According to the contract, he was to obtain all permits necessary to start work. He refused to pay for the town permit, or to return my money so I could obtain the permit. When confronted with his unprofessional "we'll just modify the plans as we build" approach, he became very unfriendly and told me this was all my fault. I'm trying to understand why it is my fault that he did not revise the architectural drawings to my satisfaction BEFORE applying for a permit. Steer clear of this organization--buyer beware!

I ultimately chose Sky NRG based on my interaction with her and positive reviews on Google and Reddit. I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Based on the quality of work by Juan and the overall experience with Sky NRG, I opted to have them handle the panel replacement rather than seeking other bids. Juan completed the job, and I'm pleased with the result. I live in Falls Church in a townhouse community that was built in 1987 - all brick with cedar roofs - very nice quality construction. I have lived here since 2001 and E&R has repaired or replaced well over 20 of the 47 homes - they repaired mine about 10 years ago for a minor leak. From the front office team to the onsite craftsmen, they show teamwork and superior customer service - fast and very fair estimates and no overcharges. A month ago, I had E & R do a replacement estimate based on both age and storm damage - the estimate was highly competitive, but I decided on E & R based on their reputation for both high quality product (especially on cedar shingles!), craftsmanship and reliability. If you are reading this know one thing - NOT EVERY COMPANY can do cedar roofs well. E & R are real specialists and their work was EXCEPTIONAL. Their team was onsite for three days and did an unbelievable job - at the same top standard they always do. For our entire community, E & R are the "go to" folks if you want it done right and at the highest quality level. Simply superb - I recommend with NO reservations whatsoever - they are back at my place in the next few weeks for gutter replacement as well. I went ahead and interviewed five of them. A lot of of them seemed a little sketchy or there was something off. This company had so many referrals and actually invited me to addresses of clients who were extremely happy with their work. I went ahead and called two of their clients and asked all the questions I had and was actually impressed by the consistency of what the company told me and the clients told me. The job took about two months and the crews were able to get a lot done within that time. We really love the kitchen layout that was executed on, and they allowed me to create my own design. Permits were legally pulled, communication was consistent and the tile work, cabinetry work, countertop work and flooring work is top notch. My project was complicated because my 1980s drywall shafts were the wrong size for modern solar blinds. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. It is not a simple fix but an upgrade, for free. See the attached before/after pictures and the broken plastic. Like most customers, I contacted a few contractors before selecting Winfield Builders. Their price is VERY reasonable, and the communication through Yelp was professional and transparent. It is rare to find a contractor who cares this much about the details. Replacing the roof took only one day, the crew arrived early and worked very hard. I also had the gutters replaced, opting for 6" gutters.
