This is my go-to hardware store. They always have what I want at reasonable prices and they're conveniently located. So why one star? The surly, impolite young man at check out (late teens, Caucasian or Hispanic, dark hair working the afternoon of September 12). Never said "please," "thank you" or any of those other things folks who have been properly trained in customer service say. I even said to him "it's OK to say please to the customer," but those word didn't penetrate his Gen Z skull. I guess I could have wasted time hunting down a manager to complain, but in the modern era negative Yelp reviews do more good than speaking to a 20-year-old assistant manager. read more

Can never tell when they are open lights are on and door opens if you gently push it but not automatically and the person I spoke with was rude. You need an obvious sign that says closed and better hours. read more

This store is really sucks, i was inside to buy a chlorine for pool and the manager said we can't sale those item because somebody called for that item but i already grab the item before the staff get the item. They should be grab the item first before they told to their customers that they have more in the store. The manager is sucks. He dose know how to talk to their customer. No star at all. read more

I live very close to this store, and have enjoyed the convenience of it for years, and the helpfulness of the staff, however it has changed recently. My past two visits to this store have been met with disappointment and frustration. I was informed by a long term employee that he would no longer cut keys to my blanks as he had done in the past, even if I bought two of their blanks. No explanation, just "no". The time before that I went in for a LP tank exchange, and nobody was at the first counter so I approached to pay and ask for the refill, and right after I arrived, a few other people approached the same counter. I was was ignored by the clerk, who then rudely informed me I needed to wait in line behind the other 3 people who approached after I was already there. I'm bummed that I'm going to have to avoid this store even though it t is very conveniently located. Whoever manages this location needs it to go back to the way it used to be. read more

Went in to rent a carpet cleaner. Staff then was very nice and helpful but when we went back to return it the employees were terrible. Made sure my dad cleaned it before we left and I even double checked so we can get the deposit back. Got there and he looked over it and said it was dirty. I told him the hair at the bottom was there when we got it and asked what else was wrong because we did clean it. The supervisor came out and maybe looked for 2 seconds and said no we won't be giving you your deposit back with no explanation and walked away. The supervisor and employee were rude and unhelpful. Don't waste your time at this overpriced store. read more

I love that there are still smaller hardware stores like Ace. I mean, Home Depot and Lowe's are great stores, but you can get lost. Also, customer service means a lot to me. My whole purpose of coming here was to find a specific light bulb for our kitchen table. I walk in and was immediately asked if I needed help finding something. I was lead to the right aisle, found the bulb, picked up some plastic wall hangers, paid at the counter, was given a thanks for coming and out the door I went. That is all I look for in places like this. The atmosphere doesn't seem sterile and cold. I actually felt welcomed coming in, unlike some of the other places I have been to. read more

People at this store were so rude. Was never willing to help or anything.. Showed us one tool for $100+ so we asked for something a little bit more in our budget and the dude started getting all sour. Never coming back. Go to home depot instead.. it's just a few more minutes away, the workers are always so helpful at home depot, & the products are more affordable.. Horrible horrible first experience. Ran in to have a key made and all 3 people I saw who were working made me feel very welcome! I didn't have a chance to look around the store but it looked like they had a large variety & selection of products. I went here looking for a random brass part to close off an ice maker line on a fridge. I really had no clue what the hell I was doing. I went and asked a billion questions to one of the reps. He didn't get frustrated or annoyed. He was really informative about the different types of lines and connectors. He found exactly what we needed. My two year old also loved walking around and looking at the random stuff in the store. It wasn't like going to a Lowes. It had more of a family feel. read more

I had to run in here for some gardening gloves and from the moment I walked in, every employee was so friendly and attentive. Christina and her male coworker (I wish I had gotten his name) immediately asked me what I was looking for. I told them, they directed me to the exact place I needed to go and I went to the register. One of the sets of gloves didn't have the SKU number on it so the male employee went to grab it and radioed to it her. I was in and out in 5 mins. This was such a pleasant experience. Like a lil' country store! I got a tip that this location sells half-gallon mason jars and, sure enough, they have a great aisle stocked with canning supplies and pressure cookers. Plus, they have spare parts for pressure cookers which can be hard to find locally. Oddly, they have a display of Hawaiian goods - and, should you need a Spam slicer, they have that in the canning aisle too. Staff was friendly and helpful but don't expect to compare Ace to the Home Depot, it's rather a catch all that will have you impulse buying as you determine that you suddenly need a citronella candle (with your name on it) and some lawn darts to go along with your wood stain purchase. As my hubby was viewing axes, I went to the ladies room: 2 sinks, 3 soap dispensers - impressed that the male staff kept things so tidy! read more

Located in the Southern Highlands Center near Smiths. I come here not only for some quick household repair items, but I also come in here to get my local-Hawaiian items. Yes my 808 friends, imagine shopping in a mini Longs. I get my candies and arare here, rather than going to Walgreens. Staff is very friendly and always helpful. I came here with my dogs, I was waiting outside and they let them in the store. They even gave them treats! Give them your business rather than going to your major hardware stores, friendly staff is hard to come by. read more

I buy most house hold improvement items from here. Almost always have good luck (once couldn't get my item as they were out of stock). Staff is super friendly and I don't spend much time looking for anything. Happy that there is a store like this in the area so I don't have to drive far for small stuff. I typically come in the weekends so I run into the same employees who I find knowledgable about the store. I don't ask technical questions so can't comment on how helpful the staff is about explaining how to do house projects. read more

Test EVERYTHING you buy from here. I bought Christmas lights here last year after the Christmas season had passed, didn't open them until yesterday when I was decorating, and found they don't work. Brought them in and the manager told me sorry, no returns or exchanges after 60 days. I have patronized the ACE (HARDWARE) store since the day it opened. I have seen numerous managers come and go as well as employees. Whomever does the ordering in this store needs to pay more attention to the (HARDWARE) part of the store instead of stuffed animals, greeting cards and all the assorted sundry items. The last several times I have shopped for (HARDWARE) items they are either out of stock or have only one of the items. Today I needed two different plumbing parts and the did not have even one of either but the different sizes had at least 20 of each size. I was told it was a popular part. Well then whomever does the ordering should order more, only common sense. It is very frustrating going in a (HARDWARE) store and seeing things totally not related to home items but no electrical parts, plumbing parts. I have went in there for an empty quart paint can for two weeks and there are none. There is one, one gallon paint can but the rest of the entire shelf is empty. I suggest whomever does the ordering actually makes sure if you carry an item make sure you actually have the item. This store has gone down hill with inventory over the last several years. I have tried for two weeks to return some items without a receipt and was told the system is down and they don't know when it will be up. So, I cannot return the items because I do not have the receipt and they cannot look up the item to see I actually purchased it and didn't steal it, SMH. I will tell you why I don't have a receipt. When you buy multiple items and want to return one, with a receipt, they are the only place on the planet, that keeps the receipt with all the other items on it. If you ask for it back they act as if you are asking for the world. Give the receipt back to the customer. Print another for yourself. I suppose now it's going to be COVID that caused this problem. I'm hear to tell you this has been going on since before COVID. I suggest maybe there is a management issue. read more

This is a really friendly store it may be a little high priced but the associates do go the extra mile for customers. Even if they dont have the product they will try to help you find who does have it. I have been in the store and have seen some pretty rotten customers. It's really a shame how some customers act to the people who work there. They clearly state the rules of returning things on the receipt and when checking out their carpet machine they always tell you how to clean it to get your deposit back. I have NEVER had a problem with these guys... keep up the FANTASTIC work guys read more

About a week ago,I went in looking for some contact paper and a sanding block so I could DIY an old desk I had. The first associate I spoke to was very nice, however when I got to the register Jeff (Jeffrey) was quite rude. He didn't ask for my ace rewards number and when I asked him to enter it, he moaned and groaned showing he was very annoyed to enter a simple 10 digit number, actually slamming the keyboard buttons showing he was super annoyed. Anyways, after this I will probably go to home depot or something. They don't really seem like helpful neighbors if you know what I mean. read more

I have been going to this Ace for 5 1/2 years now for lots of different thing I've needed for the house and for garage projects.... even for odd nuts & bolts for my Harley. They have always, always, always been great help and reasonably priced on everything. ALWAYS!! Im so glad I don't have to go to Depot or Lowes, like I do when I'm out on jobs around town sometimes. They are a pain to deal with and have only gotten worse over the years. I love my local Ace!! I cant believe people would drive from Southern Highlands to Depot or Lowes and waste at least an hour of your time in traffic and crowded store for a couple bucks savings!! Your gas will cost more than that... and your sanity costs much more. read more
