I have just had what was possibly the best iced latte of my life. It was smooth, creamy, and rich in flavour without any bitterness. I wish it could have been larger, but the iced drinks come in one size. I wish it could be so large that I could ride a latte wave into a latte pool in which I would swim forever, but I will have to simply fantasize about my next visit. I don't know how they do it but ACE Coffee seems to have figured out how to make the best coffee in town. I've tried their coffee at Bountiful Farmer's Market and now here at ground zero. It's simply just right. Today I ordered a Macchiato which is kind of like an expresso for gentlemen (you can use that quote if you like it). Most of the seating is outside which seems odd for a city like Edmonton. There certainly is room for casual seating inside so possibly in the pre-pandemic world they did have inside seating. They also sell two or three types of baked goods, which mainly consists of donuts. If you are near the Avenue (east) or at Bountiful, I definitely recommend ACE Coffee . Found this gem of a place on whyte ave today! Literally thought it was a grocery store from Outside but it's an actual very sleek brewing coffee shop! They roast the beans in house and the beans come from South America and Africa. They have various different blends and flavours for coffee. We got the light roast with chocolate notes in their drip coffee and espresso. I loved my light roast with the chocolate and my hubby who is really particular about his espresso enjoyed it as well. Ace is another new spot to open up in the very up and coming area just east of Whyte. We were lured in by one of their posts advertising doughnuts on a lazy Friday afternoon. Hours are currently Friday to Sunday (8:00am to 4:00pm). I'm sure that will change soon. The inside is a coffee hipster haven. Great lighting, spacious and several areas to sit at (including benches outside). Everything looks great aesthetically but man oh man, the seats are hard as rock. Your tush will not be happy after. They've got lots of different merch on sale. Love their logo/design/branding. There's even an area, Caffe Tech, where you can peruse various types of espresso machines. You've got a few extra thousand lying around right? - Americano ($3.50) - Bree thought it was pretty solid. Price pretty reasonable too. - Six pack ($10.00) - normally, each donut is $2.50 but they had a half dozen special going on. We tried the brown butter, Nutella bombolone, lemon pistachio, chocolate, custard bombolone and strawberry bombolone. My favourite was the brown butter. Great texture and simple. Next fav was the chocolate. The bombolones were decent but needed more filling. We also couldn't taste much lemon or pistachio in the lemon pistachio. Cool spot to wile away an afternoon or even to get some work done. Perfect spot to drop by while you're near Whyte. read more

We decided to visit ACE because we have been big fans of their coffee and Leva, their sister café, for a long time. And with over 25 years of experience in the coffee game, you've likely seen or tried ACE coffee over the years. The drink menu is your standard coffee shop menu - espressos, Americanos, cappuccinos etc. One unique menu item is the "French press for two", ideal for sharing on an afternoon date. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. There are cake and yeast doughnuts for you to choose from, along with several flavors (I recommend the chocolate glaze). They also have croissants and other baked goods. Most of the baked goods are made at Leva. ACE is located just off of Whyte Ave. There is no private parking lot but street parking is available. They are currently open Friday to Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. The space is trendy and inviting, with quite a bit of seating, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a table to sit. Ace has been on my list forever! So I was so happy to finally check it out. First off, I love the location just behind the Ave. It makes it a bit more peaceful, but still super easy to access. The cafe itself has more of a warehouse meets forest vibe with its wooden stools and large industrial ceilings. They roast their beans on-site, so you can imagine that their coffee is superb. When you walk in here, it doesn't feel like you're in Edmonton anymore. Super high ceilings, spacious cafe with giant windows. You're greeted by a beautiful display of their gorgeous donuts and a friendly barista. They have a half dozen donut special for $10 which is totally worth it. My faves were the brown butter, Nutella filled and custard filled. The donuts and fluffy and light. Drinks were also delicious. Got a cappuccino and I'm not usually a coffee drinker (they don't offer any non caffeinated drinks, which makes sense because they're a roaster) but it wasn't too bitter. Very creamy and enjoyable! Not only were they terrific in dealing with the issue, but they took the time to walk me through my options, which ended up in a different model that we love. We received a gift card ($5 off) for Ace after buying a gift at Christmas. The gift card has only Ace's logo on it and no expiry date. We tried to buy some coffee beans online but the transaction wouldn't go through. We went in to see if we might redeem the card in person. The manager came to the front, looked at the card and told us, indifferently, the card was no longer valid. As I say, no expiry date on the card. We were trying to do what the card incentivized, which was to go into Ace and spend money. The manager seemed to have an Instagram post he needed to finish as our business was not his concern. New cafe off whyte! With lots of free street parking. My first impression when walking in- wow SO pretty! Very hipster and bright. As for seating, not my favorite as their seating is pretty sparse for the large space and not very comfy. But there are lots of benches outside, good for summer seating. Note the Hours are only fri, sat and Sunday. Also attached to the cafe, is their own roaster and little shop where they sell high end latte/coffee machines. They offer a few coffee options and donuts. Lattes are $5, donuts are $2.50 each. We tried the latte and glazed donut- nothing spectacular for both; donut was a bit small and nothing special for the price, probably will pass on it next time. Lattes were not bad, a medium roast. Overall, the highlight was the ambience, a very nice looking cafe! It is a very unique cafe worth checking out if you're around whyte. read more

I'm visiting Edmonton this weekend and so happy to be able to dovetail my visit with the opening hours of the cafe at Ace Coffee Roasters. It's only open Fri-Sun (currently- this really should change as a space this beautiful deserves more opening hours!) and I made it in right after they opened doors at 8am today (it's a Friday). WOW. Just WOW. First impression: this is GORGEOUS. Now I've been to high-design coffeehouses all over the world and this is simply one of the most gorgeous I've ever seen. Granite all over the place and the centre island with a 5-group- yes, FIVE- Izzo lever machine is dramatic. There is a display case with donuts done like jewelry. Stunning end to end. I got a donut, which was fine but not devastating, and a cappuccino that was, my God it was excellent. Ace is modifying their roast to be a bit more medium than it was last time I was in town and I'll want to buy a bag of this for sure.The milk was silky perfection. mmmm, love this little hidden gem! I was out for a walk on a Saturday when we stumbled upon this super cool coffee shop/Roaster. I have had Ace coffee at a few different places in the city but didn't realize they were tucked away so close to where I live! The building is super interesting, sort of an industrial building that has been refurbished to look new and trendy. They have cute wooden tables and chairs, it would be a nice place to get some work done! The coffee was so smooth and they also have house-made doughnuts! The doughnuts were really tasty and went well with the coffee I had. They offer a regular coffee house menu for drinks which I was fine with, since I just wanted a latte, which came out nice and hot. The only negative is the coffee shop is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but it's definitely worth checking out on the weekend! read more

I've been here a couple times . Since i'm not a hipster by nature i'm not really impressed by the coffee shop itself . It's kind of a smoke and mirrors place. I've had an americano which was quite small compared to other places and a double espresso. They tasted ok but nothing special . The doughnut i had was just meh. The decor is minimalist with wide open space with an island in middle where the barista makes the coffee and takes orders. He was the only one doing the work when i went in. The seating is all unfinished looking wood and not very comfortable. Like maybe ikea type stuff. Along the walls and in a separate room are coffee beans and coffee makers for sale. The espresso machine room is the best part of the place with dozens of $4000 and up espresso machines which can be art works in themselves. Cool. Their coffee beans are expensive to buy. Location is a couple blocks back of whyte and they are only open fri,sat,sun for 8hrs a day. Worth going to check out the blingy espresso machines. read more

I went here with my wife today and was very disappointed with the quality of the service. The people that work here seemed to lack enthusiasm and in my wife's words, "allergic to smiling". When I initially went up to the counter to say hello to the red haired girl at the front, her response was not to say anything back but to give me the "what the fuck do you want?" look. We noticed this same type of demeanor with the other customers that came in after us. With a market that is saturated with coffee shops, service quality is what is going to bring people back. I am glad I had the chance to see this beautiful establishment but will most likely not come back here again. read more

The complete lack of customer service at this location is horrible. Cafe Tech staff are arrogant and borderline abusive.
