Got quote on Friday and had a gang of purple trucks at.my house by Tuesday. I thought I was going to remove about 750 yards of concrete with a rental breaker from home Depot and 3 days later I barely had half of it broken up. So then I call up these guy and they show up with two 40 yard roll off lowboys and two other equipment trucks and their purple mini bobcat with 5 guys and 4 hours later, nothing was left but dust and dirt leaving me very pleased. I recently purchased a home, and during the home inspection I had done prior to buying the property -- it was pointed out to me that the old gazebo structure in the backyard was structurally unsound. So, I decided that it had to go. Fast forward, I got the home & wanted that thing gone. After doing a bit of research online, I came across Ace and contacted them with a description of what I needed to be removed. I was given a quickly turned around estimate and had things scheduled just as fast. Once the two-man crew came in to do the removal, they were literally in and out in all of 40 minutes. They started at the roof of the structure (brave to get on top of it -- you could've probably literally pushed it over with very little effort) and worked their way down quickly -- cutting up the pieces with a chainsaw. And then they leveled things off at the surface so that a new one could be installed when I was ready. Pretty great work considering the time, and the price was agreeable! If I ever need something removed again, I plan to call Ace -- they're my junk removal and demolition service now. They've earned a loyal customer and I'd recommend them to anyone needing good work done on the removal with a reputation they can trust. read more

I was in need of some clean dirt to fill in my pool. There was a guy name Jose came to my house with a long big truck to dump the clean dirt. At the first dump, I got a excavator so I was able to push the dirt over to the pool size. He never told me about the second load. He called my around 2pm same day and asked if he can dump another load. I told him No because I dont have anything to push the dirt. He called his boss and we agreed that he would dump that second load on my yard and COME BACK with the bobcat to push the dirt into the pool. i called him at 3:45pm, he picked it up and started speaking Spanish. (He was speaking English with me the whole time he was dumping 2 loads of the dirt-40 cubic yard ) I called him again at 4, but he hung up on me. read more

The yard was difficult to access (down narrow stairs, no alley access). Pricing was sent out ahead of time based on how much of Ace's truck would likely be filled (and was the lowest of 4 quotes I got- not by a ton but very comparable to other companies I found), the workers showed up on time and worked quickly and respectfully around our property. They cleaned up a bunch of leaves and branches and left things a lot cleaner than they found them. They charged very fairly based on how much of the truck was filled in the end (which was hard for me to eyeball ahead of time and where they could probably charge a few extra bucks if they really wanted to). They came out last Tuesday to remove a bed, a desk, and a cabinet. I described the items over the phone to the dispatcher named Sue who quoted me a price of $130 that morning. I had gotten a lower estimate over the phone from another company but I just got a weird vibe from him so I went with Sue/Ace. She said they'd be here between 5 and 6pm and that they'd call when they were en route. They didn't call but I was home and expecting them so no biggie. They were 3 men and a big flatbed truck. The guy in charge looks at the pile of junk and says it'll be $30 more because this wouldn't fit in pickup truck. I told him that's not what I was quoted and he has a huge flatbed anyway. I told him, "Forget it. I'll call someone else." Then he said to hold on while he checked to see if it was okay. He made a call and then said she said it was okay. So they started moving the stuff which took all of 2 minutes if that. I was going to pay them with my credit but I thought, "Hell, no. These guys are shady." So I thought about paying them cash but then I thought, "Hell, no. These guys are shady." So I paid them with a check. We are changing our landscaping, removing the lawn (at least what used to be lawn) and are replacing with rock. We contacted Ace to bid on removing the top layer of dirt. We have a very small front yard. Ace was quick to bid, was reasonably priced and most important was prompt to show up for the job and complete it. They used a small tractor but since the lot is small, there was a lot of manual removal as well. The guys were professional and thorough. The current 2 star rating seems appropriate and fair because they don't make it past the bid stage. I can't attest to the quality of their hauling services because I can certainly testify to their incompetence at quoting for a job. Therefore, I can understand all the other customers who got a quote and ended up having to pay more without a heads up. The Job was to haul out a pile of broken cinder blocks and cement debris, and a small stack of wood. They did not come to take a look at the job to quote, instead they asked for photos by email. Fair enough, except that then they miss-assessed the job and quoted 4 times higher than any other hauling service company that made a bid for the same job. All bids came between $500-650. Ace hauling came at $2000. You be the judge. I know for a fact (for having it done before myself -now I'm too tired) that: Dumping fees (demolition debris) would have been $160 for 2 tons. The use of a flatbed truck would be $200. Labor for 2 men who ended up doing the job in 3 hours: that's 6 man hours. It would break down Ace Hauling labor to $275/hour!! An MD. doesn't earn that much. Even if I'd be missing on some fees here, in no way can this abusive quote ever be acceptable. They ignored my followup email asking them if they would revise their quote since the photos might have led them to think it's a bigger job than what it really was. Being ignored doesn't scream for a good service... And so, this is why I'm writing up this review and they are getting yet another bad rating. I asked for a quote via e-mail, stating that I lived in BayHo, and they bluntly replied, "We only service San Diego." That's it. No sorry, no recommendations for where to look instead, nothing. When I booked the service over the phone, they were able to come out sooner than I was ready! That was a nice change. We agreed on a date. They were prompt, and called 15 minutes before they arrived. They quickly removed the spa, loaded the truck, and were done is less than an hour. They even swept and cleaned up the area around the spa! Very courteous, professional, no weird vibes.
