Ace nails did an incredible job on my nails. They are very detail oriented. The team took time to make sure every nail is perfectly shaped and polished. On top of it, all of them are very nice and a delight to talk to. Ace salon have the top notch tools/equipment. May and the team invested in their craft and it really shows.

I asked for an almond shape, but unfortunately, my nails came out uneven and they don't resemble the shape I requested. Each nail looks different, and there are visible polish streaks. On top of that, the process was painful, and I was cut multiple times.

First time at this shop, came because of the cool nail art I saw on Yelp and wanted a fun design. After my manicure, I left the shop and didn't notice until I got home that the edges of the French tip were kind of rough, it didn't quite match the quality I saw in the photos. Next day I called and asked if I could come back to have them cleaned up and May was really kind about it and didn't just fix the edge she fully re-did the French tips and smoothed out the areas where the dip was bumpy. It came out really amazing, great place for fun designs! May is very sweet and genuinely wants customers to have a good experience. Price is fair/about the same I've paid in the past ($55 for dip), they prefer cash over card just as a headsup.

Never in my life have I had a worse manicure experience. The salon felt dirty and crowded. The staff was unfriendly, and most importantly did a terrible job picking at my cuticles, filing my nails all the way down with a very coarse file, and pouring on the polish. I asked for a single coat of polish, and they insisted on two coats. As you can see from the photos, the second coat was way too heavy, and did not evenly cover the surface, leaving big drip marks and causing them to chip off the next day. The hand massage used a combination of lotion and oil which felt slimy. Two days later, all nails looked like the last photo and I removed the remaining polish. Needless to say, I will not be back. Looks like there are plenty of positive reviews, so hopefully my experience was not the norm!

I went to this place three years ago I went with my dad and one of my school friends to get our nails done for my birthday I got my nails done and after they were done my fingers were bleeding so were my dads my friend had a small cut to.They were not easy on the nail it was roughly used.I went back today after 3 years once again I came out the place with three cuts on my finger.They we're not very open to conversation.He also poured alcohol on my cuts making them burn.

I wanted to like this place so badly. The reviews seemed fantastic. But here's the tea. I asked for tips with dip powder and after they glued all the tips on they asked what shape I wanted, I said long coffin. They said the woman who does that shape isn't in. Ok, honest mistake. I didn't ask prior. But here's where it all goes terribly wrong. They remove the tips, barely buff out my nails and try to send me on my not so merry way. Hold the phone, you're gonna let me out into the wild with rough, glue-y, misshapen, downright ugly nails? Uhm no. I asked politely for her to fix them and she did, begrudgingly and barely. I went home and filed the crap out of them for 15 minutes and I'm still picking leftover glue off my fingertips. Big oof

Look at this fun design that May made for me!

The service was amazing! I love going her as usual and look at the design that May gave me! It's so simple yet fun!! I can not wait to show this to all of my friends, it is such an October themed design!

My daughter and I recently visited Ace. It was not an experience I would pay to repeat. Right in the middle of my daughter's manicure, the manicurist stood up and without any communication went to take care of another customer who had just come in. About 10 minutes later a different manicurist finished my daughter's manicure. Thankfully my daughter preferred the second manicurist. I got a pedicure. Several times it was painful. Once I actually involuntarily jumped and said "ouch"! The technician looked up and smiled. Strange. Bottomline, I would not return to Ace. read more

Ace nail shop has become my Go-To mani pedi spot in Marin. They are so good at what they do and so kind. I love that May always gives me an extra special manicure and adds fun little designs to make it even better. I honestly cannot believe how long the manicures last. I usually have to come in to change it after 3 weeks because my nails are too long, but the gel is still going strong! Love this place, and so grateful to have a good spot in Marin! I never give 1 star reviews, but this is the exception sadly. I went to get dip nails which also included taking off the current ones. They soaked my nails in seemingly pure acetone and filed down my nails to the point where they filed into layers of my nails. My fingernails as a result were very thin and weak, and most importantly, they hurt and seemingly everything hurt them! Needless to say I told them to stop there and to not put on the new set. It's been a month and my nails are still growing out but the part of my nails that they filed down still hurts. This is a tale of caution for anyone who goes in! read more

My second trip to Ace and they were able to get me a last minute appointment for a gel mani and regular pedi both times. The salon has been consistently clean and the team that works there are very friendly, efficient, and good at their work! They helped me perfectly match my gel polish to the regular polish and even accommodated a nail design (I did the same cute lil flower both times) without an extra charge. Also note - they are located behind Urban Remedy and have their own parking lot which helps tremendously! read more

Best nail salon in Marin by far! They always do a beautiful job with my gel nails, and my nails look great for 2-3 weeks! I've also brought my daughters to get mini manicures. I usually do my own nails (from gel, dip to gel extensions) but always stop by Ace Nail when I am visiting family in Marin and want to treat myself. May's technique and attention to details are excellent. Nail art is always good. manicures last a very long time, they use good quality products. She's even given me many tips on how to do my own nails extension when I am away. They have the cutest colors as well! 100% recommend. read more

When the pandemic hit, I had to move back to Marin and look for a nail salon. I was beyond happy to discover Ace Nails. Since it opened in 2020, I have gone at least 8 times and loved every experience. The prices are very fair for Marin and May always takes such good care of my nails. It's sanitary, cozy, and has lots of parking out front. Plus, if you pay in cash, you get a discount! Please visit them in Mill Valley sometime for an awesome nail experience. read more

I was in town visiting my in-laws and needed an emergency gel mani (sure, that's a thing!) I researched every local nail shop from Sausalito to Petaluma, looking for NYC-level services. I am so happy I found May and Ace Nails. May and her team are so kind, caring and treated my nails like I was a hand model gearing up for a big shoot. I thought this salon would be better judging by reviews. It felt like a gruff and unfriendly atmosphere. She (assuming owner or manager) pointed to a chair and said sit. No one offered for me to choose a color. Usually salons have you choose first thing. Then after the soaking and cleaning, she actually yelled across the room for all to hear, "what color?" So rude and abrupt. I said I didn't see the color choices, so someone quickly handed me the sample sheets that I was hardly able to hold with one hand while my other hand was soaking. I got a regular mani/pedi. The technician cutting my toenails nipped me (not too bad, but I pulled my toe back quickly). They never asked me what shape I wanted my fingernails, which most places ask. They came out somewhat uneven.The polish is holding up well so far on the toenails. Fingernails, one started chipping then the corner of the nail snagged off. I have a better place in Mill Valley and will not return to Ace. read more

Ace is my favorite - seriously best manicures I've ever had! They get very busy because they are so good so I generally have to leave an hour and a half for the full gel manicure and pedicure treatment but it's worth it to me. They do tag-team different stages of nails at times, which seems to have bothered some of the reviewers here but I find that they run an efficient ship and it all makes sense. They were really nice and accommodating. But I asked for a dip nail manicure and knew that it was not going to turn out great when they brought out the gel manicure UV lights for dipped nails. The finished result is thick, bumpy, and waxy looking. They also charge $10 more than my regular place in the City. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. Revising my review after I received a message from the owner soon after this review, profusely apologizing. I have never had an owner take the time and care to apologize for a not so great service. Wow. One star because my mani/pedi was fine. The place is super ghetto though (they give you a key to an office park and then you have to walk through the office park and into Gravity Tavern to use the rest room). All fine though. I went in this afternoon with my 8 yo daughter and COMPLETELY GOT SCAMMED! She had a mani/pedi that took about 4 mins total. I had a gel main/regular pedi. It was enjoyable. I was done and then went to pay. I was told the total was $75. No prob, sounds good. Then I asked if that was for both of us. The head mistress said yes. Then there was some speaking in non-English and she said "no, it's $30 for you daughter so $105 total". Ok, fine, a bit high, but I'm all about paying folks for what they are worth. I hand over my credit card and I'm told they are cash only. I saw 3 people check out before me and they all paid via cc. I get asking for the tip in cash (which I had prepped for) to skirt the IRS, but don't tell me that you are cash only when you don't advertise as cash only. It gets better. I said I don't have $130 + to pay you in cash and tip you in cash. She asked me if I can go get cash. No, I wasn't about to do that. Then she asked if I was a Wells Fargo customer because I could go across the street. I told her I was happy to bring cash next time, but for today I would have to pay with my cc. She begrudgingly agreed and then rang up my card for $110. Um, I don't really care about $5, but you said the total was $105. Then she said there is a $5 charge for using my cc. Goodbye Aces. Karma is a bit$h and you will get what you deserve and we will definitely not be back. read more

I'm super disappointed. I paid 3 bucks for parking, I walk in today and was told she would not help me. Maybe make it appointment only if that's how you want to run your business... and be more professional in the future. The owner embarrassed me in front of everyone in the shop. Ask and you shall receive!!! May is AHMAZZZINGGGG!!! I give her a picture and she always makes it happen! I'm super particular about my nails (shape, length, design) and I've never been let down. My sets always look amazing, and last a long time! The environment is clean and peaceful, their tools are clean and sterilized. They are COVID safe. I can't say enough!! AMAZING! May is so sweet, I didn't get the name of the other person but I trust that anyone at this salon will do a good job. This is my first experience getting my nails done since COVID. The salon is very clean and do nails outside. They take your temp, used sanitation shields and hand sanitizer so I felt very safe. May did a wonderful job and took their time. I haven't gotten my nails done in a LONG time and they were in BAD shape before but she was very patient and totally fixed my nails! I'm coming back for sure! read more

Nail Motif is the complete opposite. I don't know what magic they use, but my natural polish manicures last a solid week -- sometimes even longer! The quality is unmatched. They were extremely nice but overall the manicure was terrible and pedicure was not good. It all felt rushed - they were late for my apt, but continued to take walk-ins and therefore my apt was rushed and the work showed. I had to ask for my nails to be redone and they were still so bad, I had to redo them myself after I left. Terrible cuticle work, poorly filed nails, polish didn't cover the nails and fuzz was on them, unevenness in length and polish. The pedicure was fine but also had uneven toenails and there was little attention to my heels/feet, so overall felt like a half pedicure. It looks like they do amazing design work, but for a regular mani/pedi this was a flop.

I told her she didn't have to rush but she skipped removing all of my old polish (which showed through the new), only did one coat and didn't do any cleanup of overpaints all while reminding me multiple times that the price was still $40 as if I was going to stiff her on her tip. I had been a longtime client and always tipped 20% even while skipping the massage. When paying I asked the owner why only one coat and she said because I said I was meeting someone. The nail tech said - you want a second coat? Sit. She rushed through it with no cleanup a 2nd time. There are better places out there. I am currently enjoying a mani pedi a new salon.

To make things even faster they'll use the dremmel to sand down the nail and remove any residual polish. This results in thinner, weaker, exposed nails over time. So when that chemical remover is painted on- wow! It hurts. It's cold and painful, and by the time you realize it- too late. I'm growing out my nails and letting them replenish themselves before I go back- which could take months. Why go back at all? Convenience, really. I'll likely ask them to lay off the chemical remover and wrap them instead. As far as polish colors go, they seem to have a lot, but they use a ton of DND. I prefer the longevity of OPI, but they do have some of this as well. They keep your info in their system but don't track your colors- note that detail yourself. I don't know if it's a gel thing, but it bothers me how rough they file my nails. It's never done with a fine grain along the edges. Inevitably I'll start snagging things with the edge of my fingernails and need to file them myself. Would I recommend this place? Yes, for ambiance and time alone. The cost is average to high if you go beyond the basic manicures, but this is Marin. I get better quality for the same, or less, in the city- so I may just start going back there until my nails are healthy again.

This is the second Yelp review I have ever written and I want to express the exceptional experience I had at Ace Nails today in Mill Valley on Miller. I am a middle aged male who brings my elderly mother in once a month for a mani/pedi. Instead of killing time and coming to pick her up in an hour, I just received the most relaxing, detail oriented manicure and pedicure one could imagine. We enjoyed wonderful conversation and many laughs. I could go on but I refuse to be one of those Yelpers. I simply want to express my gratitude to Ace Nails. I would like to mention my manicurist, May. She does absolutely impeccable work. My nails have never looked so healthy and so beautiful. She is so kind, thoughtful, always punctual and a total sweetheart. I highly recommend this salon and her in particular!!!! She is amazing and very knowledgeable. Also to mention I had had hand surgery in January which affected my index finger/nail and she took extremely good care of me and was very gentle. I've seen great reviews for this salon and have lived in this area for much of my life, of course, I had to check it out. Fairly disappointed - some of the nail techs were rude and the manager, I'm assuming, did my acrylic fill. She did a decent job, never chipped and lasted as I travelled, but had some patchy work on two nails. Also took a long time because the manager was doing schedule work and answering the phones - expected for her position, of course, but still important to note. read more

I am so happy I found Ace nails! They are so friendly and do such good paint job. I get gel manicures and they look Freshly manicured for at least 3 weeks. I'm always getting compliments. They have a large selection of both fun and natural colors so I always have options! They have outdoor and indoor availability. I'm comfortable being inside. I actually did the dip powder and she took so much time shaping my nails so my hands looked more feminine.......(I have large hands)!
