The goods: - open at the early-ish hour we needed to see the game - space for a group of 15-20 to gather and sit in the bar area and order at the bar - food and drink and plenty of it - a HUGE space with bar-service area, seated large group area, table service area, and a game room. The meh: - personally, the food was nothing to write home about. It got the job done but I remember literally nothing about it. - servers and bartenders seemed really cranky and I just didn't want to upset them I would go back if I was with people who really wanted to come here. Every year my wife and I visit her. e on Championship night of the SoCon Basketball Tournament and this year it was no different . The atmosphere is great the food was great and the local beer selection is amazing. I get the fish and chips with onion rings and it is always good and my wife ate the burger and she said it was one of the best that she has had in the Asheville area. We have also had the French dip and the wings and they are all great. This is our 5th year in a row and next year will be our 6th so we will be back. Also the service is really great ! read more

How could anyone give this place a bad review??? It's severely underrated! We were in the area of downtown Asheville visiting. The main drag was packed with 2 plus hour waits. We kept exploring and stumbled upon the Bier Garden. Several people arrived at the same time we did. The service was not bothered. They attended to us quickly and with a smile. Our server Fran was super friendly and helpful. We ordered the pork belly bites as an app, the Reuben and the bratwurst sandwiches. The fries and onion rings were really good too! The restaurant was very authentic and I don't normally include the restrooms on my reviews but they were clean and smelled good. I highly recommend you move off the beaten path and give them a try. These folks are amazing. We arrived at our hotel in Asheville, NC around 9:30pm. We were hungry, tired from driving, and we're told by hotel staff their restaurant would still be opened and serving until 10pm. Unfortunately the chef and staff decided to close the hotel restaurant right as we got there. So our restaurant quest began for the evening. Being a week day, most local restaurants were closing early as well. We we're told to check out the Bier Garden to see if they were still serving. We walked down the street to it, and when we got there the bartender told us their kitchen had just closed as well. As we began to head back to our hotel, one of their employees, Nathan grabbed us and said, "Don't leave just yet, let me take your order, check with my manager in the back, and we'll take care of you. Meanwhile, go up to the bar and let them know I'll start your tab. You can sit wherever you want" ... and sure enough they took care of us. I'm not sure Nathan's position at the restaurant, but he's definitely managerial quality, and his quality of customer service is rare today. I do highly recommend this place. The food is great and the staff is thoughtful and accommodating. We give a shout out to Katie behind the bar as well. Good food and good service. Highly recommend. read more

It's a solid experience. The food was decent and the inside was just like a sports bar. The burger was perfectly cooked to order (though my sweet potato fries were a bit soggy - almost like they were microwaved) but my husband and son enjoyed their meal. We have been here several times. The food is good and the beer is cold. Husband had a burger and fries. It was delicious. I had the grilled cheese. It was supposed to be on sourdough bread which would have made it a 10 out of 10, however it was on white bread. Not crusty delish sourdough as I expected but thick cut grocery store white bread. Please do not say it's sourdough if it's not. End of story. I would come back for a beer but not food. The staff were lovely though. read more

MY sister and I ate here and we both ordered their fish & chips and a local Asheville Brewing Perfect Day IPA ($3.00 pints, can't be beat!). The fish was beer battered and not overly deep fried like some places where it is too crispy. The fries were nice and golden fried too. We asked for malt vinegar because that is the way to go with fish and chips. Definitely a good place to visit in Asheville after a visit to the Biltmore. We had a great time and the restaurant itself presented very well. I loved all of the TV's so no matter where you sat you could see the game. The food was ok and the drinks were good. A few people on the waitstaff were SO unprofessional. I understand a restaurant is not a "professional" setting but they need to dress better. I personally don't care what you wear, however one person on waitstaff was wearing spaghetti straps. They waited on the table next to us and I was so glad it wasn't our server. Every time this person reached in with a plate of food it was such a turn off. If you work around food, you need at the very least, short sleeves. I don't need someone's exposed armpit near my food. Stopped in here for some Beers this afternoon. The place was nice , clean and cool. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. The group I was with enjoyed there time here. The fish and chips tasted yummy. It had a good, crunchy fry, in clean oil. The skin-on fries were tasty. The remoulade and tartar sauces tasted good too. Cole slaw was basic. Service was friendly and attentive. Did not expect to hear bad country music so loud on a Tuesday for lunch.
