My state's liquor stores were shut down, then the online ordering was overwhelmed and dysfunctional, and now you have to call your local store early in the day and hope they answer. Constant busy signals there. So I tried to order from various online places w/o success until I got to Ace. Easy to order online and huge selection. I ordered 4 bottles of scotch, including ones I can't get at home. Then I saw the nasty reviews and thought uh oh. But in spite of being a small store in the midwest, and at the beginning of a global pandemic, I got my order within 3 weeks with everything there and well-packaged. Guess what? They're my go to place for liquor from now on. Good job Ace!!! read more

I would prefer to give them a zero but I can't. I placed an order April 18 and was told it could take 10 days to ship and 5 more to get from MN to northern VA. I was fine with that but when May 5 rolled around and I had no tracking number I tried calling them. I attempted to call Several times ever day all the way up until May 9th to no avail. When I checked their website in the 9th their online statement said my order was going to be shipped that day, on May 14th I FINALLY got an email returned stating "my tracking order had been updated". That's all it said. Now please understand I didn't have a complicated order. 4 quarts of Burnett's Gin and 1/2 gallon of Elijah Woods Bourbon. Nothing fancy. My credit card was charged April 18th and now it's May 14th and it shipped May 14th NOT the 9th as their website stated. I tried calling again but after waiting on hold for 50 rings a Voice came on saying this number was not monitored and to try again. Same thing I got all the times before. I'm sorry people but if ran my business like this I would not be in business. It is obvious they need to hire more people, take courses in customer service and get their act together so people feel their liquor order matters to Ace Spirits and is appreciated. My package arrived May 18th and the entire bottom of the box was saturated in a destroyed bottle of bourbon and gin. The FEDEX guy ran off and I caught him on his way back from turning around at the cul de sac at the end of my street. He got out of the truck and saw the package (which I smelled as soon as I opened my front door). The saturation went up 4" on the side of the box! He said he didn't see that and said it was a result of "inferior packaging on the part of Ace Spirits". I told him I was not accepting the order and to return it. He took the box. I came in immediately and wrote an email to orders@acespirits.com. I tried their "chat" function and their phone at least 30 times trying to get someone's attention. NOT ONE ATTEMPT TO EMAIL OR PHONE ME HAS BEEN MADE DESPITE MY NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS!!!. Do NOT order from these people. They are horrid. I order a lot online and have NEVER experienced this kind of service. I order cases of wine and they are always packed in styrofoam molded containers. Not ONCE has anything ever broken. There are plenty of other sites you can order from so to save your stress levels and sanity, use those places and NOT ACE SPIRITS!!!! read more

The staff here knows their stuff! First couple visits I picked up a bottle of my favorite Irish, Redbreast. Seems like they always have tasting going on and I've been turned on to some other excellent bourbons and craft beers. My go to spot for a great bottle of booze. Understand you are going to pay more than at a big box, but the selection, knowledgable staffand supporting a local business are worth it in my opinion. read more

This store is phenomenal! I was blown away by the overwhelming selection of whiskeys in this store. Then there is the beer selection, so many options and all available by the bottle. And despite having a fairly small cooler, they carry a well planned variety of craft beers both locally and from around the country. Customer experience at this retailer is bar-none the best in-store experience I have a had at a liquor store. From tastings to suggestions, the staff here has yet to steer me in a direction that I wasn't happy with. I had been looking for a product that we had in Vegas back in March. Couldn't find it anywhere in IN, IL, or Wisconsin. Ace Spirits reassured me that they could order the product and deliver it to my uncle in Wisconsin in about 14 days. Here's the deal, this shop is as legit as they come. If you are lucky and local, seek this place out. if you are on the internet, same. Great pricing and visible inventory. Louis and his team are knowledgeable and have never been condescending or intimidating; they happily let you taste the spirits and help you understand what you are getting into. Ace has been described as a liquor library of sorts, and it's true. The selection and the prices are phenomenal, and you are as likely to get educated as you are to get a laugh, whether by staff or by Louis's emails. The shopping experience is as compelling as it gets. Louis's curated private selections are solid as well, and picked by a shop that gives a damn about taste and value. Worth the drive for sure. When I go to their "order status" page I get nothing but an acknowledgement of the order. Have sent numerous e-mails asking status and phoned at least ten times! Telephone results are always the same...an answering machine that says they are a small store and can't come to the phone, please leave a message. Leaving a message doesn't get results either. Absolutely love this store. It's convenient - dangerously convenient - for me. Their selection in whisky is unmatched in the state, and their prices, while not always the lowest on every single item, are definitely competitive. Even more, it's a local business with clear love of their product and it's industry. Their staff are pretty knowledgeable and often pretty awesome to chat with about what you're looking for. They hold pretty regular tastings that are always worth it. Their website is functional, updated, and they keep active on various social media. Received their e-mail advertising a special price on Bullett cask strength bourbon. No indication whatsoever regarding restricted quantities. Responded immediately with my on-line order. Order confirmed by Ace and credit card authorization processed. Late the next day received an e-mail telling me that due to in-store demand item was no longer available. While this may be a five star liquor store for those who live in Hopkins, Minnesota, they clearly could care less about customer service for on-line customers, and need someone to advise them about the legal implications of advertising items for sale, accepting orders for those items, and then refusing to honor those orders because they say they sold out in their store. read more

This has to be the best online store of any type I have ever dealt with. I only wish I was close enough to visit in person! Every purchase has arrived in perfect condition protected better than I could imagine. On one occasion my order came incorrectly. In a fairly new, nondescript strip mall, you'll find a little gem of a liquor vendor. Ace Liquors, who we discovered through a Groupon, looks like a classy dark bookstore. Black shelves have small spots illuminating many craft beers, both singles on the walk behind the parsons table which serves as the checkout area, and six-packs and cases in the ubiquitous illuminated beer coolers in back, and a full wall of every whiskey that is currently sold in Minnesota. More Bourbons and Ryes than I've seen anywhere else. Friendly helpful staff and good tunes (Radio K?) In the background made it a fun trip. We'll be back! read more

I placed a large order from Ace because I forgot to get Thanksgiving liquor before we went into several weeks of pre-holiday quarantine. But when I got the receipt, I saw that a couple of the options I'd chosen were special orders and the entire shipment wouldn't be sent out until the SOs came in. I emailed them and heard back right away with an offer to cancel the order and refund me, which was the simplest way to address the issue. I got a confirmation of the cancelation, but having had bad experiences with refunds coming through, I kept an eye on my statements. Within a couple of days, I also received notification that my card had been refunded! In a world where that can take months/billing cycles, I was so appreciative that I could cross that off my list of things to worry about almost immediately! Thank you, Ace Spirits! This liquor store is one of the finest in town. The tasting bar has some truly unique and classy stuff - and it is always available when the store is open. I bought something from their Barrel program. A single barrel Crown Royal, as a gift. I sampled it and it was really fine. They feature a beer on tap at all times as well for sampling. I even spotted a bitters from my neighborhood in St Paul - Ancient Chinese Secret from 11 Wells Distillery. The staff is friendly and the store looks great. read more

My wife placed a order with ACE for a birthday present for her son. The order was placed 01/21/2019. We received confirmation of the order via email that day. by Thursday the 24th we had not yet received any tracking or delivery info so I called them. They offered no explaintion as to why they order did not go out yet except for "well it's first come first serve" what ever that meant. They said the order would go out the next day Friday 01/25/2019. Here it is Friday evening 01/25/2019 5:00 pm EST and no tracking, no delivery. To add insult to injury my wife's son lives only a few miles from the Ace Store in Hopkins Mn. His Birthday is Sunday and we hope this poorly run business can come through. Update 01/25/2019 - after contacting them and putting this review up they sent me a email the package has shipped - the word "has shipped" with a tracking number. Went to the shipping site entered the tracking number and no such number is in their system. The package has not shipped it is still sitting in their store. Worse than poor service! They could have walked the package to where my wife's son lives or had someone bring it over after them ignoring the order for so long. So much for trying to buy something local.
