Replacement Window Screens. I just wanted to give a shout out to Ace Hardware on Channel Islands Boulevard in Port hueneme. This store and their employees are awesome. I just had Kameron, the owner's son, come to my house, remove my old corroded, Window Screens and brought back my brand new ones and installed them! It was great service and so reasonably priced. I love this smaller local home improvement/hardware store! It' has a real mom and pop shop feel and supporting our local businesses is important to me! I also appreciate the simplicity of shopping here! It's not overwhelming like some of the other options... My husband and I always head over here for bbq needs! Not just charcoal, wood chips and other various tools but they also have a great selection of rubs/seasonings! Sometimes we get a little distracted by their awesome selection of plants/flowers too and can't resist stocking up on more goodies for the yard! The staff here are always so helpful and friendly! I bought some hardware , and noticed the return policy on the wall behind the cashier said you needed your receipt to return an item for a refund . so , I got my receipt and went back to the store for my refund . the owner denied my refund because it was over 30 days . i told him that's not what your policy says . nor did the cashier inform me of the 30 days. he said it was at the very bottom of the receipt in micro print . I told him no one reads the small print including you . I will not be doing business with that store anymore . I don't go often , but my purchases are approx $300 when I do make purchases . This is one of the few places that you can buy individual screws. You just need to take a photo of the box, part number, price of the screw you got. Staff is pretty friendly. You need to take your cart back to the store btw. Or sometimes an employee will come out and get it from you. I think the homeless might steal them. You can get your keys cut here too. read more

I wouldn't recommend making a trip here specifically for Pokémon cards. I called ahead and was told they had Japanese Pokémon packs in stock. However, when I arrived about 15 minutes later, I was told they didn't have any and that they would be getting more in 2-3 weeks. The conflicting information was extremely frustrating, especially after confirming availability before driving over. It left me feeling like I wasn't being given an honest answer. Based on my past experiences at other Ace Hardware locations, it seems like some stores may reserve Pokémon products for certain customers rather than making them available to everyone. While I can't say for certain that's what happened here, the inconsistent responses certainly gave that impression. What concerns me most is that this experience has made me question the reliability of the information provided by store employees in general. If I can't trust the accuracy of something as simple as a stock inquiry, I would be cautious about relying on employee guidance regarding hardware, tools, or other products where accurate information is much more important. It's disappointing because the employee who answered the phone was helpful, but the experience in the store was completely different. If a store is authorized to sell Pokémon products at MSRP, customers should be able to expect accurate information, honest communication, and fair access to inventory. read more

The associates are rude, specifically one lady, I didn't catch her name, but she had gray hair and tattoos on her forearm. I went in to return an online order that I ended up not needing after all. The employee was frustrated that she had to grab my order and then I needed to return it. As I was being helped by a manager, the original associate who got my order, went over to the cashier and talked about me loud enough for me to overhear. She thought it was "dumb" to place an online order pick up to just end up returning it. And how she was bothered by the fact she had to go get the order in the first place. I'd rather drive a farther distance to a different location than to come here again. read more

So I went to Ace Hardware this morning to get one small O-ring for my shower faucet that was dripping slightly, I've rebuilt and repaired these and many other faucets and hose bibs, and everything else through the years, there was a guy in there with an accent asked me if I needed help and I said yeah I just need an O-ring for this shower valve I showed him the O-ring. He said well we don't have those anymore. You have to buy the whole entire kit? He says that's old school just buying an O-ring. We don't sell those anymore. You have to buy the entire kit to rebuild the valve said I don't need to rebuild the valve and I've bought these O-rings many times through the years and he absolutely adamantly said they don't carry just O-rings anymore and he handed me the rebuild kit. I needed two of them one for the cold one for the hot! I looked down the aisle and there were the O-rings individual in plastic bags. The ones I needed so this guy just tried to sell me 10 times more expensive things that I didn't need and lied to me actually telling me they don't carry that stuff anymore. I was very upset and annoyed. I've always used Ace Hardware as my go to place but when I get people bullshitting me now telling me they don't have the parts and I have to buy the entire rebuild kit for just one little O-ring was just wrong. If I was his boss, I would fire him. I've been a long time customer and I should've complained to the upper management anyways be wary most of the people in there are very knowledgeable and accommodating. Update on my 2020 review: Nothing has changed except it is even worse. Customer service by managers is terrible, they still point and tell you what aisle, too busy to walk you to the item. "Thank you" isn't in the vocabularly of the cashier who also has an attitude. After yesterday's visit which was a "gotta have it now" trip, I will drive the extra three miles to Lowes. How this place stays open is beyond me. Here's my 2020 review: They are convenient. If you need to match a screw, bolt, or nut, this is the place. Overall, they don't have the "mom and pop" vibe a small neigborhood merchant should. Ask where something is when several employees are standing around talking, you get an "over there..." with the finger point. No walking you to the item since they know the store. Aisle 8 has a lot of stuff in it; where on asile 8, or 9 or wherever you pointed? Just walk the customer to the item. Nordstrom isn't too big to do that. You're too small to NOT offer that type service. Other comments here about the cashier being snooty - agreed. It's the personal service and friendliness that keeps small business alive. They don't exactly make you feel welcome to be there. The owner is bothered with every question, as if he's too busy for this. read more

My boys ages 20 and 14 both go to Ace here in Port Hueneme quite often, today September 6,2026 they both went in and were approached constantly by Mike even after they told him they didn't need help, Mike then approached my oldest only to tell him he "looks like your up to no good" and my son asked him what he meant by that. He then told my son he needed to leave the store and my son asked why he needed to leave and was told by Mike that he looked like he was about to steal the door knob he had in his hand and snatched it away from his hands, and was told to just leave. Other that racially profiling I don't see any other explanation for the way my boys were treated. My boys are very upset by this incident. We did call to speak to the manager and were told he would fix it, but after reading many reviews it seems like manager is just as rude as his employees. Sam has to be the rudest person in that building. Top it of lewis or Lois said she refunded my card but come to find out she charged me Instead of a refund. Went in today my assumptions were correct they refunded the product, but gave the refund to a different customer and billed me for the difference of the refund and what that person bought without me and the other customer signed it. This means that ace as a company can hold your credit card information and use it without you there. I purchased 2 packages of 60w bulbs for a new chandelier. One of the 4 didn't work and rattled. I asked my assistant Lopez to exchange it. The woman at the counter says it was a used bulb. She said no it's new and showed her the receipt. The woman would not exchange it. I was in the neighborhood and came by with the packaging. She says it was a used bulb (we don't have any bulbs in the house either the candle base so that's impossible) she hit the manager and he said that it looks used and no other bulbs in the entire store look like that. Do I said you're calling me a liar? I never said that he says and why are you upset about it. Hmmm not sure how else to characterize the exchange when the manager and clerk say I brought in a used bulb and I'm insisting this is the bulb that I just bought and took out of the package. So here's the button line. They were willing to infer that I was trying to scam them for a couple of dollar light bulb and lose my business. Imagine if you buy something of high value and the manager decides it is 'old' and doesn't look like the other products in his store? Small business can't afford to treat customers like this - there are plenty of criminals out there, you probably shouldn't infer your locals who manage 25 vacation homes that always need stuff you sell, are trying to scam you out of $3.00. I've been to this Ace Hardware a handful of times with my husband to look for various parts. The store is easy to find, there's plenty of parking nearby, and while it's not the biggest store- it's laid out really well and bright and pretty clean inside. On this particular visit we did not find what we were looking for, however the man that was working there knew exactly what we wanted (an old part that isn't so common anymore) & he spent a lot of time trying to help us find it, and then he went and looked it up on the computer. Unfortunately it wasn't something he could order, but he let us know we could order it online and have it shipped to the store. He also asked the manager for help and the manager gave him good information as well. I would definitely recommend this store! read more

The Paint department staff is a bit short and rude. Not extremely helpful at all. Also, I had a key duplicated there once by an older gentleman who I believe is the locksmith and it worked. I went back to get a different key duplicated recently. I was assisted by the young man from the paint department who should probably stay in the paint department . After my THIRD visit because the key didn't work, he said there was nothing wrong with the key and he didn't know what to tell me. There is obviously something wrong if the key would not open the door. He said I could speak with someone else. I told him HE had wasted enough of my time. The woman on the register,who has been there for quite sometime,is very friendly and helpful as are the gentlemen in the pipes and garden. This is a smaller local hardware store. They obviously don't have the inventory of a Home Depot or Lowes, but I've found the service to be much better. I particular like the key service counter there. They not only make all kinds of keys on the spot, but they also make car keys and remotes, as well as remotes for garage door openers. I went to order new window screens 2 to be exact and I had two different size screens needed. I was helped my one of the store managers named Soloman. I gave him the dimensions but didn't have the thickness of the frame needed, so i asked if i could see some examples of the frames used? (Considering they make them there) he stated that they did not have any samples to show me BUT shown me 1 size that they have for sale as a do-it-yourself kit. I said sure that will work. He then raised his voice and said "IF THE SIZE ISN'T CORRECT ITS NOT GOING TO FIT IN THE CHANNEL" I stepped back and ask what with the attitude? Here i am bringing my business to your store and you're giving me an attitude i said i still have the old frame. But maybe i should just take my business elsewhere... he said that's my choice. I was just there to purchase a cooler and I got to the checkout register and the cashier scanned a price of $71.00. The price on the shelf was clearly marked at $59.00. When my wife went to verify the price a person at the next register I presumed was the owner or manager said "the price in the computer is the price it is". He then preceded to go on a rant saying he was short handed and said if I could find anybody to come work there to help change the prices on the shelf. His tone of voice was rude and I decided I did not want to give him my business. Yes I went to them to have my car key cut, and they looked like they had no idea of what I was asking. Thing is on there door they say we cut keys and there is a picture of the same key I had in my hand. The guy that cuts the keys was saying well I don't know if I can guarantee that they key will work. And they wanted to charge me $10 with no guarantee that it would work.
