A hidden gem for fair pricing, patient service, and knowledgeable key cutting! After searching around Ventura County for someone I could trust, I visited Franklin's Ace Hardware at 7838 Telegraph Road in Ventura to have two customer-supplied aftermarket key blanks cut for my 2011 Toyota RAV4 Sport V6. Jerry and another helpful gentleman were honest from the beginning that outside blanks can sometimes be difficult to duplicate and that a perfect result could not be guaranteed. I appreciated their transparency. Rather than immediately cutting both keys, we carefully experimented with the first blank and tested it. Once we confirmed that it worked, I decided to have the second one cut as an additional emergency backup. The second key needed some extra adjustment, but Jerry remained patient and worked on it until it functioned properly. He was kind, careful, knowledgeable, and never made me feel rushed. Both employees provided the type of sincere, hands-on customer service that can be difficult to find. My particular key-cutting service was only $7.99. Franklin's has different pricing tiers depending on the key and the work involved, so not every key will necessarily cost the same. However, their pricing was extremely reasonable compared with the $70-$75 quotes I received from other mobile and storefront key duplicators merely to cut a blank that I already owned. I understand that programmed transponder keys, remotes, and specialized automotive services can cost significantly more. For someone who needs a basic mechanical backup key for emergency access, however, Franklin's Ace provided an honest, sensible, and affordable solution. A spare key may seem like a small thing until someone is locked out of a vehicle. I am very grateful to Jerry and his colleague for taking my concerns seriously and helping me leave with two useful backup keys. I highly recommend this Franklin's Ace Hardware location to customers in Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, and the Naval Base Ventura County area who are looking for friendly, knowledgeable, and fairly priced key-cutting assistance. I just can't say enough about this place, I continually come back to make a review and see that I just did one ‍ Reason being is, every time, and I MEAN, 100% of the time problems arise, at my house, I am quick to tell my husband "let's go to Ace Hardware first!!!" he's always wanting to go to straight to Lowe's or Home Depot, claiming there's no way Ace Hardware has "this piece". I always say, "let's go to first and rule them out, [as if that's the case, but it never is, as they always have what we need], & if they don't have it, we can go to the bigger places, but Ace NEVER DISAPPOINTS‼ I say that with great certainty. One time it was a vacuum cleaner belt, (I mean, seriously, this was a longshot, but there it was), another, was a certain paint, this time it was a hot water hose for my washing machine and the Good Lord knows, a mom cannot go without her washing machine for long I mean, the list goes on and on. They even had a variety of lengths. My husband was quick to say, "I knew they wouldn't have the right length...", and THERE it was!!! We also had to get a fixture, for the hose and the employee would not let us leave without testing at first on his own products. The variety is unmatched. I cannot tell you how many times I've been able to just run next-door to my neighbor, Franklin's Ace Hardware, and get what I need. No travel needed. The prices are unbelievable, I always figure they're going to be a little bit more because it's a smaller business, but that is just NOT THE CASE. I am more pleased, every time I'm there. Lost on Thompson Blvd I found Franklins Ace Hardware, Needing nothing, I went in. To my surprise it has EVERYTHING!! I was in awe of how big this little store was! They even have a Garden section! Associate Nick was quick to greet me and show me what I'd missed, the frozen pies!! What!!?? The BBQ dry rubs and marinates!! This place has it all. The staff here was so attentive and friendly it made it easy to shop around. For a female it can be intimidating attempting going to a hardware store. At checkout Sydney helped me sign up for their rewards program, I will definitely be coming back. I'd rather come here than those big wherehouse hardware stores! I've have gone to ACE on many occasions, I literally live around the corner. I always support our local small business around town from the dry cleaners to pizza place around the shop. BUT this is the place where I have to think twice. EVERY TIME I stop by, and from the minute I step in I'm being: followed and judged like if I'm stealing something! The entire staff (especially the older ones), including the owner will stare at you while waiting in-line to pay for your items, trying to see if you're hiding something underneath the cart. There's times that it feels like their UNDRESSING you to see if your hiding something!!!! VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! One of my many visits I stop by to try and buy a gift for my wife! YETI mug, so I was looking around trying to decide on a color, and from the corner of my eye one of the staff members was peaking, PEAKING thru the isles to see what I was doing! I put the mug back and paid for my other items and left! Yet, they were still trying to "undress me" from their paint booth!! For now on I would rather take a drive to Lowe's or Home Depot, or any place but here!! I try give independent businesses my patronage, good will and trust. Franklin's Ace Hardware has lost mine. I walk four miles daily. I wear a backpack to carry my groceries home. Yesterday, after checking neighboring CVS's selection of phone charging cables, I stopped in Franklin's to see if they carry them-they do. While I was shopping, a clerk young enough to be my grandson requested that I leave my pack behind the front counter, or leave the store. I left the store. I returned after a few minutes to express my growing anger at being mistrusted. The cashier said that it was the owner's instructions to not allow packs in the store. I have gone to Ace on many occasions. I try to support our local small businesses and will go out of my way to shop here. After today I'm not sure if I will return. The cashier I had was NOT friendly at ALL. She rudely called me up and didn't say hi or how are you, she didn't even crack a smile. No eye contact, didn't ask if I had an Ace card, rolled her eyes at the customer next to me who was having issues with his card reading on the terminal no thank you at the end of my transaction. I understand that people have bad days but if you're working with the public at least say hi to your customer that's 2 feet in front of you. I looked at my receipt and the name on it is Andria. Terrible follow-through. I ordered a BBQ on-line on 13 Jun for my son's Father's Day. I asked for it to be assembled. I called Franklin's the next day to confirm the order was in the system. Called again on Wednesday to confirm delivery on Friday. I receive a call from XPO Logistics on Thursday to ask/confirm delivery on Friday. Yes - my daughter-in-law will be there to receive it. I then receive a call on Friday at 3:00 pm that she wasn't answering and that it would be delivered on Monday - too late to course correct. It arrived - UNASSEMBLED!!! Due to the arrival of a second baby, (mainly my wife and I decided to paint our third bedroom pink. The shade of pink that she chose was custom- there is no other pink quite like this one. So we heard about Franklin's expertise of custom-mixing color shades and the fact that they have so many different color variations , and decided to give them a shot. Mike and his team were nothing short of magnificent. Everyone at Franklin's were so patient dealing with us (especially my wife, given her patience is compromised by her 37th week of pregnancy). They gave us the exact color we were looking for from Benjamin Moore, blended it with other variations to arrive at the exact pink shade we wanted. We were truly blown away by how incredible Franklin's Hardware's staff (especially Mike) made something so dull as buying paint so great. Glad to find this place. It seems to be the only hardware store of its kind in this area. It is well stocked with friendly people running it. They even have an array of specialty root beer and soda pop in the front. There is a clearly posted sign in front of the store on their policy of checking backpacks at the front desk. This place has horrible service I had a car key made and they needed my car to program it since I had no working car key I was unable to drive to the store and all I asked was for them to come to me to program my car 1.2 miles away .... they wouldn't I begged and begged and they still wouldn't help me out at all ... I had to purchase aaa (75 bucks) to have my car towed 1.2 miles to get the key programmed .... very messed up in my eyes for sure... the owner named mike is just not a good person I will never do business there again that's for sure read more
