Randomly stopped here with a friend that has visited before and it was a good experience. The store isn't huge, but it isn't crowded inside. This store has just about everything you could be looking for! They also had a sale for wigs (2 for $50) which isn't a bad price. Bad Situation Turned Good…read more This past Friday, November 17th, I purchased two Andis products from this store (1 Andis Profoil Shaver /1 Andis T-Outliner). To my dismay after returning home, while attempting to turn on the T-Outliner, I found it to be inoperable. Unable to return the product that day due to a weekend trip out of town, I returned to the store today to exchange this product and to ask about the possibility of exchanging the "Andis" Shaver for a "Wahl" Shaver. Upon my return to the store, I had a negative experience with "Jay", the store manager. He questioned me (did you drop it?) and alluded to me being untruthful after seeing a hair follicle on the side of the T-Outliner (which may have been picked up from my bathroom while using another product). After some back and forth, between myself, my brother and Jay, Jay tested the product and confirmed that it did indeed not work. He tested another T-Outliner and allowed me to exchange the defective product for the working one. Consequently, after Jay opened the box for the Shaver, he identified hair shavings inside the blade opening, keeping in mind I had not opened the box. I was shocked by this. Jay informed me that he could not exchange the shaver and that the new Outliner was non-returnable. After this interaction, I was angered and very offended. I quickly decided to call back to the store to gain the owner's contact information to further discuss the matter. After making several attempts to call, I finally got in touch with someone. To my dismay, it was Jay, the associate I had interacted with prior. Jay informed me that he was the owner. I explained to him how I had felt about his rudeness and after several minutes of talking, Jay apologized and informed me that he would accommodate my need to exchange the shaver. Long story short, Jay handled our altercation in a professional manner. He admitted that he had maybe based our interaction from past experiences from customers that tried to get over on them. I definitely understand this viewpoint, as I have worked customer service for several years. Overall, Jay made my day by taking time to hear me out and assisting me. I will definitely return to this store just because of how this young man handled this situation. He owned up to his mistake and helped me out in the end.I have much respect for him and his willingness to turn a bad situation into a very positive one. Thanks Jay! I would normally shop Black-owned beauty supply stores for specifically Black hair care products, but I did not feel like driving all the way to Richway especially during rush hour traffic. Customer service here was subpar, which is usually expected with these type of businesses (Asian-owned in predominantly Black areas). I was not greeted upon entry. Fortunately, I wasn't followed around. They had a decent variety of products; however, not as much as Richway or even Beauty 21 (which isn't Black-owned, but the store has a large variety and I'm usually greeted). Prices here are about the same as most beauty supply stores. You need to purchase $5 worth of products to use a credit/debit card. I was thanked for my purchase, but not told to have a good day. I probably won't return unless I absolutely needed something and couldn't make it out to Richway or even Beauty 21 in time. I would have preferred to spend my money at Richway.
