I used to love coming to accents years ago until the lady started to do whatever she wanted to my hair, looked nothing like I asked for so I stopped coming here recently got referred to someone that works at accents so i thought hey let's give it a try NOPE absolutely nothing like I asked for. I wish I lived around here! I am in town for a week and needed my hair done in a bad way. They took me in the same day and I loved everyone there-they were so nice...it felt like being in a scene of Steel Magnolias. My hairdresser, Karen, was super and just the sweetest; she did exactly what I wanted. They have a boutique there with a lot of fun stuff to buy and keep you occupied as well. Highly recommend!! If I could give ZERO stars - that would be preferred. Poor customer service. I would have been considered a walk in - which is clearly advertised, however no one greeted me, asked to helped me - NOTHING. Other patrons who came in behind me were immediately greeted and taken care of. The staff was very snotty, including the young girl working the front desk. She worked some kind of magic because she took hair that won't hold a curl and is stick straight and made the curls last ALL night!! The only disappointment I had was with the makeup artist. Affordable with good service! They took me in as a last min add on when most of the salons in the area were closed for the hoilday or booked. I had one of the best shampoos ever. Gina (I think) took her time and massaged my scalp which starts the day off really well! my stylist could have been fairly new because it took her a long time to not only cut but also to blow dry my hair, but she still did a great job! read more

Got my makeup done here and absolutely hated it. The lady doing it made my face look pasty and white. She didn't blend my eyeshadow in and when I asked her not put bottom eyeliner she did and then tried covering it up with eyeshadow...... I had to pay 40.00 just for me to go home, take all of my makeup she did off and do my makeup again. I would never recommend makeup here to anyone. Allison is an excellent stylist. Her cutting is impeccable, accurate and her blowouts are among the best I've seen (on long hair) in Northwest Indiana. She uses a round brush and makes great loose curls with really nice body. I have long hair, with no color, very healthy- and it is not easy to make my hair fluffy hold a curl. Allison can do it. She's great- go see her! Very moderately priced salon and usually relatively easy to book (except for Friday's and Saturday's). If I could rate it -2 I would. I got the worst haircut I have ever had in my 60 + years. I brought in pictures I thoroughly explained what I wanted in DETAIL --- Jackie said she knew exactly what I wanted and could give me that cut. This cut is absolutely terrible. I am sick to my stomach. It is so bad I can't even go somewhere else TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP FIX THIS MESS because it's so short. Bald spots all over. I left Accents and immediately went to a wig shop in Cal City. Stay away from this place. It will take almost a year to grow out in order to go somewhere else where they have decent stylists. I called to ask if they had an opening for a pedicure, which they did same day and I booked it. I looked up their service menu and saw a pedicure was $35. I'm used to spending $25 at any salon but salons typically offer a $35 option where you get more. But I felt $35 was decent and wanted to check it out, thinking this was a higher end option. I walk in, again my first time there, a young girl greets me and I tell her I have a 5:30 appt with Holly. She tells me she'll be right with me. I stand there then ask where I wait, she points in direction of the chairs. Holly takes me back and I get my pedicure. She is very nice, offers me coffee and we start. As she was almost done I realize nobody asked me to pick a polish color, not the receptionist or Holly but I didn't want to get up so I was fine with her picking a color I recommended. As I check out they charge me $50! I was confused, why was the price different than the menu. I paid and tipped, bc I felt Holly deserved that. Not long after, as I realized I'd been duped basically, I call and ask how much their pedicures are. Receptionist says "they're $50!" I say their service menu says they are $35. She tells me "well there's a mini pedicure and a full pedicure," I ask her to explain. She says the mini is 30 minutes and full is an hour. So here's the part where I get upset, disappointed and feel taken advantage of. Nowhere in my initial phone call did anyone explain the two OR ask me what I wanted, nor did Holly. I'm guessing they assumed I just wanted to throw down $50 on a pedicure. EVERY time I've gone to any salon, mostly walk-ins, mind you, I'm always asked what I want, every single time. So for that $50, this is the only chair I've sat in that didn't have a massager and my coffee was served in a styrofoam cup. I would never complain about this but for that price, I'm still racking my brain wondering what classified this as worthy of my $50! I've gotten pedicures for years, no one has ever had a "timed pedicure!" Of all my friends and family I've asked majority spend $25, some $35 at the MOST! I have such little time to spend these days and this is what happens. I'm guessing the joke is on me here, but I'm not laughing. I'm really disappointed, and I won't be back! read more
