Ace Hardware goes out of their way for their customers. Needed a Key Fob replaced for my 2009 Nissan Altima..shopped around and it was like 150.00...and more. Ace Hardware did it at awesome price...had a little trouble at first with installing it was there 3hrs..AAA came to Ace to check things out..not much help. I went there to have two duplicate keys made for my home. - They charged me almost 4 dollars a key. - The first time neither key worked. - I went back the second time, one key worked, one key didn't work. - I went back the third time and that key still did not work. - I went back a fourth time and got a refund. - Final note: at no point in any of these visits did anyone ever apologize. read more

This is a throw back hardware store with a little bit of everything. And they even have people working in dedicated areas to help you. So unusual and refreshing in today's big box world. They knew exactly what I was seeking. And they directed me to the folks who could help me. She showed me what they had in stock. Surprise! This place is horrible. I bought two propane tanks online, one full and one refill, both Blue Rhino. The store was very difficult to find, but the second time around I figured out that I had to make a right hand U turn to get into the parking lot. Once there, I called the store to let them know I had arrived ( I got email confirmation that my order was ready the night before and sent them a confirmation that I was on my way to pick up ) and they knew NOTHING about my order! It took me 10 minutes to explain to the woman who answered the phone what my order was for ( it seemed like she was very hard of hearing or incapable of understanding plain language ). While I was talking to her, there was a bunch of noise in the background like someone operating a belt sander, so I finally gave up and walked in to the store. Sure enough, she was talking to me from the front counter and they had some kind of sander or saw right next to it. I explained again that I was there to pick up two propane tanks and they just looked at me like I had 3 heads! Finally a man came to the front and I explained again to him what I wanted and how I had ordered ahead of time. He to said that he knew nothing about my order, so I showed him all the confirmations and order info on my phone. 20 Minute later, they finally brought me two full tanks of propone, but it was in some 'Cowboy" brand container. As it took me an hour to drive there in heavy traffic, I didn't even bother to argue about it. Then as he was bringing the propane to my car, he told me that he could only give me one tank because I only had one exchange! (WTF?!). I told him "look, I bought one replacement and one FULL!", and again showed him the order receipt. He said "Oh", then gave me both tanks. If you ever order anything from them in advance, don't trust the automated system that tells you your order is ready because these people are lazy and don't care to check. Make sure that you call them in advance and confirm everything, get the name of the person you are talking to, and make sure that they don't swap out your order for some off-brand and rip you off! read more

This neighborhood hardware store is the closest to my condo. So I went to get some spare keys made. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and helped. As I waited for my keys, I noticed the large amount of workers that make the place run smoothly and are available for customer assistance. This level of customer service is seldom seen in the large box stores. So it was really nice. I know that I ever need something, I can get help and and answer at ACE Hardware. As it turned out, one of the 6 keys made, did not work. I went back, and they re-made it. All is good now.... There's free parking in the back. Just near the corner of Commercial and Sea Grape, it's very convenient if you are in LBTS, Galt Mile, Sea Ranch Lakes, etc. read more

Very reassuring too as they speak with practical knowledge and offer great hints learned the hard way by their personal experience. My daughter and I went here on the day before Thanksgiving to get magnets for a wine charm project for the holiday and they helped us pick the best magnets and the best adhesive- easy in and out! I've used this Ace a couple times during a couple projects and it's always gone smoothly. Every time it goes like this: Ya go in, their employee asks what's up, you tell them your dilemma and now it's theirs too, they take you directly to all the sections in question like the one with all the bolts and screws because Toshiba ridiculously doesn't supply the two you necessary for you to mount your TV, they find the exact size-length, bag it, sell it, decent price, painless, friendly and a positive experience. Since you're in Lauderdale by the Sea and at the beach parking costs money in front of the store but here's a secret... park in the back and if there's spots, it's free. Closed on Sundays, but I like that Ace, it's never disappointed. read more

Went there and picked up a grill someone had bought for me online. Got home and realized it was the wrong grill. Called them up and they were very helpful and apologized for the mistake. They ordered me the correct one and even offered to deliver it. We are all human and make mistakes, it's how you fix them that matters. read more

The world has gone crazy. This is my neighborhood hardware store and I always try to go there before I go to the big box stores. Today I got a message that my key battery was low so I walked in there with my car key in my hand and while I was on line I had trouble opening the battery compartment. I got to the register and said I needed a battery but I wasn't sure what number because I couldn't open the battery compartment. The cashier told me that if she had to touch my key it would be a $10 service charge in addition to the cost of the batteries! I thought she was joking but she was not. If I want to be treated like that I can go to Home Depot or Lowe's! read more

I've been a customer of Beach Hardware for decades. Ed has been rock solid in terms of patience and helpfulness and worked hard to establish fine customer relationships based on outstanding service. Yesterday's visit told me that a few employees need to have their customer service skills tweaked or find work else where. The front end cashier was polite and helpful. The gentleman in plumbing on the upper level could not have been more helpful. Beach Hardware, as you strive top provide excellent customer service, it would be in your best interest to mentor one or two of the cranky guys. It left a foul taste in my mouth. Beach Hardware gets 5 stars from me because it's my go-to place. One cranky old man will not keep me away. I am also old and white haired but not cranky! read more

This "Ace" is NOT the place with any helpful hardware folks. Highly recommend that you spend your money elsewhere. Refused to take back an item that was purchased at another Ace because that's their "[unwritten and undisclosed] policy". And, because they're "all independently owned". Very deceptive to the consumer. Save your money and time and head to Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

I'm a regular customer of Beach Ace Hardware, or I should say that I "was" a regular customer. Even without checking in each time I was there, I have some 34 mobile check-ins and had previously spent some rather significant dollars at their place. My problem is that of late they seem to be getting a little abrupt and snooty with a seemingly "you can go take a flying leap" attitude that they've never had before. It looks like some of the easier going old timers who were there or in charge of things aren't anymore. Most recently a I lost a car key, went to them to see if they could make one but they didn't have the blank to cut, so I told them that I would go get a blank. I got the blank and when I returned they refused to cut the key telling me in no uncertain terms they would only cut a key if I purchased the blank from them, even though they didn't have a blank in stock to sell or cut. To make a long story short, I went elsewhere, was treated nicely, got my blank key cut and as a result, since everyone at the "elsewhere" location was rather nice about the situation, I will most likely be taking my future business to the "elsewhere" store. Though I still think Beach Ace Hardware is OK, they've soured me from continuing to be a fan or customer of their store, particularly since I've now found better. read more

I decided to go to this store rather than a big store like Home Deport hoping I would be supporting a smaller type business and they would be glad I was there as a customer. The moment I walked in, I was not even greeted. I was told by the cashier I was "wearing the wrong mask"!!! So now there is a specific type of mask we must wear? I had a face covering, which is the best I am willing to do in order to show respect for others, while having respect for myself. The cashier called the manager and he let me in. I bought what I needed and won't ever go back. It was my first and last time there. Unfortunately businesses like these won't survive through this agonizing ordeal for their own doing. read more

Where do I start? The store is disorganized and confusing. I found numerous items with two different price tags on them. The manager insisted that I pay the higher-priced one. Ed was nasty and condescending. He is abusive toward his staff, especially the little old lady at the register. He refused to accept the return of an unused gardening tool I had bought, even though I had the receipt. Really? Lose a customer over $7.95? Save your money. Shop at Home Depot down the road. We just moved down the street, so I though we would give Beach Ace Hardware a try because we need lots of stuff for the house. I was given bad information by one of the employees about an ace product and when I went to return it, they refused. This Ace does not accept returns!? Not only did they refuse to return the item just purchased, but they had a very very bad attitude about it. We are very disappointed in Ace. This particular Ace has some serious problems.
