They solved several unusual problems particular to my ancient masonry. I requested a quote for installation of my reclaimed solid walnut mantle shelf. I was quoted $300 more than what I paid, $1,500.00, which was a pretty penny. Guy was nice because he looked around my home and saw money. When I received the quote and asked how long it would take, no response was given. Big red flag-shady. Did it myself for fifty bucks in materials, which included a $10 masonry bit (tool to use again), and it took three hours. Five hundred an hour is fifty dollars more than what I pay my lawyer. Save your money, choose another company Or do it yourself. read more

After leaving the previous bad review, MCP called and scheduled an assessment that week and got the work done the following week. The masonry patching / repointing looks good. The areas around the window and door look to be sealed properly. And the communication and scheduling was very professional. September 21, 2023 MCP Chimney and Masonry did a complete reclining of my basement chimney, which was no easy task because it had several turns. They showed up on time and did a fantastic job and when they left you wouldn't even have known they where there. I haven't had the opportunity to use my wood stove in my basement yet but I am sure it won't be long. Even though I hate winter, I love the heat from a fire place or wood stove. Purchased my wood burning stove through them, have researched I was impressed by the owner who explained the wood burning stove. Once installed noticed that the wood burning stove was not working properly and installed incorrectly to correct the situation the company sent out workers to fix, unfortunately it was done incorrectly and it required a third gentleman to correct others mistake and the owner offering a free cleaning/inspection of my chimney a year later. That person came out very knowledgeable and we were impressed again. Well recently due to the wind (keep in mind I've had this chimney for now 1 year at this point) my chimney rain cap blew off, the last person on my roof was a person from MCP Chimney to inspect from March of this year, so naturally I called the company back to explain that it blew off and if someone can please come out, they ignored the fact that I was repeat customer and said we are very busy and the soonest that someone can come out is December 15. Please be prepared to receive subpar service when dealing with MCP Chimney. read more

I used to use Canterbury Chimney before he retired. This company wanted to charge me $800 for the exact same job that Canterbury only charged me $230 as part of my routine annual chimney cleaning. This company considers it additional, my other option being to replace the liner for several thousands more. What? They never even vacuumed the chimney. They inspected it and charged $169. Never again. I gave 2 stars only because the technicians were pleasant and respectful. read more

Used MCP once for a chimney cap and they did a good job. Used them again for an inspection and was disappointed. Charged me $169 for a 20 min inspection with no report. Would not credit the inspection fee to the cleaning and never followed up to schedule the cleaning. Cleaning to remove creosote glaze was quoted at $800. I called Aragon instead and got two great guys out who did the job for $300. read more

Sorry to say but this was a bad experience. We had our chimney inspected by them supposedly using a camera etc. The report came back & said everything was fine and it was OK to use the fireplaces. I followed up with the inspector Justin who told he he lowered a camera down our flues etc. After seeing the photos I got suspicious so I asked him detailed questions. Several stories later it turns out he never did anything but take photos with his cell phone standing on the roof looking down the chimney. I could have done that for free! We then had a different company do an inspection and they lowered a professional camera down the flues and also from inside the home looking up. They found several areas of damage and suggested to NOT use the fireplaces until repairs are done. They did not give us an estimate, just an inspection by our request. To say Justin tried to deceive us by lying is an understatement. Unethical practice. Cannot be trusted. read more

We used a competitor for years to annually clean our chimney. That company noted problems and proposed to rebuild the chimney as a cost in excess of $10,000. We got a second opinion from MCP. They explained the issues leading to the other company's recommendation, and also why their evaluation was faulty. MCP did note problems, but was able to fix all for less than a tenth of the other company's bid. We will be using MCP Chimney for the annual cleanings moving forward. read more

We had a problem with a leak in the ceiling of our rec room. Because of the great previous work MCP had done for us last year, I asked them to come out. A service man arrived quickly, inspected the ceiling, grabbed his ladder,went onto the roof and fixed the problem. The whole event lasted less than 1/2 hour. He also fixed the doors AND wrote an estimate for new ones if I want that. On March 12th and 13th 2020 MCP Chimney installers were replaced an existing knee wall in my back yard. I discovered my AC was not working in May 2020 and contacted my Home Warranty company who sent a technician on June 2, 2020. The HVAC tech was unable to determine an issue with my outdoor AC Condenser and reported to me it would be $680 for a line test and approximately $1500 to replace the line if that was even the issue. My Home Warranty would of course not cover this charge. I decided to replace the system after spending an excess of $1200 on refurbishing the condenser in April of 2019. In June BGE Home came to my home to replace my system where the installer reported to me that the" intake line was the worse pinched line he had ever seen." I could not for the life of me understand how this happened and only could assume it was related to replacing the retaining wall but had no evidence. I was archiving my pictures in my cell phone November 23,2020 and found the pictures that I was taking as the work was being performed on my knee wall. When blowing the area up on my phone it was obvious that the intake line had been re-caulked between March 12th and 13th. I contacted the owner Michael Pentifallo on November 30th where he contacted me immediately, he said he would speak to his installer of 12 years and get back to me. Michael Pentifallo did contact me again on 12/1/20 were he acknowledged that he spoke to the installer Jamie, and of course he said he knew nothing about it. He also said he went to my property on November 30th 2020 without my consent or knowledge, chastised me for not reporting this sooner, acknowledged that the caulk did appear different in the photos, but it was not them it was not the way the conducted business & he would see me in small claims court sense I reported it so late and had no evidence for him to review on site. How would I have evidence if it was discovered as the unit was being replaced? If his installer had been honest this matter would have been quickly resolved. read more

I would give these people NEGATIVE stars if I could. I own a small rental unit managed by a management company. Earlier this year, they said the hearth in the unit needed to be replaced and sent me an estimate for $3,900. I thought it was high and said I would get my own mason to do it. The management company ignored my instructions and had MCP go ahead and do the work. They cut directly into hard wood floors, leaving jagged edges that they neglected to seal. Now all the dust below the subfloor comes up and the tenants want it replaced! I spoke to a marble (yes, they put marble in a rental without asking) supplier and he told me the most expensive piece of marble for that size will not cost over $600. I got another contractor to give me an estimate for the work and he came back with $1,445--marble included!! this is less than half of what McP charged for work that was unacceptable and done incorrectly. So the marble cost them $600 and they did no more than 4 hours of work- for which I got charged $3,300. this is not right! read more
