Astoria has a couple good Colombian spots, and i'm glad there's one near the park. Always try the bandeja paisa if looking for a hefty portion. The sazón on the beans and meat reminds me of what i'd get in Cali, Colombia. Great food and good portions. They have a nice variety to choose from and they also try new things, like the little tostón cups i believe they were called. Def coming back. I've seen some reviews here where people look past the food and complain about petty things. Sometimes service at a smaller restaurant can't match the service at larger establishments, but I'm happy to trade that for the quality of food here. Acento Latin Kitchen and bar used to be my go to spot during covid for to-go margaritas and empanadas to enjoy at Astoria park. Fast forward to 2026 and this spot is still bangin. read more

Delicious food with very generous portions. That quesadilla was bursting with cheese, meat, and flavor. We did have to wait quite a bit for them to refill our waters, but otherwise a great place for a quick bite. We came here last week to celebrate my birthday and it was so worth it! Located right on ditmars blvd it is easily accessible by the q69 bus and the n/w to Ditmars blvd. We made it just in time for happy hour that ended at 7pm. We all got two rounds of margaritas. We started off with the chips and guacamole, then each got a mini bandeja paisa. The guacamole was so fresh and creamy. It was just so good! The food was delicious. Those beans were everything! Everything was a good size and you get a lot for your money. I needed to get something delicious for an upcoming Friendsgiving in Astoria Queens. After some brainstorming, I decided on a bottle of coquito. After searching on Yelp and calling around a few places to confirm, I went over to Acento Latin Kitchen & Bar. They sold me a massive bottle for $32. I'm not drinking alcohol currently however it looks absolutely delicious! Last night, I drove down Ditmars looking for a restaurant with outdoor heated seating and Latin fusion restaurant, Acento fit the bill. Although in the high 30s outside, the heated lamp and canopy and coats on, made it warm enough to eat. Most entrees are under $20. I ordered their hot apple cider with rum for $12 which was perfect for sitting outdoors. My dining companion had a $9 glass of Cabernet which she said was an above average house wine. I ordered the ropa vieja which came with fresh and chippy plántanos, yellow rice and black beans. Way better than what I was expecting, everything was fresh and flavorful. We split a tres leches which was made that day and one of the best I've ever had. The owner was lovely and gave us coquito (Puerto Rican egg nigh with rum) and it was also top notch. One of my favorite latin American restaurants. I've ordered here a bunch of times for delivery. I usually get the picada acento and its always a big portion, takes me couple days or more to finish. Great dinner spot! Came here on a Thursday evening with a friend and got seated right away. To start off, I got the Chipotle Chicken Empanada, which was really good. I tried my friend's Beef Empanada which was pretty good too. For my meal I got the Tacos de Pescado which I thought was really good. I've been here before and tried different dishes but I can't say I've enjoyed them. I got the arepa acento which had chicharrón, beans, avocado and cheese but I can't say I enjoyed eating it. It had a strange consistency. Some other dishes I've tried where the guac and chips, quesadilla, and empanadas. I do have to say that the drinks are bomb. They are strong. What a nice find not too far from the place we were staying. It was a little bit of a wait but the food was worth it for sure. When seated we had wonderful drinks and chose to get a mojito. I was surprised at how strong they make their drinks. You get your money's worth! The food was excellent. My wife's lomo salteado had fantastic flavor. Steak cooked just rice and the saltiness from the fries and rice tie it all together. My sandwich was also very good but unlike the steak from her dish, mine was a little tougher. The food was okay, although I had appetizers only. The alcohol was watered down. Caipirinha tasted like more sour than anything. "Prohibido" was a odd mix of alcohol but again was not it. I knew that this fairly new place offers a brunch deal because they advertise it on its instagram page. However, upon my arrival I wasn't offered that menu till I asked for one. The brunch and regular menus are very pictorial so just in case you don't know what to order, the pic will guide you. I ordered the calentado, this pretty much means some leftover food from the day before and warm up on the next day. Honestly, the rice with beans is the item that represents this. Everything else is supposed to be fresh. When you order from the brunch menu, you can get a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. If you like really strong coffee, you may want to order an espresso. I have to say it was fairly mild. They do not have creamer or decaf available. Once the my food arrived, I was impressed with how big the portion was. Come hungry! Food temperature was ok. I visited this restaurant last week. Wanted to try something different. I went on a workday so it was pretty much a slow night. There was no problem finding a table to sit at. The host checked vaccine cards and ID. The menu was a bit overwhelming since there were a lot of different options. They serve food in very large portions so it is best to order and share. The non-alcoholic drinks were my favorite. There was not a long wait for our food to come out. I went here Friday night with my wife and daughters. We only had apps and sangria! Both were delicious!!! We had the mini picada and empanadas. Our daughters shared a steak sandwich. The sandwich felt like a buttery pressed Cuban sandwich, but it was a steak sandwich. The red house made hot sauce was also super good! Over all the place was really cute! Acento is really great! I got the traditional country platter which is FULL of food. I loved the pork belly, although it's a little hard to chew I mean it's a chunk of pork belly, it's gonna be good!! Steak was alittle tough too but fine. The plantains were sweet and yummy. I didn't expect this, but the Hawaiian empanada is so good! I definitely suggest getting it. I've had the classic beef and chicken empanadas from Acento as well and my favorites are Hawaiian and beef. When you get your food from Acento you know you're going to have a feast, which is the best feeling :) read more

This was our first time dining at Acento and it certainly did not disappoint. The food, service and ambiance was typical of what I would expect from a Colombian restaurant... very good traditional food, super friendly, accommodating and lively... My parents who dined with us are Colombian nationals and they were pleasantly surprised by the freshness and abundance of food served. My dad, who is 80 years old and a stickler for good Colombian food, said the beans were prepared the way his mom used to make them, and the Lomo Salteado platter (Peruvian style steak with rice, fries and salad) was excellent. The platter I ordered (Bandeja Paisa) was also very good and the best I've tasted in quite some time. We all ended up taking home leftovers! That's how much food they serve.... I also want to recognize our two servers, Camila and Alejandra, who worked as a team to make our drinks, take our orders and provide an excellent dining experience for my family. They went out of their way to sing happy birthday to me and serve a complimentary Tres Leches dessert, which was delicious! The Bande Paisa is amazing. I've been eating Columbian food for 20 years. This place is a 10. The pork is crispy without spotty soft spots. Crispy all the way through. The steak is flavorful and moist. Not dry and hard as skirt steak can't often be. The empanadas. We're crispy and just amazing. Pack in a foil lined back to ensure the utmost crispness I ordered delivery and everything was packed nice and appropriately for transport. And they give sufficient sauce without me having to beg for extra and be charged for it. I ordered 2 empanadas and got 2 greed and 2 red sauces. I finally tried Acento Latin Kitchen, the newest Latino eatery on Ditmars Blvd. Though it's been open for a few weeks I finally made it there. Walking in I found it cozy with Latin music playing in the back ground, being a Saturday afternoon it wasn't crowded and we immediately took a table. We tried The Acento Picada, which consisted of grilled meats (chicharon, pork belly, sausage, beef), fried yucca, fried plantains, fried mini potatoes, and the Calentado which consisted of fried beef steak, an arepa, a fried egg and a mixture of rice and beans. Everything ordered was incredibly fresh, and I mean fresh! These two platters were awesome, the portion sizes were surprisingly huge. The presentation of the food combined with the incredible service kind of surprised me. Rarely will I say I was glad I chose this spot. I intend to go back and try there happy hour. If you're in the Ditmars area and want to try something new and tasty, give this place a try. read more

Got a chance to stop in last week to the new Latin spot on ditmars. I like the decor and the staff is very friendly. I tried the shredded beef on the fried plantains which was excellent, great taste, not to oily and if you ask for the hot sauce to put on top even better. I also tried the grilled chicken that was topped with a pineapple and ham sauce, I forget the name of the dish but it was not that great and my only reason for not getting 5 stars. I did let the staff know that the chicken was kind of dry and had no flavor. I know they just opened and they are taking feed back from their customers to improve their menu but the chef should never let chicken come out of the kitchen like that, especially a Latin kitchen. But that being said, I will go back again in 1 month to see what changes were made and I will update my review. read more

REALLLYYY, REALLLYYY wanted to love this new local spot-- and in fairness I DID anticipate some new-business hiccups-- but we were very disappointed with the service and the food. My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon and we were seated quickly and provided with menus, but I knew we were in for an interesting meal when it took an uncomfortable amount of time to be offered something to drink. Fast forward a bit-- an appetizer, 2 dishes, and 2 drinks were ordered. Pause. It took another awkwardly looooong time for our drinks to arrive (whatever... new spot, typical hiccups) and a few minutes later the appetizer was served. To start, we shared the tostones con guacamole y chicharron, and though I really enjoyed the tostones themselves (crispy on the outside and soft on the inside!), the dish as a whole was all just cold and bland-tasting, and the chicharron crumbles seemed stale. Our main dishes arrived, and our server abruptly whisked away what was left of the appetizer (which, I guess, was fine since we weren't dying to finish it). My husband ordered the mini bandeja and I ordered la cachapa (arepa with cheese)-- and the first thing I noticed was that the cheese tucked inside my arepa wasn't even melted (see photo). The arepa itself was flavorful and sweet, but the whole thing was barely luke-warm and seemed undercooked and rushed. My husband's dish was supposed to have been the "mini" bandeja, but it seemed HUGE (NOT a bad thing). His arepa seemed stale, though, and the beans were flavorless (I tried them). No one returned to check on us, and I didn't feel like causing a weird scene by stopping the server as she passed, so we didn't complain. Finally admitting defeat, we asked to pay (this part of the experience went remarkably quickly!) and after barely signing the receipt, the server was back to hover over the table and collect the check before we had left (yikes...). The end. P.S. ...Again, I reallllly want this place to do well here on Ditmars, but I felt like I needed to share this feedback because if it weren't for the awkward service -- or absence thereof-- this could have been a totally different experience. We LOVE our local spots here, and want to see them do well, so I hope that when we swing by next time, things might be different! read more

This used to be my favorite Latin place in Queens and was a regular during the past +5 years. The food quality has dropped materially during the past year. The chicharon in their bandeja paisa is no longer edible after the cut the portion in half and it's so hard that i almost broke a tooth last time. I provided feedback a few times but the management and cook dont seem to care. I really hope they fix the quality issue soon.
