I must say this is a gorgeous track with top notch facilities. The course if tough but fair. The greens are absolute perfection. Fairways are manicured. I think having mandatory caddies really help with the upkeep. Our group's caddies were Keith and Eric. Each caddy manages 2 bags. I suppose you can get a caddy for yourself, but I haven't played in months. This was just a chance to hangout with friends that I haven't seen so my game was below average. We played from the middle tees which is 6,156 yards with a 71.0/138 rating/slope. Pretty respectable for member's tees! After the round we enjoyed a nice Riesling wine accompanied with cheese and various small bites. I recommend sitting outdoor so you can take in the spectacular view. Their locker room is top notch complete with showers, steam room, toiletries and friendly staff to clean your shoes. This place does have a lot of beginner golfers like myself, and everyone playing the course was fairly nice. My issue was with the staff and the way we were treated. My partner had asked the staff at the front if we could play alone, since his gf is new to golf and he also asked for a cart. Low behold, they had no carts and the guy told us we had to wait until someone returned one. Then he started going off about how if he gave preference to us he would have to do it with everyone blah blah blah. I'm sorry but what? We were not asking for preference merely for him to work with us? Every other course we've played at locally has been accommodating and have normally let us play alone and if they can't at that moment, they are nice about it and will tell us if we want to start earlier or come back another time. I will also add that we choose to go at times when it's not so packed for this intent and purpose because I'm still learning so I'm not as fast as the other players neither as good. I'm not sure where the attitude came from. Especially when it appeared like they overbooked the damn course, since there was 0 carts and 0 carts to carry your golf bag!! If they overbooked that sounds like an internal problem and also you don't need to be mean or rude to new players. This is one of the main reasons women don't play golf because of experiences like this. I was shocked and disappointed at the comment because he could've just said hey unfortunately I can't right now or can you come back later or something. He acted like we were asking for special treatment, newsflash I see golfers play alone ALL the time it's really not that big of a deal or an ask... Majority of places locally understand and at least work with you. They understand if you're a beginner you might need some extra time vs shoving you in a group to get the course moving because they overbooked. I will also add that the people in front and in the back were pretty far from us the whole time so I'm not sure what the big deal was with allowing us to play alone. Anyways the experience left a sour taste on my mouth. I don't think I'd ever come back.

The quality of the fairways is amazing and the bunkers are fluffy. My family enjoy our times at the club. For me the best part is that I can go and play 18 holes of golf is under 3 hours, outside of the typical busy hours like Saturday morning. I never have to worry about being hit by a golf ball and people are very friendly. Every hole is different and is a good challenging course to play. The greens are fast often 11+. The club is investing a lot into improving, since I've been there I've seen a new pool deck, pickle ball courts, tennis and pickle ball court floodlights, new gym with Foresight Eagle Sim Room, Spin Studio, Large studio room, and many other things. Annabel, Chris, Peyton, and everyone we interacted with were incredibly helpful and we felt like we were in the best hands. Working with this team made a challenging time feel a bit easier and allowed us to really celebrate our loved one. We started with a website inquiry and were able to take a tour shortly after. The event space has lots of windows that look over the golf course. They provide tables, chairs, linens, outdoor space, a lovely built in bar, memorial table, and a water, tea, and lemonade beverage station. We hosted a group of around 100 and fit very comfortably. They were able to set up a stage with podium and microphone. They also had 2 tvs that we were able to display a slideshow on. Prior to the event we were able to set up a food tasting and loved every dish we tried. During the event we received endless compliments of how lovely the space, food, and staff were. We would highly recommend the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club for any event.

I had my first lesson with Steve today. Such a nice guy! He watched my swing and quickly found some…read morebasic things that could help. He broke down the basics of the golf swing, with a lot of examples that I could easily understand. He showed me a video of my swing so I could see when my head was popping up a bit, etc... He also gave me drills to do at home that would help build muscle memory for the new things I had learned. It's definitely going to take some work, but the times I did put together the things he had me work on today, it felt so smooth, the contact was beautiful, and the ball went perfectly straight. I've been out in the backyard practicing the drills and can feel it getting easier already. I'm so happy I finally went and got a lesson. I'll be back to Steve Donnor Golf again soon for drivers and putting. For now though, I actually feel like I'm heading in the right direction for the first time in a while.
