Working with Sara has made such an incredible difference for us and our dog Cody! My husband is a first time dog owner, and I have only ever owned a chihuahua prior to Cody, so it was quite an adjustment to bring home a full grown, 1 year old, 60 lb, TALL rescue goldendoodle who had attention span, reactivity, and leash pulling issues, along with separation anxiety. We tried to use YouTube training videos for the first ~ 6 months or so that we had him, but constantly struggled with his strength and leash pulling on walks (especially in new places), getting him to listen to us when called and this gradually worsened to the point where he started lunging and barking at dogs out of excitement / desire to reach them to play. It was to the point where it was difficult to take him out - at which point we reached out to Sara. She helped us pinpoint techniques to help redirect / retrain certain basic obedience skills such as how to have him follow and not lead on walks, how to gradually introduce distractions etc. She modified our techniques and gave us specific practices to help him solidify these skills. We were happy with the progress, but since we were only able to meet once a week and could not practice intensively with him, we decided to also do her 2 week board & care afterwards to help him learn his basic obedience skills at a faster pace. This is where we saw a huge difference! During the board & care, Sara sent us videos everyday of what Cody and her were working on. I appreciated that her board & care was run in a more personal manner than other facilities. She only keeps 1-2 other dogs at a time, and allowed Cody to interact w/ other dogs she was familiar with to help identify/confirm other socialization issues we suspected he had and gave us tips on how to address them. At the end of the board and care, he is now MUCH better at: - Loose leash walking (even in new surroundings or surroundings with dogs), which would have been a disaster previously. - Call back commands - Reactivity - no longer barking or lunging on walks when he sees other dogs. We have been able to take him to Irvine Spectrum w/o causing a scene. - Place / stay After the board & care, I appreciated that Sara took the time a week after to see how Cody was still doing and to ensure that the progress she made was solidified through our own practice and training. He is not perfect and it still requires active work on our part, but we would have not made the progress we have made if it weren't for her board & care. Would 100% recommend!

    Samoyed training

Our 4 year old Samoyed just completed a 2-week Board and Train program with Sara at Bark and Roll Dog Training. She identified areas of priority to begin work on, such as focus and attention, separation anxiety, and reactivity around other dogs. Sara created the foundation for us to continue to build upon. She taught our Cloud basic commands such as sit, look, heel, down, and stay. She sent us pictures and video of each day's progress along with tips for what we would need to do to keep training Cloud once he returned home. At pick up, she dedicated time to show us the training techniques we would need to reinforce at home and had each member of the family practice with Cloud. Cloud is smart but very stubborn. We needed guidance to manage his behavior. This kind of individualized positive reinforcement training, with a focus on his health and safety, was what we needed all along. The investment is well worth it. And the connection between Sara, Cloud, and our family will undoubtedly continue. We highly recommend Sara and Bark and Roll Dog Training to support any training needs. Your dog will love her as much as Cloud and we do!

I am not sure how should i start my review since i am full of emotions but good ones.. i wish there was more than 5 stars here so i can select them all. Sara made my hopeless dream come true..taking my dog to daily walks was my dream..i was not able to take him to any outdoor party or restaurant and i had to put him in daycare if we had any guest come over to our house..so he did have all kind of behavioral problems, just name it. He was good at daycare with other dogs but as soon as he saw us, his behaviors were changing..sara did boarding and training with him and now i can't recognize him..i can take him to public places..he sees dogs and he passes by them..i am talking about 9 years old Maltese dog..if you know Maltese breed, you will know they are king and queen of stubbornness..she changed our life completely and now i can enjoy my time with my little guy and he is living his best life..he is not reactive to kids or bicycles and he can ignore a dog that passes by him..she crate trained him and now he eats his food in crate..not only she taught discipline to our dog, she showed us how to continue that discipline patiently.. I am so thankful to her! Just trust her and you will see the magic she does..

    that eye contact tho!!

Sara was recommended to us by a family friend who had recently sent their dog to board & train with her. Some background knowledge on our 1 year old dog, Kevin. He's the epitome of the samoyed breed in the full throes of doggy adolescence. He was an excessive barker, extreme puller, and super stubborn to say the least; basically a nightmare to handle in public. We couldn't take him to any place new regardless of how quiet it was without him having a MAJOR meltdown (panting, pulling anywhere and everywhere, constant high-pitched shrieking barks). He was always focusing on anything besides whoever was holding the end of the leash. In other words, his engagement was absolute trash (there was none lol). Because of this behavior, we were mostly restricted to neighborhood walks. He also loves all dogs but has no manners and does not respect boundaries so it's difficult for him to make doggie friends. He would lose his absolute mind every time he saw one during his walks. We had one private lesson with Sara prior to scheduling the board & train. There's always some anxiety when leaving your dog with someone else, and since this was the first time Kevin was with anyone besides us or family, we were feeling it even more. That anxiety definitely eased with daily videos on his progress. It also warmed our hearts that Kevin was making doggie friends with her daycare dogs. We knew that he would likely be one of her more challenging dogs to work with and that two weeks weren't going to fix all of his problems, but we were hoping it would give us a foundation to start with. Sara exceeded our expectations by far. At pick up, she spent an hour showing us exercises to work on so we could continue building on his skills. She continues to check in and asks about his progress. We appreciate and are so so grateful for all the work she's put in with Kevin because it definitely shows. He's still the sassy, side-eyeing, stubborn samoyed we know and love but he's now better behaved, calmer and much more manageable in a multitude of ways: - We walk mainly with a gentle leader and walking in our neighborhood no longer gives us anxiety. We used to always be on edge because of the unpredictability of a dog or person showing up across the street, but we're not stressing about it anymore!! - He was a screaming panting banshee during his evening potty breaks but that is no longer an issue. - He no longer barks for attention (which was really really annoying) - He can hold a stay in some public places, even with us walking away from him. Before Sara's training, we literally never let go of the leash with him in any place because we were terrified he would bolt (which he totally would have done). - His loose leash walking is SO MUCH BETTER. A more appropriate name for what it used to be is leash pulling. He now mostly walks beside us and is easily redirected if he isn't. - He makes eye contact!!!!! And holds it!!!!!!!! It was basically nonexistent but now melts our hearts a lil every time. :))) - We are able to go to new places and work on his anxious behavior without the full blown meltdowns. We can even walk past people and some dogs without major issues!!! (this is still mind blowing to me) - My neighbor commented on how she doesn't hear him on our walks anymore cause Kevin would normally bark and act a fool. I even had a stranger tell me that he was so well behaved, which is absolutely crazy considering where he was a month ago. TLDR; Sara is amazing. We still have to put in consistent work so her efforts don't fall by the wayside but we never would have gotten this far without her. To any doggie parent reading this review & looking for help, we highly recommend reaching out! p.s. yelp doesn't allow videos but there are a couple on my google review if you're curious

    Dog practising stay command

My 1 year old 60lb shepherd mix puppy was showing early signs of aggression and resource guarding, and I was lucky to meet Sara at the dog park in my community who caught them early and pointed them out to me. I thought I had a well trained dog, but after going through my initial consultation with Sara I realised that my dog was far from good and needed to work a lot on her anxiety and focus. After going through weekly sessions over the past two months along with training at home, I now have a changed dog! Sara showed us a structured approach to reinforcing good behaviour, and really focused on getting the fundamental foundation of obedience training. The training tips really helped with my dog's anxiety and lack of focus, and she is now able to walk loose leash, follow commands promptly, has good recall, and can calmly stay in one place. I plan to continue seeing Sara for advanced dog training. Also, Sara is communicative and flexible about scheduling sessions, and has really been able to mould the training session to our dog's individual needs. She was also able to recommend the right training equipment! I trust her professional judgment and would highly recommend her to all pet owners in the area!

My boyfriend and I took in our cattle dog, Ollie, as a stray almost 4 months ago. Quick background: Ollie was found tied to a fire hydrant outside my work. Ollie is the sweetest boy, however is very reactive to other dogs and is a bundle of energy that presents as endless jumping and nipping. We have a senior Saint Bernard at home in which Ollie has been too rough/aggressive with her, even when our Saint Bernard makes it known that she doesn't want to be bothered. We tried water sprays at home and other attempts at training to no avail. We began to feel helpless as our biggest concern was his relationship with our Saint Bernard, as it got to the point where we felt we had to consider rehoming him. During our session with Brad, we immediately saw results which had us dumbfounded. Like other reviews have mentioned, his technique is not "mean," but is a firm mindset that Ollie requires. All the while, Brad emphasizes when to correct your dog and when to praise him, while stressing the fact that these techniques are not made to scare your dog, but rather establish a leader mentality while simultaneously letting the dog know that you provide love and safety. Of course, like any training, one can only be successful when carrying over these learned techniques at home, but Brad left us feeling confident and ready to continue the work. Even when we got home today, we already had seen a shift from Ollie. As for Brad himself - he is very approachable and really looks to understand both the dog and all the circumstances that come with them. You could really get a sense of how personal he is. We definitely recommend him. Thank you so much, Brad!

Knowing that his wife Antonina is from Ukraine and that they have loved ones and deep personal connections in a region affected by war and uncertainty, I can only imagine the emotional stress they have carried over the years. Despite those challenges, they continue helping dogs and families in our community with remarkable dedication, and I wanted to acknowledge that before sharing my story. I am absolutely thrilled with the results and the experience I had with Vladae and SoCal Dog Training. I am a professional dog groomer, so I spend my days working with dogs and their owners. Over time, I noticed something interesting: several of my grooming clients were bringing in dogs that had undergone remarkable behavioral transformations. When I asked what had changed, the answer kept coming back the same--SoCal Dog Training. Around the same time, my veterinarian also spoke very highly of Vladae. After hearing so many positive things from people I trusted and seeing the results with my own eyes, I decided to reach out for help with my own Goldendoodle, June. June is the sweetest dog in the world, but she struggled with fear, insecurity, phobias, and noise sensitivities. In unfamiliar places, her tail would immediately tuck between her legs, and she would often become so nervous that she simply froze. Watching her struggle was heartbreaking. Our journey started with puppy training, continued through private lessons, and eventually led to SoCal Dog Training's Canine Boot Camp. Looking back now, it is honestly hard to believe how far she has come. Today, June is happier, more confident, and genuinely enjoying life. One of the most emotional moments for me was seeing her confidently running through busy public places and exploring her surroundings with joy. There was a time when she was so fearful she could barely move. Seeing the dog she has become today almost brought tears to my eyes. What impressed me most was how individualized the training was. As a groomer, I understand that every dog is different. Different dogs require different approaches, techniques, and sometimes different tools. I watched Vladae continually adjust and customize the program based on June's personality and emotional needs. Nothing ever felt like a one-size-fits-all approach. I also appreciated his honesty, authority, and surprisingly gentle approach. He never made unrealistic promises or simply told me what I wanted to hear. If anything, he under-promised and over-delivered--and that was exactly my experience. During our first FaceTime consultation, we openly discussed different training philosophies, methods, and tools. He explained the purpose behind each option and answered every question I had. I never felt pressured into anything. I felt informed, comfortable, and involved in every decision regarding June's training. One thing he told me early on stayed with me: "Come into this process with an open mind and an open heart, trust the process, do the work, and I'll do everything I can to help you succeed." That's exactly what happened. I had homework. I had to practice. I had to report back and continue learning alongside June. One of the biggest lessons I learned was that successful dog training isn't just about training the dog--it's equally about training the owner. As a groomer, I never thought about it that way before. In grooming, I do the work and the owner enjoys the result. Dog training is different. June wasn't the only one learning and growing--I was too. Looking back now, I truly feel that both June and I graduated from this program together. I also appreciated Vladae's honesty when he explained that dog training is a skill, not a magic wand. Like any skill, it needs to be practiced and maintained. That made perfect sense to me. What SoCal Dog Training gave us was a strong foundation and the knowledge to continue building on our success. One of my favorite memories was visiting June shortly before Boot Camp was completed. She was excited to see me, but after a few minutes it almost felt like she was saying, "Hi Mom! Okay, I'm good now--I'm hanging out with Vladi!" It was obvious she felt comfortable, safe, and genuinely happy. Will June ever be perfect? Probably not. No dog is. But compared to where we started, the transformation feels nothing short of miraculous. Most importantly, she is happy. She is confident. She enjoys life. And I enjoy life more because I no longer spend every day worrying about her. I cannot thank Vladae and SoCal Dog Training enough for everything they have done for June and for me. Thank you, Vladi, for giving my sweet girl the confidence to enjoy the world. We are both incredibly grateful.

We were so happy with everything that we decided to progress further by sending her to his 2 week boot camp at 16 months old. When I asked why such a good dog would go to boot camp, Vladae responded with, "Same reason that the smartest kids go to university, to become all they can be and hone their skills." That made sense to me! If it was any other boot camp I would have been nervous about my baby. I know how well Vladae treats his campers though and his focus on health and exercise. "Only the tired dog is the good dog" Thank you Vladae!

Wife and I also highly recommend her private sessions after the board and train. 2-3 weeks is definitely not enough time to make sure behavior issues are completely addressed, so her sessions helped make sure we properly did our daily trainings with Dumping. Her sessions also evolved the trainings we did at home as our dog's aggression level kept going down and focus on his high alert/anxiety responses to stimuli, and try to help him associate his dopamine response to being relaxed. She also helped identify a food allergy that made him itchy, which added to his higher anxiety level.
