I visited the dentist in December. I'm writing this almost 5 months later because not a day has gone by that I didn't regret going. Granted, I hadn't been to the dentist in years, but at least when I went in - my teeth weren't bothering me at all. I just wanted a checkup. NOW they bother me. I kinda felt it was bogus when he said I had an insane number of cavities (which after reading the reviews of other Medi-Cal accepting offices seems to be a common theme), but I gave the benefit of the doubt and went in to have a few cavities filled. Long story short, whatever it was that he did caused my teeth to feel like something is constantly stuck between them (which let me tell you, is maddening!) I'm constantly sucking my teeth and my tongue is raw from running it against whatever he put in there. Proceed with caution, run if you pushed toward getting a ton of fillings. Due to PTSD from childhood I've avoided going to the dentist. I now have insurance and was brave enough to go to a dentist. Its been decades visiting a dental office. Oh how I regret coming to this dental office. I needed bridges and a crown. I let him work on my crown and insert a bridge in on my upper right jaw. The process was a nightmare. He was impatient, lacked empathy, belittled my teeth and even hit my head with his elbow while I was sitting in the chair. I opened care credit and.. It was just awful. I hope he gets his karma. I used to be a patient Dr. Thanh Ngo at Accu Dental Group. I stopped going because he told me that I had a small cavity on my wisdom tooth that he wanted to watch. He said that if it gets bigger he'll have to pull my tooth. I have NEVER had a bad check up from a dentist and I've only have received glowing reports on my cleaning habits from all dentists (& hygienists). I was taken back that he said he would pull my tooth over a cavity. So, I stopped going to the dentist for 2-3 years. When I finally decided it was time to go to the dentist I found a new one in Los Alamitos. He did x-rays and barely had to clean my teeth and he said: "didn't you say you had not seen a dentist for a couple of years." I told him my last dentist said I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth and he was watching it and if it got bigger he was going to pull it. My new dentist said that I was far from ever getting a tooth pulled. He couldn't believe that a dentist would ever say that to me. The kicker of this story.....I was out to dinner with a girlfriend and I ask why her husband never joins us. She told me he is embarrassed to go out to eat because he had a dentist pull most of his teeth. Guess who his dentist was? Yes, Dr. Thanh Ngo from Accu Dental Group. I know I am not a dentist, but I've known her and her husband for years and I know that his teeth were not rotting. Especially not MOST of them. Please do not let this dentist (or any dentist) pull your teeth out! Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion before you EVER get a tooth pulled -- especially from Accu Dental Group in Long Beach. read more

Worst dental office ever if you want someone to steal all your benefits that your paying for go here. They will lie and cheat and steal from your insurance all the money they can get. Even when you tell them off they will keep filing claims when you don't even go. I stopped over a year ago when I had a hole in my tooth. The dentist Dr Ngo drilled an even bigger hole now I just have a bigger hole and they charged me for filling it. What a waste of space. If you want to continue this I will be going to my insurance with Everything because I already told them I will never set foot in the office and waste my time again to have to pay another dentist to fix what they did. Absolutely love this dentist!! My husband recommended him to me. I put off coming for so long! I don't like going to the dentist, it causes anxiety. But, this dentist is amazing!!! I was in and out and was beyond happy with my visit! This dentist listens to you and aims to please! I had a horrible experience with Spring Dental a year prior to this dental visit. They told me I had multiple cavities that needed root canals and crowns and my jaw bone shaved down for the crowns to fit!! I was terrified!! I wanted a second opinion but was too scared to get one. So many dentists out there are like spring dental so I didn't know who to trust. Accu Dental is so honest!! They said my teeth looked great! Unlike Spring Dental!! This office setting has the perfect zen feeling. All of Dr. Ngo's staff are so polite and courteous. They take time making sure I was comfortable and sometimes that's a hard thing to do when working in a high stress environment. They are always very pleasant. Dr. Ngo takes his time to explain every detail..pros and cons. Today he gave me back my confidence. I am so thankful I followed my heart making a decision that took me two years to overcome. This place is a scam. I went In for a teeth cleaning and I waited around forever. I finally go back to the chair where they take my X-rays and the dentist looks at my teeth. Everything was healthy. I then waited around for another 30 minutes until the lady told me there was a 1.5 hour wait for a cleaning. That's what my appointment was for! So now they can charge my insurance for dentist visit and X-rays but don't have to do the work and clean my teeth. read more

But i have to admit i had a pleasant experience despite the long wait to see the doctor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I think the office is nice and staff were helpful and friendly. My babe got a deep cleaning and due to the lack of insurance hasn't had a cleaning in probably 5 years + the dr got all the yellow plaque removed I was actually impressed because I've had cleanings myself that didn't turn out that well at prev offices. The first thing you need to know is Dr. Thanh Ngo does all his own cleaning. He doesn't use a hygienist. That would be ok, if the doctor did a thorough job. My last hygienist at Dr. Gary Philips would take around an hour. Scrapping around each tooth, fluoride back and front, then lastly flossing each tooth. Dr. Ngo takes around 10 to 15 minutes. I will not be returning as I feel he doesn't do a very good job. read more

Staff is super friendly & so is the Dr! They work as a great team, if you love an office that can do the work, yet make the experience enjoyable/funny I would recommend. I especially love that it is open on weekends, which literally seems like no dentist is open on weekends. I have been getting my teeth taken care of here for a quite a few years after not being happy with others, especially where treating my children was concerned. Dr Ngo has restored their faith in dentists because treats them with kindness and respect, he is also quite patient too and they sense it and are relaxed because of that. I hardly ever post reviews but I like to give positive feedback if I am happy, more than happy with service. I trust Dr Ngo's opinion and advice, it is easy to get an appointment and I find his staff are kind to myself and also my children who are now 12, 16 and 22. I went in to see Dr. Ngo about a filling which broke while biting into a piece of beef jerky. He told me about the options of either getting a new filling or a crown. The crown, although expensive, would be a more permanent fix. To this regard, I completely agreed but decided to go with the filling as it was only a small chip and I didn't want to have my tooth shaved down for the crown, something that cannot be undone. Against his recommendation, he did the filling. That same night, the filling literally fell off while reading in bed. I didn't bite into anything, it just fell out. I went in the next day and he did the filling again while explaining to me about the benefits of the more costly crown (which cost about $1200 for one tooth). A month and a half later I noticed the filling having an odd feeling to it. Later that morning it simply fell out another time. I've had fillings in the past but they never just fell out, they would only break/crack if I bit into something, usually something tough. When I went in to see Dr. Ngo his receptionist told me that he wouldn't do the filling again, he would only do the crown. When I told her I wanted to speak with him she explained that he was eating breakfast, odd because I had an appointment with him 20 minutes prior to her being requested to present him. Dr. Ngo came out with a vengeance, rambling on about how he felt disrespected, that I didn't trust his education and background, that I should get a second opinion as "I honestly don't trust him". It was obvious something else was going on because he was sweating and rambling so quickly I could barely get in my two-cents. I tried telling him that the fillings were simply falling out, it wasn't like I was biting into anything...but he just wouldn't hear it. It was extremely uncomfortable. I actually felt more uncomfortable for him since I was merely standing at the receptionists desk wanting to discuss my options other then paying $1200. I told them I would pay for the filling again, I just don't want to walk around with a chipped tooth. Overall, the experience was highly unprofessional. I'm not sure what the receptionist told him when I asked to talk to the Dr. but whatever it was he came out pretty pissed. My gut feeling is that he wanted the money from the crown yet I insisted upon the cheaper alternative (only $80 for the filling). His office looks deserted, you could almost mistake it for being closed if not for the blinking "open" sign in the window. I do not recommend going to this dentist for any reason. I've never been spoken to in this manner, especially by a working professional. If this is how he treats his patients then he really shouldn't be working with the public. read more

I had been coming here for a few years and was happy, but I never opted for a procedure they recommended that my insurance didn't cover. Then day showed up for an appointment for a simple cleaning. When I was on the chair they said I needed deep cleaning. I declined and was told they didn't have time for me and sent me away. So there was time for a deep cleaning but not for a simple one? I have been going to the same dentist in LB for 5 years, but my new insurance was a HMO which required myself and my partner to have the same primary care dentist. And since my old dentist was not available at night or on weekends, my BF made me change dentists. It was a big mistake, which fortunately, only affected him. I never actually went to see Thanh Ngo at Accu Dental, but my BF did. They sold him 3 root canals on the first visit, and even better, they over-billed him twice as much as it should have been. It was only after two lengthy phone calls to the office that I was able to get the $600 back. But even worse than the over-billing (anyone can make a mistake), was the fact that his teeth have hurt continuously for the last 3 months after the procedure. He has gone back, but the doctor says everything is ok. My BF even said he saw other patients come in and complain of the same problems to the doctor, only to be sent away. Although I never set foot in the office, the second time I called, I guess it was on the day they close early. My call apparently got routed straight to the dentist's cell phone. He answered in a very angry and unprofessional way, and I honestly thought I called the wrong number, so I hung up. After verifying the number, I called again and he made it clear I was wasting his time and he could not help me. I understand the need for a doctor to be available to their patients 24/7, but routing the office phone directly to his cell phone seems a bit absurd. They should just have a recording like any other business, where they give you the option to contact the dentist directly. The good news is that I have switched back to my old dentist just in time for my check-up. On the plus side, they do stay open late a couple nights a week, but you may be better off just missing a couple hours of work/school to go elsewhere. read more

I needed one filling and wanted the basic cleaning (not deep cleaning... google it Pro & Con... scary) they told me the cleaning would be $5 correct... the filling would be $75... wrong... I had already checked with insurance it was to be $12. , When I called back, to correct, I was put on hold. They will lie to you even if you had perfect teeth will con you and scare you to do some work just to take your insurance or your money. I'm not a big fan of going to the dentist but this establishment made it worthwhile. I came in to get a cleaning and a few fillings replaced and they did an amazing job! The staff and the dentist were so friendly and attentive I felt at ease the entire time. I would definitely recommend Accu Dental to everyone. WARNING! This is the absolute worst Dentist I have ever experienced. His bedside manner is appalling and his interest in your dental health care is non existent. His work is inferior and on my two visits he seemed like he couldn't care less about you or your issues. The cleaning I received was less than five minutes and poorly done. On my first visit Mr. NGO, THANH wasn't even in yet. My appointment was for 10:00AM and when I asked the receptionist when he would be in she said he usually strolls in about 10:15-10:30AM. When I arrived on my second visit he was sitting in the lobby talking on his cell casually and reading a magazine while I waited for him. After a twenty minute conversation he finally got up and went in the back while I waited for another twenty minutes to be called back. There were no other patients in his entire office on both visits and now I understand why. I wouldn't return to him if he was the last Dentist in California. The state of California should pull his license. I'd give him no stars as a rating if they had such an option but since they don't he'll get one! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! read more
