Instead, I was met with hostility and left in tears with an entirely incorrect cake on the day of the party. The Timeline: * Thursday: I called to reschedule the Friday (8/14) pickup to Saturday. The bakery put me on hold for 20 minutes because they lost my receipt. Once found, a very distinct employee (the only young Black male working there) explicitly confirmed a Saturday (8/15) pickup at 12:00 PM. * Saturday: I arrived at 3:00 PM. No cake was ready. The owner (a white man) aggressively claimed he personally spoke to someone who changed the date to Monday, 8/17. When I asked who he spoke with, he literally said, "I don't know" because this was straight up BS. * The Confrontation: Instead of showing empathy 3 hours before a landmark party, the owner became accusatory. He demanded to know why he would have told his baker Monday if I hadn't said so. He refused to acknowledge he simply mixed up his orders and there was no apology. The Outcome: They offered a late delivery and a measly $50 refund on a $300 order. I am disappointed with my experience. We purchased a custom baby shower cake for approximately $390. The cake was transported upright and secured in the vehicle and never fell. Upon arrival, we discovered that the cake had shifted and sustained damage while still inside the packaging. When we contacted the bakery, we were immediately blamed for the damage and accused of transporting the cake improperly. At no point were we provided with a written transport policy, liability waiver, or handling instructions before pickup. Despite this, the bakery refused to discuss a reasonable resolution and was dismissive throughout the interaction. My biggest issue was not the damage itself, but the lack of professionalism and customer service when attempting to address the problem. read more

In addition you can't get a hold of anyone over the phone. either the mailbox is full or you keep having to leave a message. If I could give this place NO stars I would.. 1st of all.. the pastries are not that tasty.. DRY even for the price that they are asking for. Also I was treated very poorly when I went to the store I felt as if my business was not wanted after asking about a cake order.. they were kind of rude. My girlfriend and I wanted to get some pastries, but we were not greeted in a kind fashion and I hate to be this person.. but I over heard the manager/ worker say that she wished another employee was fired..(the employee she was speaking of was a person of color.. and she was not.) I was so disappointed in this bakery. Upon entering for my very first time, I was intrigued, excited, and hopeful! The bakery itself is very inviting and the work displayed looks amazing. We even tried a few treats the day we placed our order, that were good. I gave pictures of my wants and and discussed it with the person taking my order. I did however think it was pricy but I needed to get an order placed before it was too late. When I picked my cake up I was so disappointed! The cake looks nothing like the pictures I showed them. They clearly did what they wanted to do with my order! When I complained, the lady made excuses and offered me $15 off which was unacceptable! I continued to complain as she made excuses about the person who usually does fondant being out, which isn't the customers problem. If they felt they couldn't handle the order, they shouldn't have accepted it! At the time of pick up, I felt I needed the cake because my son's party was the next day. The lady then told me she could only offer a $25 dollar discount at most. My cake ended up being about $150 for a 9in round cake that they completely screwed up. I was told to contact the manager blah blah. It's important to mention that there were TWO other families in the bakery complaining during my time there as well. I feel like the manager could have reached out to me. I will never use this business again. I should also mention that the cake was dry and there didn't seem to be any purée with the strawberry filling. I have 3 daughters so I always ordered my daughter's cakes here in the past. I stopped going there couple years ago and In April 2020 I went back because my daughter wanted a unicorn cake. I love the cake and how it's decorated so pretty how I wanted it. The cake isn't the problem it's the customer service. That is why I gave it 3 stars. When we went to order the cake their was a Hispanic young lady around her early 20s and she just gave me attitude and it seemed like she did not wanna be there at all. I say if you don't like your job then don't work there and find a job you will be happy at so you can treat your customers nicely and friendly. The cakes aren't cheap at all they are expensive especially if you are ordering one just the way you want it . *Sigh* Where do I start? My mother and I get there the Wednesday, two days before my cousin's son's graduation. The first thing I noticed was that the overall decor and look of the place was a little outdated. While we were waiting to place the order for the cake, another customer was quite upset about the cupcakes she got. They made the pictures on her cupcakes way too small for the size of the cupcakes. The lady basically just said sorry, their mistake, and that was that. Seeing that upset customer made me think it was a bad idea to order a cake from there, however, it wasn't for my party, nor was it my own cake. Problem 1 My cousin wanted a vanilla cake with strawberry filling. They said the don't do vanilla cakes. Wtf??? Vanilla is one of the basic flavors you should have for a cake. It's part of the chocolate, strawberry, vanilla trio. How do you not make vanilla cakes at a bakery?? They could do yellow cakes. Fine. The fondant on the cake was supposed to be maroon and gold for the school colors. They said they don't do metallics, so the closest "gold" fondant color we could get is yellow. -_-' Problem 2 They charged for literally everything. My cousin wanted a book cake with a banner saying Class of 2016 and a cap. They charged $10 for the banner, $2 for each letter on the banner, and $10 for a cheap looking plastic cap. When we got the cake, however, they made the cap out of fondant and cake because the plastic one was too small for the size of the cake. They didn't charge for that but my cousin still payed for the plastic cap that didn't end up on the cake. Problem 3 The price was $195, down payment of $95. From the looks of the other cakes I knew the cake wasn't worth the price. You could see bumps and waves under the fondant from where the cakes were uneven so I wasn't expecting anything great come the day of the graduation. But I kept my mouth shut because it wasn't my cake, it wasn't my party and I just wanted my cousin and her son to have a good time. Oh, and cancellation was 20% of the order. Now for the actual cake. It tasted like freaking box cake. Mofo-ing Betty Crocker box cake. The strawberry filling was some artificial syrup with some strawberries chopped in it (at least those were real). You could tell they didn't make the filling and that it was something artificial and pre-made from a container that they mixed with strawberries and put inside the cake. The ratio was off. You know the cakes you get that have 70% frosting and 30% cake? Yeah. The fondant was cracking, the buttercream was artificial and grainy, ugh!!!! Gees, basically everything about this cake was bad and for $200?? Not acceptable. What were they charging for? Because the quality of the ingredients were crap. If they're charging for skill they need reevaluate their whole business because the skill just isn't there. The cake was worth no more than $40. Seriously, save your money and go elsewhere like the Swedish Bakery. If you're pressed to time and want a quality cake, I would honestly just go to Whole Foods. read more

A few years ago (yes this is way overdue) I heard that Ace Bakeries had great erotic cakes, so of course I had to check them out. While they are more relevant for bachelor or bachelorette parties, I didn't have any coming up at the time so I got a butt cake for my friend's birthday. It was a huge hit! Her initial reaction was to grab both cheeks (picture attached). The salvageable portion was delicious - very light with fantastic whipped cream frosting. You know when you're just a little hungry and need just a little something...something. Ace is the place, nah not for nuts and bolts but for a cupcake. This is a regular unpretentious neighborhood bakery. A well rounded selection of cakes, cookies and well that bakery stuff. A couple of round tables if you just can't wait to get your sweet on until you get home or even back to your car. The cupcake, was darn good not anything to rave about. It was a cupcake, let's not get all gourmet about it. I brought home some cookies, those were good too. What I really liked about it, was the way I was greeted. This was my first time in the place, and I'm sure they have their regulars. They made me feel like one of them. We're doing a little house hunting now, and always while looking around I like to try out the local businesses to get a feel for the area. This is my first time ordering a cake from Ace, I have tasted there cake long long ago when my brother's child's mother bought my mother a cake from there for mothers day it was sooo good. So for my mother 58th bday since this bakery was closer and I'm traveling on the bus I decided to order her cake here. This bakery has a beautiful array of treats and after I placed my order for pick up the next day I purchased the strawberry cake (delish!), the atomic cake, which has a layer of yellow cake and devil's food (chocolate) cake with whipped cream, strawberry and banana filling (very tasty) the cake slices vary from 2.75-3.75 in price per slice. Also you can use credit, cash, and link or EBT benefits for payment of cake/ food items. My mother's cake was gorgeous when I recieved it it was purple and silver with my mom's picture on the cake and the cake was very affordable. The staff was very helpful and nice and they don't make you wait long. The cake was not to sweet was a lil on the dry side to me when I eat devil's food I want it to be sinfully moist and rich and it makes me feel guilty when I eat it! but overall I will order from here again until I get my car then I might try Roeser's again.
