Cali Chic Beauty Spa is worth every second! I've been coming to this spot for months and now a regular. I had Anna, the owner, and Mai, her daughter, help fix and beautify my nails. I asked them to take off my current acrylic nails and change them to normal gel. Mai recommended me cat eye. The glisten and shine perfectly. I am so happy with how they turned out! I have been getting my nails done at Cali Chic in Mill Valley for over 10 years. I don't make an appointment with anyone special--everyone has given me a perfect manicure and pedicure. On at least three occasions, I have broken a nail and they quickly repaired it for me with no appointment needed. I also get my hair cut and styled there too. read more

Rachel did a beautiful job on my nails for my engagement. I found Cali Chic on the app and they had availability a week before Valentines Day. Their quality and prices are great. My gel manicure was only $35! Rachel suggested the pale pink color since I was having a hard time deciding between a few colors. I am very happy with the results and my nails still look great! I would highly recommend coming here. I want to get a pedicure next time. They also have a hair salon in the back of the shop. The parking out front is only limited to 10 minutes but there's plenty of parking behind the building. read more

The ladies at Cali Chic were very sweet and trying to get it right. My pedicure was pretty good, but no luck with the manicure. I called ahead to make an appointment and asked if they did dip manicures, to which they said yes. It was clear they weren't experienced on dip... I had 4 different people work on the manicure, with gaps of time just waiting. I appreciated how they shaped and cleaned up the cuticles. I got this manicure for a wedding today. After I left to get ready, within 20 mins the first dip popped off. By the end of the wedding, only one was still on. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I get dip all the time and this has never happened. I will be returning tomorrow to ask for a refund. Super disappointed... I do greatly appreciate how they handled this snafu. Things happened but the owner was so kind and I got a full refund. Thank you!! read more

Great nail salon tucked away on on Highway one in Tam Junction. Lots of easy parking behind the salon. I received a great spa mani pedi and was very happy with the paint job and cuticle clean up. The massage chair was a welcome pleasure after a long and stressful work week. Everyone who works there is friendly and professional. I came here based on yelp reviews and was disappointed. I pointed out an injury and asked them to avoid it and they didn't listen. Eventually I had to say seriously l, stop digging around that nail, it's ok, I don't mind if I have cuticle skin there it's hurt, your opening the skin, stop. And they still kept going. They took 1 hour to remove my gel and file my nails. Then they switched technicians and the second hurried the paint job. I left with paint on my fingers, bubbles and brush marks in the gel and the paint job is uneven. Never again. read more

I discovered this salon upon recently moving to the area. I was also about to get married--so I was delighted to find Rachel at Cali Chic, who ended up doing an amazing job on my dip powder manicure for my wedding weekend. In the months leading up to the big day, I came to see her several times to try out different dip colors and nail shapes. I wanted a very neutral color that would be the perfect light pink/white shade. I was impressed by Rachel's skill and attention to detail. Amazing spot to get your nails done. It's quick, the ladies are all so great, and they do a really good job on color + cuticle care. Finally found my spot in marin! Also, for nail design (and really anything) Rachel is UNPARALLELED. Sounds dramatic but she really is amazing. My nails always end up beautiful, and they also last forever. Service at times was painful when the materials got too hot. They did absolutely nothing to my cuticles, and barely took off the dip I had in prior so the nails were streaky. She also pained with some of the glue stuff for dip on my and around my nails so I had a bunch of hard glue and powder all over my nails. she as in an incredibly rush and did not provide a massage and ended up just rubbing cuticle oil all over my hands in arms using gloves that were still dusted from the powder work. read more

A few things that made me write this review. First off, they don't tell you they change 5$ extra if you need to take off any gel. Don't mind paying but don't be sneaky. Idk who did my manicure but she took an hour and twenty minutes and she hurt me pretty bad as if she didn't know what she was doing by cutting my skin twice to where it hurt even the next day. read more

I am embarrassed that I have not yet written a review as much as I adore this place and the hardworking women there. I always love my pedicures and manicures, the quality and how long they last but the real treat is the massages! The arm, shoulder and feet massages that take place during a regular ole mani/pedi and superb! The hot stones are luxurious! They always offer hot green tea or ginger and honey if you like. And mani/pedi will run you $40 and so worth it! BIG fan, clearly :) read more

Great place right by my house and this is my first time here! I think people miss it/don't notice it as much as the other nearby nail salons because the signage isn't super eye-catching. I just happened to drive by and look over to see the parking lot in front of it was empty, so I pulled in. The main reason why I get a pedicure is really for the foot massage. This is the first place Ive been to in a while where I got a great foot massage! That's literally the most important thing for me - but my toenails look beautiful too :). I stopped in here a few days ago to get a quick mani-pedi when my regular salon was full. My mani-pedi cost $40 and so far, the polish has held up. I was in and out in about an hour, and the manicurist did a decent job of shaping, trimming, and painting my nails. The salon appeared to be clean, though there was a strong chemical smell in the are due to the polish and possibly someone's gel manicure being done. The only reason I'm not giving this 4 stars is because for the same price, right around the corner, you can also get a mani-pedi that has an 8-minute massage for both your arms and your legs, so I think that they are charging a premium price for a service that's basic. I've been to many salons in the bay area and the $40 price point usually includes a paraffin dip and/or extended massage. With that said, I would come back if my regular place is full again or if I need to get in and out of in an hour -- they were efficiently quick. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I saw its new and recently opened their doors just a couple months ago, and I like to check out new places in the neighborhood. Atmosphere- very nice! It's a beautiful little shop, & very clean. Everything is brand new, I like that fresh feeling :-) Attitude - the ladies working there were very attentive Actually, almost too attentive. They were very sweet & eager to please. I can totally see how some people really enjoy that extra catering, but I really just like my mani/pedi time to close my eyes, or read my book. It's one of the very rare "me" times I have in the month and I prefer to disengage from the world (lol) I found that difficult to do here. ... Some people may prefer the opposite. Service - I hate to say this bc they were so friendly and being new in town can be hard to drum up business but this was one of the worst manicures I've ever received. I got an acrylic fill with gel polish. My nails came out different lengths, lumpy, and the polish was applied very streaky. It was not a professional looking job at all. I had to do them over 2 days later somewhere else bc it was bothering me so much. I also asked to have them cut shorter, maybe she didn't hear me, or maybe she didn't understand? Or maybe she didn't want to add more time on to what turned into a 2.5 hr visit. 2.5 hours is way too long. I was the only person in the shop the entire time. I don't know what took that long. My pedicure was good. I will go back for pedicures in the future, but not a fill. The pedicure took about 40 minutes which was great, and my feet & nails were very nice! Location- they're conveniently located in a little shopping strip, very close to the 101 Ramps. Parking was a breeze, there's a lot that was mostly empty with free parking. Prices - very average pricing. I don't remember exactly what it cost, so I know it wasn't anything too low or too high. I want to day around $60 for everything. This place is worth checking out! However, be careful if you need a fill or like gel polish. read more

When clearly told by the staffer that Dr. Jamali does, in fact , perform that particular filler in the immediate mouth region, I actually questioned her (since I know that doctors differ in this regard, and requested her to directly ask Dr. Jamali to confirm that she does that type on injection. The staffer exited to ask Dr. Jamali, and I was assured that she definitely does. On that basis I went for the appointment, was quickly ushered into a treatment room and told to pay a $100 consultation fee (which I did pay, since I had been assured of the treatment). Dr. Jamali then entered the room and forcefully stated "Oh no -- I NEVER do injections with this filler in the mouth region" - so, precisely the opposite! of my assurance. Dr. Jamali then proceeded to 'explain to me' that I needed a different procedure, which happened to be far more expensive. Clearly, this FALSE 'reassurance' was intended to simply LURE me into the office. A truly UNFAIR business practice, if not directly DISHONEST.

The kicker was when I told the stylist she should have rescheduled me if she was going to be so late, and her response was that she didn't want to lose another customer that day. Welp, she definitely lost me as a customer, because I'd never go back to her. The cut was okay but overall a mind boggling experience and a waste of my time. The other experience I had was getting a facial from an aesthetician. I specifically let her know I didn't want any animal tested or animal products on my skin. And yet, she slapped collagen on my face (and it wasn't marine collagen). She also didn't do any arm or neck massage, which is odd because with all the facials I've had at other places, I've always had a light massage while a mask is on my face. When I asked about the massage, the aesthetician said she leaves the room while my mask is on vs doing a massage. Additionally, she kept using the term "anti-aging", despite me sharing that I'm not against what natural process happens to us all, and I don't like language that makes us hate a natural process. I think (especially in a spa or salon setting) there are far more positive terms we can use to describe caring for our skin. Rejuvenating, refreshing, aging with grace, naturally enhancing...sounds far more from a place of love and acceptance for ourselves than "anti-aging". From both of these less than par experiences, my take away was that I was in a low caliber salon, and not a specialized, leveled up establishment. It's been a year and I haven't returned, nor would I recommend this place to others.

I came to Cali Chic Beauty Spa to get a hair cut, color and high light. Katie was so amazing. She did an excellent job with my hair and she was very nice and friendly. I was so happy with her so I asked her to do my manicure, pedicure, and eye lash extensions. She did such a beautiful job with some special drawing for my nails. My eye lash extensions look so real and gorgeous. They make my eye look so big and beautiful. I've had so many nice comments from my friends. I also got my eye brows and upper lip waxing done that same day. I am so happy I've found a beauty salon/spa that I can have all beauty services done in one appointment. This place is nice and clean. This is my favorite nail salon -- not just in Marin or the Bay Area, but anywhere! My mani/pedis are always exactly what I ask for -- and the polish lasts for weeks and weeks. The entire team could not be more welcoming or accommodating, skilled at what they do, create a great atmosphere, and prices are super fair. Rachel just did this chrome manicure for me today -- and I've already gotten so many compliments. She is incredibly talented! This place has been a Tam Valley secret for quite some time but Kim and her staff deserve the praise. I've been going here to get spoiled and pampered for years. Can spend 1/2 a day getting a mani/pedi, waxing, hair trim/cut, sitting in one of their great massage chairs or getting a massage. I always leave feeling rejuvenated and cared for. The service is very attentive and personal and you can customize most treatments - they make it fun. I recently injured my foot and ankle and Kim gives the best foot massages for lymphatic drainage and I swear she is healing me. Enjoy! read more

They have two employees: one who is sweet, and one who is skilled but routinely in a sour mood, physically rough with my hands and feet, and can make coming an uncomfortable experience. Pulling and turning my feet if they don't bend to her will, rolling her eyes in annoyance if I'm not in the correct position, once she stopped my service and stared angrily, but didn't offer verbal instructions. It wasn't clear if she needed me to take my feet out of the water? Put them somewhere? What was clear was that she was furious with me, but I was confused as to why. In Yelping I noticed others with similar experiences. The owner is no longer at the shop, and after one too many of these uncomfortable visits, I decided to stop. One angry technician generally doesn't undermine a business, but with just two technicians on hand, it can be hard to avoid a negative experience.
