I had been specifically referred by my Primary Care Physician as I have diabetic eye. I took appointment of today of 3 pm and my Physician office faxed the referral. I work near downtown Detroit and the clinic is at Sterling Heights. I work full time and have to squeeze in time for health appointments. As no where it has been mentioned that the clinic is inside the Corwell Hospital, I had to drive around the Dequinder Road a number of times despite following GPS. I took leave from work to reach early and called the Doctor office about my appointment time . I somehow reached the Eye Care after a lot of moving around the entire Hospital. I reached by 3:11pm and the receptionist at first declined to acknowledge that a referral has been sent. She stated that she asked the Doctor and he said that I should take another day in most discourteous manner , apparently, making the Patient feel that ' Doctor is doing a favor to me and doing free social service'. I do not want to give anyone an opinion to try to consult this particular University Eye Care Center as Patients are only going to go through an intimidating process of the ' Very High Headed' Office Staff on the receiving desk. I am going find out a better and refined Eye Care Center and now go for Diabetic Eye Exam and Eye Lens test.

The staff who were there today, Megan and Haley, are very professional and courteous. I never have to wait more than 10 min in the waiting room. I can't imagine going anywhere else now that I've had the BEST! My husband has to come with me each time, (for his appt too), since I'm so afraid of going to the eye dr. He mentioned afterward, on the way home, that, and I quote, "Thankfully Dr. Leung is still young so will be there awhile!" I couldn't agree more! Why do I like this eye dr. so much? He is patient, and that is saying something for someone like me who is scared to death of the eye dr. I don't know where this comes from, but the why is beside the point. He is so patient with me, takes time to explain about my eyes and shows the pictures they took of my eyes. He did the same for my husband. He lets us stay in the same room during our eye exams and that helps to calm me. Now for the staff...they are all exceptional! Friendly, answers any questions, and are patient when looking for frames when I can't decide which ones I would look best in. (Neither of us needed frames yesterday at our appt. but from past experience know this to be true). You don't feel rushed here, and everyone makes you feel like you are the ONLY patient they have! I told her that I learned more in one visit (for my son, not even an appt for myself) then I have learned in many years seeing other eye doctors. dr. Johnny absolutely takes time to explain everything to you about your eyes. I have been seeing another eye doctor and paying out of pocket for a reevaluation every year. Dr. Johnny said that that diagnosis/solution (prism) RARELY EVER CHANGES, so I don't need to keep going back and having it evaluated and paying hundreds of dollars. Holy crap! He also explained what macular degeneration is and what causes it. My blonde son with light blue eyes needs to be wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses as often as possible to prevent it in his old age. So those are just two examples of fantastic helpful friendly information I got in one hour. Not to mention, the staff is so nice and helpful. My husband and I both got awesome frames that we love and get lots of compliments on. (and by the way, just now my husband had an issue with his friends and they fixed it quickly and no problem!!!) I just really can't say enough about this office and would recommend it HIGHLY and ENTHUSIASTICALLY to anyone!

They are overbooking themselves and people are always waiting for a minimum of an hour. 2. The office manager is really the one who is in charge, she doesn't care what the doctor tells you or what happened when you were there- she will bill you according to what she thinks is right. Now, I agree doctors are not billers, but Doctor GOLDSTEIN specifically told me I would only be charged for a general doctor visit, even after he used a tweezer to simply flip my eyelid and remove a tiny partical. I asked if there would be any other charges and he said NO. A week later I was billed for an office visit and a procedure. It was outrageous and while we were discussing the bill with the office manager to understand why we were charged this, she had them add on a late fee of $7. She also told us we were lucky we weren't charged more. Anyhow, we paid the bills. Then we received a second late notice and additional $7 charge?!? So I call and she has to look for our check. Says sorry and removes the one $7 charge. I asked if she could remove the first $7 charge since there was obviously an issue with the Doctor telling me it would only be a doc visit charge and it wasn't. We paid both charges, I just wanted her to remove any late fees. She said absolutely not. At this point I told her I was super dissatisfied with her attitude and the way this office was handling this. Over $7?!? My entire family goes there, had lasik through him (by the way he shouldn't have done lasik on me at the young age it was- it didn't even work). So what happens? They discharged me from their office. Over $7. The best part is- they paid over $6 to send me a letter through certified mail.!! Did they honestly think I was going to go back there anyhow? I feel bad for Doctor Goldstein- his practice deserves better management!
