They are converting one court into 3 pickleball courts to meet the demand for this growing sport. The fried chicken buffet dinner was complete with green beans, roasted potatoes, biscuits, deviled eggs topped off with banana pudding and pecan pie. Excuse me, I am going back in line.

The first thing is they need to have janitorial on staff the entire day on tournament days. Someone to walk around and pick up trash that people leave, someone to sweep up all of the debris, and someone to clean those nasty bathrooms. Every time I went to the bathroom this weekend, the sinks were stopped up, the toilets were stopped up, there was either no paper towels or there was a mountain of paper towels all on the floor. Someone should definitely be taking care of those bathrooms every hour with that many people at a tournament. It's just not sanitary. The other problem, and this is with most sports facilities, is that there weren't any healthy food options. All I saw were donuts, chips, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. The last problem is that there was no clear direction on how to pay to get into the tournament. We didn't know until the moment we showed up that it was cash, Venmo, or you could use an ATM in the corner. It would be nice to be able to online pay ahead of time, or take credit cards at the door. Especially now when people rarely carry cash.

You can pick up a day pass, book a birthday or corporate party, or host an event in the spare rooms upstairs. The managers who run the place are incredibly helpful. I love the mission: Promoting the Discovery of Jesus Through Sports. The Upward Star Center hosts tournaments throughout the year which are very exciting to attend. The Adidas Gauntlet national basketball for high school is here every year with hundreds of teams and college coaches. There's always something new for kids to do, from summer camp to personal trainers for elite athletes. I enjoy my weekly group work out class through the Spartanburg Medical Center Velocity group. The trainers are so helpful and teach correct form constantly. I always leave feeling exhausted but strong. I've seen a huge difference in my strength and confidence from this class!

Upstairs is a spa type area with salt room and infrared sauna room. I took some time in salt room with an adult canned beverage from bar downstairs.. very relaxing!! Then went back down to bar area where they have food menus and drink menu as well as a variety of fresh smoothies! The staff was very nice and helpful.. answered questions I had and gave suggestions.. hence the salt room lol.. you don't know what's offered if you don't ask! I paid $10 for 45 min in salt room.. they never told us anything about membership.. might be free and pay as you use.. not sure but we enjoyed our visit. Food was pretty good too.. hubby ordered brisket tacos and smoked Mac n cheese which was pretty good! Cook came over get our thoughts on taste he was pretty nice too! Pickle ball, tennis, a state of the art gym, a salt room, an infrared sauna and a refreshment lounge which serves smoothies, snacks and beer along with several TVs in some of the areas. I believe they offer yoga too. They offer different packages for individuals and families. We decided to dump our Planet Fitness membership and join up here instead. It's a clean, uncrowded, non judgmental environment. We look forward to getting back into shape now that we are both retired.

There's a decent playground, football field, asphalt walking track, and pavilion. There's also a newly refinished and pretty nice tennis court & pickleball courts! The park and surrounding area has been cleaned up a lot, with a lot of the invasive plants that were crowding the area being removed & the some of the old chain link fence being replaced with chain & posts that opens it up & feels much more inviting. This is a great place to walk some laps or let the kids play on the swings & slides for a while.

I asked for management and he came up to me immediately with an attitude and frown and was completely unapproachable and annoyed I requested to talk to him. My son's brand new Nikes gave him blisters at school and did not fit him so we immediately brought them back with a receipt. There was the slightest and I mean slightest show of wear at the bottom of the shoe (one so small I would not have noticed if I bought them myself) and Tim refused to let us exchange them for a bigger size with no sympathy for our loss of money. I work in the customer service industry myself and am appalled at how I was treated. I highly suggest shopping at Dicks instead and not giving this store your business.

They have hundreds of soccer shoes baseball shoes, even wrestling shoes. No court shoes. I asked an mooted what's going on. He said "we've been asking for court shoes for tennis players, pickleball players, squash players, racquetball players and corporate just seems to ignore our requests. Well, they have increased their weight lifting and exercise area, women's clothing, so I guess that's their new direction. Unfortunately, it won't be mine!
