1st, let me say I have been a patient here for about 15 years. Dr. Vanderhoof is excellent and…read morecompassionate. My cataract surgery is the reason for the 2 stars. On April 1, 2025, I was told my cataracts were "ripe" enough to do surgery. I was put on the waiting list. 3 months later, I had my first surgery. Before that I met with the surgeon and the "insurance expert", Fran. During a one-on-one meeting with this so-called expert, I made it quite clear I did not want my eye drops prescription called in to Walgreens. She assured me she would call it in to Henry Ford Pharmacy, my preferred pharmacy. She called it in to Walgreens! After 4 phone calls, I straightened that mess out. After the above, I spoke to the office manager, Kathy, about Fran's actions. She assured me that Fran would be "written up". While on the phone with Kathy, I inquired why I had to pay the $35 refraction fee before they would do my surgery. Her response, "that's our procedure". BTW, that refraction didn't occur until August 21, 7 weeks later. But, of course they processed my payment immediately. After the 2nd eye operation, I did a follow-up appointment to see how the procedure went. I had some swelling, so Dr. Vanderhoff suggested I return in 2 weeks for another evaluation. When I got to the front desk, I was told there was nothing in 2 weeks, so they set it at 3 weeks. A week later, they called me and said they had to push my appointment out another week, or a month after my surgery. I ordered my glasses through Costco and finally picked the up today. My entire summer was blind-sighted (forgive the pun). Why can't a cataract patient be given a schedule of appointments so that the final outcome can happen in a reasonable timeline? There seems to be a disconnect between the professional staff and the people at the front desk. Why does a patient who knowingly has numerous appointments have to use the card reader to check-in every time. "The system" has all your insurance information and your driver's license stored. I will be seeking additional vision care at a different facility.

The office itself is stunning--modern and aesthetically pleasing, providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere from the moment you step in. While the wait time was slightly longer it was well worth it because I saw 2 doctors that day. The thoroughness of the staff is evident in their detailed explanations of all available options and alternatives for LASIK surgery. Each step was clearly outlined. What truly stood out was the meeting with the counselor. They went above and beyond to explain the cost aspects of the procedure with complete transparency. just one straightforward price. This level of honesty and clarity was refreshing and greatly appreciated especially in medicine.

My fiancé went in thru ER with shortness of breath. At one point he dropped to the floor in the…read morerestroom and his oxygen went way down. Dr. Kenney and the nurses and respiratory techs (I can't remember all the names!) literally ran to him and six or seven people had to wrestle him to get the oxygen mask on because he was out of his mind. He was admitted (yes it takes hours, but while we waited for a room he was alive and getting treatment.) Turns out he had clots in his lungs and legs. They kept at it until they got an answer and fixed it. Four or five doctors were consulted on his case. Was it pneumonia? Was it a heart problem?, etc. While he was in the hospital he had neighbors who screamed at the staff calling them names and generally being crazy. There was another patient who attempted suicide and they got to him or her in time. There was another patient who barfed in the hall and said "F**k you'", well, you get the idea. Give them a break. It's a 12 hour shift and if you are polite they will bend over backwards to help you anywhere in that hospital. I've been there, my mom has been there my whole family, and they have always been helpful and have gotten to the bottom of things. Be polite. More flies with honey and all that. Grow up. Cut the entitlement crap. My fiancé's PCP came every single day of the ten days he was there.

So it's 4 days later and AC is still not fixed. Currently 83° in the room. When water was requested…read morefrom the nurse it is not delivered. And God forbid you want to order food, it will most likely be wrong or not delivered at all. -10 Stars!!!

I'm so happy I did not get my lasik done back in Vegas while I was living there. I went to Lasik…read moreEye Institute back in 2016 I believe. The guy who checked my eyes was so rude and mean. He made me feel really insecure about my eyes because I had smaller eyes than most people. (ps I'm Asian lol) he kept yelling at me telling me to open my eyes bigger and I was trying my best. He gave my hopes up saying I'm most likely will be a candidate for lasik, then doctor comes in and tell me I wasn't. And that I should look into PRK. The bad experience made me give up on lasik. Wearing mask and glasses can get a bit annoying. And my glasses kept sliding down my face causing my ears to hurt. Plus I would like to wear my eyeliner more often without contacts. My prescription was really bad it was a -7. My cousin recommended his place and I trust his opinion. So I made my consultation! (The consultation and lasik surgery is at two different location. Consultation is in Dearborn.) Make sure you have someone to drive you, once you arrive only you can come in, but make sure to call ahead of time. Everyone was so nice. Barb examined my eyes, also she dilated my eyes. Which lasted for a whole day, that is why you need a driver. She didn't make me feel insecure about my eyes! She just kept telling me I'm doing a great job. Barb is also the one who calls you the Friday before your lasik appt to give you the time of the arrival, I believe the surgery day is every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Thank you Barb for your patience and kindness, it really goes a long way. Then Dr.Akler came to examine my eye, oh by the way I DID NOT NEED PRK. I got approved as a candidate for lasik. Dr.Akler is so kind. The whole staff is Is amazing! I made my appointment for my lasik for October 20, 2021! (Today is the day after!! And I already can see and writing this review!) Okay so come the Friday before my lasik date, Barb called me, she let me know my appointment time, and send in my prescription eyedrop a to my pharmacist. She gave my direction for the eye drops and to start my artificial tear eyedrops if I haven't already. On the day of lasik, which is located in Fraser. Crystal called me in to examine my eyes, another lady came and gave me to Valium I believe that's what it's called, which is to help calm my nerves which boy did that work! I was taken to a massage chair to relax!! A massage chair!! I had taken my glasses off so from there everything was a blur. But I would love to thank DR. Akler and her team! Best team and I hope you guys stick together and grow the team! Okay so then they came and got me from the massage chair, took me to the surgery room laid me down. Dr. Akler and her team was just chit chatting and that already made me forget about my fear plus that Valium. But she also told me all the steps and when I was going to feel pressure and what she was going to do and what I should do. It was easy peasy and fast!! I really just love how great the team was and how chill they were with each other. After the surgery was down they took me into a room and Dr.Akler examined my eyes to make sure the flap was good, then they sent me home with sleeping goggles and sunglasses. When I came home my eyes did aches a lot but once I went to sleep and woke up it was gone. I kept my eyes closed the whole day and opened them this morning and it's just a miracle and amazing that I can see. Went to my post op I have 20/15 vision! And everything seems to be great. I come back next month to make sure everything is good. I just cannot thank my cousin enough for recommending this place to me. Thank you Dr.Akler and ALL of her staffs! You all make a great team, I did not feel scared or nervous at all, because I do have social anxiety, but everyone made me feel comfortable. I can tell this team has trust in each other and is very well trained. I'm just so happy EVERYTHING is 100% awesome! I will be recommending this place!! It is worth the drive and money! Thank you thank you thank you!! Sorry for the long review! They really deserve an award!!

Office of Dr. Daniel Lin and associates…read more Some doctors get in the practice to help people. Others choose the disgraceful path of merely wanting to squeeze every cent possible out of their patients. You can tell a medical provider is predatory when you are greeted with the following kinds of signs right on the reception desk: 1) Ads/brochures for supplements. Total conflict of interest ... even before you consider that most of these products are just "snake oil"! 2) Obscene prices to get copies of your patient records. They charge like $50 per request + $10 per page. Do you think this is for some equitable reason, like, the "bonus" fees are going to the administrative staff? No. And do you think it's just "covering their costs", like this is anywhere near what it actually costs the provider for their administrative staff to fulfill these requests?? Again, no. Let's generously assume staffers get paid $30/hr. If they're doing such a poor job of admin in the first place, that it's taking them *2 hours* to copy some documents for a patient, put them on a thumb drive, fax/email them, etc., they're not actually worth that pay rate, are they?! So, tell me again why so many hardworking people can't afford proper healthcare in USA... 3) Ads/brochures for CareCredit, etc. If u don't know how these programs work: it means the provider doesn't trust the patient. The bank pays the provider immediately, and then, if there are any "issues", those are left to be resolved between the patient and the bank; the provider is out of the picture. They got their money and they don't care. Trust is fundamental to good care, and it's *supposed to* go both ways. 4) Of course they don't accept insurance from the "affordable"/public health plans. These plans pay less than private insurance. So, another helpful indicator if you're dealing with a provider whose top priority is to help their patients, vs. one whose top priority is to maximize their profits.
