They only allow leagues every night except Saturday, so if you're just a regular person wanting to bowl this place is not for you. When I called to see if they had food and drinks they told me yes and did not mention that every night is league night. Then I came in on a Monday and asked to bowl they said general public is not allowed, came the next night to bowl (thinking every night cannot be league night) and was turned down again. No where on their Facebook does it mention that they have league bowling every day except Saturdays. read more

We arrived at Sky Lanes Bowling around 2:30 on a Friday to celebrate our daughter's birthday. She just turned 8 and had never been bowling before. Businesses just started opening back up since Covid, so this was one of our first family outings in a while. The establishment wasn't very busy upon arrival, so we didn't have to wait in line and were assigned a lane immediately. Inside the facility appeared clean to the naked eye. The bathrooms looked clean and kept as well. Staff wasn't wearing masks and didn't require customers to either. They did offer hand sanitizer. I, not being prepared, was wearing sandals and forgot to grab a pair of socks before leaving home. I'm accustomed to bowling allies providing socks, usually to buy for like $2. Unfortunately, this particular alley doesn't offer socks for sale, so I had to use their shoes without socks. Half way through the first game, I wound up with a blister, so I didn't play more than one round. I also broke one of my acrylic nails off, which they of course had no responsibility in, but they didn't have any bandaids either. I assumed it was standard for businesses to carry first aid kits with necessities such as bandaids, but I guess not. Oh well, no big deal. Our daughter started off not using the gutter guards, but after the 3rd time the staff had to retrieve her ball that got stuck half way down the lane's gutter, we had them enabled for her. I love that this alley provides lighter weight balls for kiddos; 5-7 lbs I believe. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. We paid an average of $10/person for 2 games and shoe rentals. Concessions were also fairly priced; a bit cheaper than the movie theater, but not much. We will probably be back, but only for special occasions. read more

Came here for some casual fun but after merely asking for a lane, the owner cussed out me and my 12yo daughter for having the gall to show up on league night -- which evidently is every night of the week now? In a raised voice on our way out, he said AND DON'T COME BACK! Like, who even does that? Maybe I have the wrong color skin for some people. The marquis says "locally owned and operated". Some way to treat your locals, huh? Not good. read more

Love this place. Food was really good. Wings were top notch and we will definitely come back just for the wings. The manager said they marinate them overnight in a special sauce. The patty melt was really good too, like something you'd get from a diner. Bowling was great and atmosphere was fun. Felt safe for COVID too. They sanitize all the bowling balls between use and have everyone socially distanced every other lane. Expect a short wait on weekend nights, but it went by pretty fast. Staff is friendly and attentive. This will definitely be our go to bowling spot in Asheville. read more

$48 for 2 games & 2 pairs of shoes for a 10 & 12 year old and myself...a little steep in my opinion

I've had a bit of a bowling kick lately and a few friends and I have stopped by Sky Lanes several times over the last few months. I've only been out on a Friday or Saturday night, if you're thinking of bowling in the evening, during the week, I'd recommend calling before hand because often times they have league nights going on from 7pm to close. We have never had an issue with getting a lane here (although at times of high volume there will be a waitlist). The last Saturday we went we were quoted 45 minutes for a lane, after talking amongst ourselves if we wanted to wait or not, we decided we go do something else instead. We let the staff know, but they said they had a lane for us so we played. I enjoy myself each and every time I've been to Sky Lanes. They have a full bar, and local craft beers on tap. They even have quite the selection of foods you expect from a bowling alley (pizza, nachos, wings, etc). I never order food while I'm there but if you go hungry there's plenty of options. Cosmic bowling starts around 9:30pm on Friday and Saturdays. There's even stripes that light up on the lanes as well. Games are priced per person, that plus shoe rental is pretty affordable in my option. There are times when the equipment messes up but it's very easy to notify staff and get it fixed right away. Lots of different league options as well. I hope to join one sometime! read more

There was a nice little food store inside to get something. There were a lot of difficulties in the lane like the one bumper would not go up and the lane stopped in the middle of a game. Me and my family always come here on family vacations. Recently the customer service has gone to shit unfortunately. What used to be a nice family bowling alley is now filled with disgruntled employees who don't understand what customer service means. Our worst experience by far was with the bartender/cashier. She was rude and unfriendly without any reason to be. Her name was Ashley. She was awful, she talked down to us and made us fee unwelcome. That experience alone has made us decide to bring our business elsewhere. That awful bartender is gonna take down the whole business if they keep letting her treat the customers like they aren't paying. They get two stars because I still had some great times here but I won't ever be coming back. I highly recommend hiring people with manners and who don't have an attitude when they have to do their job. read more

Sky-Lanes is by far the most affordable and local friendly bowling alley in Asheville. You can't beat their prices or their draft beer selection. I bowled here while participating on a bowling league and it was a blast. Great environment and staff! They offer around 10 draft beers and also have a full bar. They typically have multiple drink specials throughout the week. Their food is also pretty good when it comes to Asheville's competitive restaurant scene. If you're looking for some good diner or bar food they definitely have it going on. Their Mac & Cheese Bites are dangerously good. Their bowling and shoe rental prices are pretty consistent throughout the week. Rarely going over $4 for each. Sky-Lanes is great for dates, group parties, or just a few friends wanting a laid back activity. read more

I don't Sport (especially competitively) but when I do, bowling is probably about it for me. XD I came here on a Sunday to celebrate my yoga teacher's birthday, so we were a small group of 4. It's not an extravagant bowling alley, but it was clean and had a cute mural that I assume glows in the dark for special bowling nights. That evening we came in and it wasn't especially crowded. We got some beer and I was impressed with the diner menu they had going on. A little more than your usual fries, hotdog, and hamburger so that was great. Bf and I ordered fries and chicken wings while the other two later ordered fried pickles and jalapeño poppers. Everything was tasty (although I don't know what made their "Korean" chicken wings labeled as such- just tasted like spicy barbecue), and we had a great time with each other laughing and bowling. The only downside of the evening was that when we got there, we immediately had the feeling they were closing soon and that feeling never went away. We got there at 8 and waited on our friends for a half an hour, so started playing at 8:30 and they close at 10. Plenty of time to get in a game or two! But the lackluster attitude of the guy who gave us our shoes, to cleaning up things early, to a fun blinking message on our screen at 9pm warning us that they closed IN AN HOUR that stayed on until we were finished, was definitely a bummer and not welcoming in the slightest. :( Overall, I felt our experience was okay. I would try it out again if I was in the mood to bowl, but definitely not the greatest first impression. Fingers crossed for next time! read more

Is any bowling alley really GREAT? Seldom. This one is, however, by far the better choice in Asheville. Seldom very crowded, friendly attentive staff, and most importantly, lanes that freaking WORK. In 10 games, we've yet to have a single hiccup on any of our lanes. Compare that to the place across town, where we're lucky to make it 5 frames before something breaks catastrophically. My favorite place to bowl. Older and a more run down then most of the other alleys in Asheville, but the prices and atmosphere can't be beat. For only 3.50 a game it's really the best deal around especially for a larger group of people. The staff is friendly and karaoke nights are always a blast. read more

I really like Skylanes. The place was really run down for years and the new owners bought it and have made it very nice they remodel put in a new kitchen updated the bathrooms replace the carpet it looks really great in there. Their equipment seems to work well and bowling is very fast and efficient. However in this review I specifically in talking about their food. We were a party of five early on Sunday afternoon and ordered for meals for the five of us. Two of us ordered their signature cheeseburgers. The hamburgers were cooked well beyond well done they were crispy little hockey pucks with no juice whatsoever inside. I was not able to eat mine and threw it away. We did find a bright spot on the menu. The chicken fingers were cooked well ;they were flavorful and the fingers were a nice size. I thought after they put in the new kitchen they were going to really work hard on their food. It all seems like it comes out of the freezer. Lastly, their idea of a pizza is a criminal affair. They're little square pizzas like are served in the lunchroom at school. The pizza was disgusting and not fit for human consumption. read more

First time back at Sky Lanes since the bar remodel. The bar is updated, really nice and they've extended their drink selections to include a lot of local beers. The only thing missing is Jell-O shots. They close at 12 on week nights but the staff made it very clear they wanted is out at 11:30 which lost them a star. Bowling was cheap and fun. read more

Used to be my favorite place to bowl, but ever since they remodeled they have started having leagues bowling almost every day. It makes it almost impossible to get one of the 5ish lanes they have left over. So unless you want to pay more to bowl on Friday or saturday, or join a league, then you're best bet would be save yourself the trip down and maybe try wii bowling instead. read more

An employee yelled at a group of people when he could have approached them in a professional manner. Won't return.

The staff at sky lanes are the rudest people and this is the worst place to go bowling, I asked someone to move there phone from the only seat available in our lane so me and my girlfriend would have somewhere to sit and put our belongings. The guy gave me a rude/ mean look and we just ignored it. Then a staff member at the food place came over and snatched our ice cups away from us and threw them away. We asked him why he did it and said because we didn't pay for it but we asked him before we got the ice if he wanted us to pay ? He said it's not his fucking rules and we need to follow the rules on the door. But I told him I didn't know and that he didn't need to be smart and appropriate with me or my girlfriend. His language and attitude was completely uncalled for. We didnt deserve to be spoken too or treated that way. We packed or stuff and left and told everyone we didnt appreciate the way they treated us but nobody cared and we never got a I'm sorry. WE WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK HERE. read more

Don't have fun here! There is a self-important troll-woman policing adultness from behind the bar. On a recent trip to these lanes a few friends and I witnessed the bartender scream and curse across the building from behind the bar at two groups of completely sober adult bowlers for acting in ways she said were "not right for adults to act that way". She even refused to serve someone from that group anything from the bar/concessions...even water. The first woman she yelled at was a woman who was walking with her 5-6 year old daughter out on the floor to bowl. Troll-lady seemed furious that there were two people on the floor of a lane... Even though it was a mother helping her wry young daughter. She yelled at them and then ran to get a manager pointing and hollering the whole time. I kid you not. The second was a group of four or five 20-somethings. After one of them would roll a good ball that person would do a dance/little jump while walking back to their seat. Bar-tender lady saw one person hug and lift the person who'd just bowled into the air a little bit while standing by the ball rack and she flew off the handle and started cursing at them. A different person from that group went to the bar 10-15 minutes later to get a water and she told him that she wouldn't serve them anything because they weren't "acting like adults are suppose to act"..... Other than that, we rolled good games. read more

We had a great experience at this establishment. Just a few minor suggestions: Since we are very incompetent, we need bumpers. People over the age of 12 should have the same rights as children. Sorry!! Also, there is a sign that clearly suggested that bowling shoes were for sale. If at all possible, either sell the shoes or make your signs less misleading. However, the fries were most exquisite. Overall, the experience was pleasurable, hence the 4 stars. read more

So I was excited to go bowling with some friends we set everything up and wanted to use bumpers.. well I went to the front desk and asked the lady who was rude if I could get bumpers and she said only kids under 12 could have bumpers and that I would have to ask the manager.. I then said ok fine and she made me interrupt him while he was eating lunch. He was also very rude and when I told him I wanted bumpers he told me they are 2 thousand dollars and once we hit the bumpers he was going to take them down.. not to mention we are petite and cannot throw the ball over 10 mph anyways.. in the middle of our game our lane broke so we went up and asked nicely if it could be re set and she wasn't able to answer me because she had a mouth full of food. was between putting 2 and 3 stars. The 2 stars is because of unprofessional rude management. So we had an 11 year olds BIRTHDAY PARTY. The package was $12 a kid. included an hour of bowling, shoes, and a choice of pizza, hot dog, and grilled cheese i'm pretty sure. But then.... the girls game was cut off/shut down at the one hour mark unfinished. .wish they would have told us that! Oh well.. Ok. Then.. the food comes... the girls chose pizza of course. I wish I had taken a picture of these pieces of pizza. it was so bad they did NOT eat it. Myself personally, i will eat anything.. but just the look of this pizza was like burnt school pizza, left out for a week. i didn't think pizza could look stale just after cooking. We are an easy crowd but my husband had to talk to a manager about the food.. it was unacceptable. Long story short.. the manager was RUDE.
