This is a private club so be prepared to become a member which is no big deal. This is no doubt a dive bar but the kind you sometimes just want to go to. Prices were very reasonable the bartender Jess was super friendly!! For this to be a dive bar everything I could see it was very clean and they had a good selection of beer. I've seen nicer restaurants in the area that had less beer and drink options to choose from. For the location of this bar they seemed to have decent parking with both spaces in the front and a lot in the rear. They do NOT serve food! They offer chips, nuts, and hot pockets for sale; however they permit you to bring your own food or have food delivered and provide utensils and napkins and what not to use. read more

Three of us walked into this bar to order a round of drinks and the bartender named Jen told us to hold on for a few minutes while she fixed the point of sales system. We told her no problem and waited at the bar. After about ten minutes of sitting at the bar, Jen told us that she could not serve us because she could not get the point of sales system to work. We told her that we just wanted to get a round of beers and would pay cash if the register was not working. There were close to a dozen people drinking and playing pool, none of whom were having any trouble being served. Still, she refused to accept our money and immediately became very hostile with us. She then asked us "if we were even from North Carolina." The three of us were completely stunned that not only would we not be served, but we were now being asked to leave the bar all together. The three of us have all worked in the bar industry and none of us could comprehend the complete lack of respect which we were receiving from this person. Throughout this entire experience, I could not help but think about what the owner of this bar would do if they had witnessed this: Three people enter your bar and ask for beers, you tell them no because "you can't get the cash register to work," the three people offer to pay cash, you tell them no and then ask them to leave because they are not from around here. Something about this bar feels so quintessentially North Carolina that I have a very tough time expressing why I was so instantly captivated by it. Maybe it's the fact that it's a carpeted bar. When was the last time you were in a bar that had wall to wall carpet? It makes this place feel snug, and reminds me of the dive bars I used to patronize when I was but a wee legal laddy. Maybe it's the back pool/ping pong table and the enclosed patio area in the back? It's a smokers oasis, especially during the winter when they drop the plastic sides down to keep you insulated against the weather. Maybe it's the very pleasant bartenders, who are charming and conversational, while making sure that everyone is supplied with liquid libations. If you consider this place a dive bar, it's a dive bar of the highest order. There's a great selection of spirits, 6 beers on draft including some of the more limited release offerings from Sierra Nevada, TV's for your sport watching needs, and one of those new fangled giant touch screen juke boxes. If billiards is your preferred sport, bring your A game. Frazier's seems to be a haunt for talented masters of the cue. Sometimes I like to play a game or two, but I was definitely observed by players with actual skill, who would wince at my shot attempts. read more

I went here after shooting pool at Getaway 3 nights in a row (amazing place to go, great vibes and friendly staff btw) and wanted to get some more games going. Walked up to the bar, the bartender Jen told me the computer was down so i sat down at the bar giving her time to fix it. Despite having cash in hand, then offering to pay for beers with the cash after waiting 10 minutes at the bar while she asked some guy playing pool to come behind the bar and look at the system, i also noticed how everyone else in the room had drinks somehow, clearly there was a way to get drinks out to the people. She then became hostile towards me and I felt very unsafe immediately. She demanded to know where I was from (why should that matter, I feel it was because of how I look, being from out of town). She then became hostile demanding I leave so I compiled and immediately left because of the unsafe and xenophobic environment Jen created. Over all it was a massive disappointment and a place you should avoid visiting while in the area. Honestly a frightening experience from a town where anyone from anywhere should feel welcome and accepted. read more

Frazier's has become a second home to me in the few months I've been in Asheville. The vibe here varies drastically from night to night depending on what's going on in town and the overall season but if you want a chill place to hang out in a quiet but sociable group, this is your spot. It's carpeted and that, alone, says a lot. Amy, Jackie, Jess and Kevin will take care of you for all the drinks you would care to consume. There's little more than packaged crisps on the menu but you're free to order in from any of the AMAZING restaurants in the area and eat at one of the tables inside, or on the back patio/smoking area. Free pool four nights a week, $1 per game the remaining nights. By the inane laws of NC this is a "private club" but like all "bars" here, membership is trivial and inexpensive. It's a hole-in-the-wall place, but these are always the best places I've found. If you have the chance, visit. Just eat first, or plan to later. Play pool, ping-pong or just shoot the breeze with your friends or the regulars, there is no wrong way to be here! read more

This place is perfect. The pool is often free. The beer is always cheap. The juke box is filled with good tunes on the ready. The football is all over the TVs. The people are no bullshit. It's got carpet on the floors for God's sake. Come here if you're not afraid of people giving real talk and just being part of their neighborhood. Another establishment that makes me wish I were in town more often. This place is whatever you make it. read more
