My Prizm is 29 years old and I was expecting the worst, considering the age and miles I have put on this transmission. The manager, Michael, allayed my apprehension, assuring me that since the transmission had to be pulled anyway, that everything would be inspected and repaired or replaced. They replaced two seals and had it running like NEW in one day. They could have replaced EVERY part in it and I really would have expected that. They are honest, almost to a fault, I'll NEVER take a transmission anywhere else. THERE ARE NO REBUILT TRANSMISSIONS AVAILABLE FOR A 1997 GEO PRIZM and I'm certain that Michael was aware of that little complication, yet he charged me a hundred dollars less than what he had quoted me. This ALONE should speak volumes about this company. If you're a veteran, be sure you tell Michael that up front. read more

I am extremely upset and shocked... the car has not changed it was running horrible when brought to them and brought it back a day later and THEN They test drove it.. and then said.. oh it cant be fixed we "Thought" it was the valve body... 1850.00 dollars later and the car is NOT fixed.. Want to give a shoutout for ACE transmissions!!!! Look no further for a place to go to get your transmission serviced, I went there 2 weeks ago and when I first walked in the door I met Michael the owner. He greeted me warmly and felt that I had been going there for many years, even though it was my first time there. He was able to get my transmission better than brand new, I was quoted a very fair price that was several hundred of dollars cheaper than 2 other quotes. Took my car in for a diagnostic, they told me I needed an entirely new transmission. Took it to two other shops and it just needed the catalytic converters replaced. Nothing wrong with transmission at all. I don't even think this place evaluated my car, and if they did, they either lied to me or they are completely incompetent. Was on the way from Michigan to Florida to help family with hurricane damage when hit with transmission troubles after stop and go traffic through the mountains on I-75. Was able to limp into Knoxville and was told about Ace Transmission. Was sitting there waiting for them to open on Monday morning. When the opened I explained the situation and they got the vehicle in right away. Yep, transmission smoked! Fast excellent service here and a great crew of people. Entire team worked hard to get us back on the road. Even though the vehicle had lots of Michigan rust they were able to get the transmission out, built, and reinstalled very quickly, and professionally. Out of all the repair shops I've dealt with in my life (and I've dealt with quite a few, as I've had some faulty cars over the years) I have never encountered a shop as courteous, helpful, honest, or expedient as Ace Transmission. My fiance and I share a car, and it had been leaking transmission fluid lightly for some time before the leak became a solid drip. Having had extremely bad experiences at transmission places before, we tried just about everything we could to counter the leak while saving our money for what we expected to be a costly repair. Eventually the leak became too bad to handle, and after my fiance did some research online, we decided to go to Ace. When we arrived at the shop, we were immediately greeted by Joe, who was really nice and helpful. Although the shop was about to close (we literally got there 5 minutes before close because we thought they closed later), Joe took the time to talk to us and promised to hold a lift open for us the next morning. When I got the car into the shop, they were waiting for me, having called me beforehand to let me know about an open spot. Unlike most auto shops, which feature uncomfortable, cafeteria-like chairs, Ace's waiting room had leather sofas for guests. The owner, James, spoke with me while Joe fixed my car. The way the entire staff at Ace talked to my fiance and I really impressed me. Most of the time we're talked down to by mechanics - maybe its the age thing, I don't know. But James and Joe talked to us like we were people - it may sound silly but it's genuine interaction like that that makes an experience truly delightful. I had brought some work in, expecting to wait a long time, but by the time I finished talking to James and got my computer out, Joe had already fixed the transmission leak! In less than 30 minutes! They were able to fix my transmission in less than 30 minutes for $40, while other shops have tried to scam me into a complete rebuild for upwards of $1200! There is seriously no way to express the stress these guys lifted from my fiance and my shoulders - we have been worried about our transmission for 6 months+, saving money thinking we would have to spend over $1000, and these guys literally saved the day. When I told my fiance that they fixed the car and for what price they were able to do it, she literally cried with joy. Thank you guys so much, you have earned a lifelong customer here. --- Positives about Ace: The people there treat you like a human being - they aren't snobby, condescending, or judgmental The waiting room is way better than other auto waiting rooms - it has coffee + leather sofas. I didn't get a chance to ask about WIFI because they fixed my car so fast! Speedy and personal service Highly skilled workers Long running local family business HONEST - this is probably the most important thing about this place. Other places will try and scam you, I've experienced it personally. The people at Ace aren't out to make extra money off you, they're looking for the best and most affordable solutions to the problem. And, unlike other places, they have the skill to back it up. --- Few negatives: Kind of hard to spot. Look for the Popeye's, Ace is right next to it. Clinton Hwy is super busy and the parking lot is a little small. If they are full up, it might be a little difficult to maneuver. Although they had great seating, I didn't see any convenient outlets nearby. --- Overall this is by far the best transmission place I have ever done business with. I will definitely be going to them from now on for all of my auto service needs and I will be telling all my friends and family to do the same. read more

These guys can do anything! It is so rare to find an automotive repair facility with as much integrity and customer care as James and his crew provide on a daily basis. They never fail to go the extra mile in their work. They would never perform unauthorized service then charge you for it, but rather make an extra repair that you need and keep it in house just to insure your safety. I had been there a few times, and I trusted them to do good work, but then when I came in with a bigger problem, they quoted me a price that ended up being $1,200 more than what they originally told me. I took my 2010 Toyota Matrix to ACE with high hopes. My car was ruined over a small repair at a body shop. They drained oil and left it empty. Drove off with a knock and they refused to repair. So to get the repairs done I trusted in ACE. Few weeks after driving the car once ACE Transmission repaired it my car began to lose power and leak transmission oil. Took it to Rusty Wallace Toyota and they informed me that who ever done the motor repairs failed to connect the transmission correctly causing the oil to spew thorough the seals and now it's another $800 repair. ACE refuses to return any calls or fix the repairs they caused. My heart is broken and that is my only means of transportation for me and my three children. Shame on you ace. You did very dirty work and poor service. You took my money and sent home In a car that was poorly fixed. If you call that fixed. You don't deserve the 1 star but that's all I can do to get this to post. read more

We had problems with our van while in town attending our 2 daugher's college graduations. We needed our van fixed fast and and needed a fair price. They did a great job quickly and at a reasonable price. They also went out of their way to take us back to our hotel and then pick us back up when it was ready. It's been almost two years since Ace repaired my son's car and it is still running fine. So I thought I would give my review. These people really do treat you like family!!! My family and I live in northern Illinois. My Son and Daughter-In-Law were driving through Knoxville on their way to their honeymoon when the transmission went out in their car. I had them rent a car and I would take care of the broken one. This is a 1999 Taurus and I had to figure out if the car was worth fixing or just having it junked. This happened in the afternoon of Memorial Day and nothing was open. My son had the car towed to a local Ford dealer and got a taxi to the airport where they rented a car. I started Goggling repair shops and found ACE. I called the next morning and got hold of the father of the guy that runs the place and explained my situation. A vey nice guy. The next day James (the guy that runs the place) called me to discuss my options. I asked him to inspect the car from one end to the other and give me his opinion on whether to fix or junk it. He called me back with a list of things that needed repaired and thought the car was worth fixing. I agreed with the price and let them repair it. This was a third of the price the Ford dealer quoted to rebuild the transmission. In the mean time my Son and Daughter-In-Law returned from their honeymoon and moved from Illinois to Richmond VA. My Daughter-In-Law flew from Richmond to Knoxville three weeks after breaking down to pick up the car. The repair only took four days but it took my Son and Daughter-In-Law three weeks before they had time to get it. When she got to the airport in Knoxville James' sister was there to pick her up. My Daughter-In-Law told me how friendly these people are and how safe she felt. I want to thank James and his family for helping my family.
