The SEEDS package is a banger of a deal (5 SEEDS for $180) and each SEED gets you at least one hitting or skill hour or a sandlot game. The website's hours are incorrect. Went on a Saturday afternoon when they should've been open according to their website, but it was closed. We even called before and were led to voicemail, but it gave us no indication that the batting cages weren't open. Wasted money and time traveling here. read more

Really cool spot. Was working in the area and happened to have my bats on me, so stopped by. Cool set up and they have HitTrax so you can see your exit velo, launch angle, and estimated distance. Will come back if I ever have the chance. read more

We reserved time in the batting cage and pitching lane twice during spring break week to keep up skills. The guys were super friendly and encouraging, even giving some helpful tips despite it not being a lesson. We liked that the pitching machines were manually adjustable instead of the coin-op robots - while you need an extra person to feed the balls, you can also adjust the machine to practice hitting specific pitches. Will come here to practice whenever we're in town. read more

That have the patience needed to work with the kids as well as with "set in thier ways" adults. Decided to take a lesson to brush up on hitting and fielding. Michael was very responsive and helpful with scheduling. Met with Travis for my lesson and he gave me a ton of great tips. Props to Michael and his team for creating a great place to refine, practice, and get great instruction. I needed help with my swing for slowpitch softball. Paid for 3 private sessions (they have group sessions too), they were very flexible with scheduling, and the "coaching" was great. I have been there on and off for about 4 months; each visit helped me refine my skill level (at hitting at least). Been to this place a thousand times, friendly coaches and great environment for any age group. I usually work 1 on 1 but the they offer group classes for different age groups; Not to mention that they have their own travel ball team. It's the bottom of the 6th (and with a time limit, this is the last at-bat), and his team's behind 4-2 with two outs and his best buddy on first base. He walks up to the plate, digs in and lets the first pitch go by. He puts his head down and - crack - home run. Dugout empties, screams from 12-year-old boys drown out each other, and video saved (phew!). It's not Field of Dreams, but it's everything to a kid. I called Michael to schedule a birthday party. His website says Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours) Pricing: $225 Then in an email he told me that the real charges are the following: As for pricing, we charge $375 for up to 10 players and every player over 10 is an additional $25 charge (12 players=$425) I told Michael that I shocked that the price doubled. He proceeded to tell me that his website is wrong. I suggested that he change it or honor the pricing on the website. He proceeded to tell me that private coaching is $80/hour so there it is not cost effective to do a birthday party for $225 because it takes him 1 hour or 2 to clean up in addition to the birthday party. read more

Michael Aicardi was highly recommended by a friend for my 7 year old son, who has now had 5 private baseball lessons with Michael over that past few months. MIchael is a very good baseball coach for the kids, and explains his approach well to the parents. I played baseball through high school, and yet I have learned many things from Michael that I would have never thought to teach my son. He focuses on correct mechanics so the children learn to play properly and don't develop bad habits that lead to injuries later in life (I wish I had a coach that could have taught that as I throw out my arm in HS). I can't overstress my belief in the importance of good mechanics. I haven't hit a baseball in 21 years and I tried some of his tips in the cage; I was so wildly impressed with my hitting that I believed for a few minutes that I could go pro! I am now introducing other kids on my son's SF little league team to Michael and am trying to teach some of these techniques in little league fall ball (I help coach a team). I highly recommend you give him a try! Michael is working to get his business fully established and recently opened this facility. The facility is situated in a warehouse and is intimate -- which works well for the private lessons. Don't expect some huge facility lined with batting cages and vending machines. He has 3 hand-loaded pitching machines and configurable netting. There is one of those telephone buzzers to enter the building off of Tennessee St, and then head up the elevator to the 2nd floor. Bring check or cash as he doesn't yet have credit card processing, but will likely have in the future. You should probably call ahead to make sure he is there if you are just showing up just to meet him or see the facility. I hear he does adult and kid parties there. And he has group lessons if you don't want to commit to a full private hour. read more

My son came in thinking he didn't need to learn anything (at 8 years old, he knows everything), but in one lesson learned something at every station. MIchael and his team are really fantastic! We have had 2 birthday parties there (2 consecutive years) and these guys are amazing with kids. Our son has also been taking baseball lessons and participating in a clinic with them and I can't sing their praises loudly enough! Not only have I seen our son's baseball skills improve tremendously, but I am always impressed by they way Michael and his team work with the kids in an encouraging, yet firm manner - providing both high-fives and cheers, but also kind guidance, and (if necessary in a chaotic situation) firm and calm reminding of the rules of the game and/or facility. I signed my 3.5 year old son for a week of baseball camp this summer and he loved it. Coaches Joe and Mike are great-- Joe and his assistant coaches (teenage kids) managed to keep my toddler occupied for 3 full hours of running bases, drills and games. My son was really happy at camp and excited to go back each morning. He uses baseball vocabulary and wants to practice in the afternoons. Today, we celebrated our son's 7th birthday and I was highly impressed from the beginning. As a second grade teacher, I know the importance of having proper space, appropriate ratio, and engaging/tactile activities. Above all having instructors that display creativity, patience, provide positive reinforcement , and models great sportsmanship skills, I stepped in at first to glance at their interaction with the children, but within minutes I left because everything was well organized and the children looked ecstatically happy!!! In addition, my guests were also impressed with the coaches punctual planning through out the party and how courteous they were with all my guests. I went in on a recommendation to get some cage time with live pitching. I emailed them, was contacted back quickly and set up a 30 minute time slot the next day. They checked me in, signed a waiver and I met Val, who would be throwing to me. He offered excellent advice (I paid for just cage time, not sure if they usually offer instruction/tips during that time) on my swing and he picked up on a fundamental flaw I had developed. He broke down what I was doing wrong and showed me how I could fix it. I immediately improved upon implementing his suggestions and left the cages a much better hitter than I arrived. He also was great at switching up the location of the pitches to work inside/outside/up/down. That's not something you can get at the normal cages. It's a little pricy for a half hour of cage time compared to places that just have a machine, but worth every dollar if you're serious about getting better. Plus, nothing beats live pitching and real baseballs. Looking forward to scheduling another session with them. Thanks guys! read more

I really, really wanted to like Michael and the sf baseball academy. My son took a baseball class here through lil sluggers and it seemed like a great space. It sounds like he is great on a 1:1 basis, but trying to arrange a baseball birthday party was like root canal. I looked to the website, followed the instructions, then booked the party with the person that answered the phone. Then I got a call from Michael telling me that my child would be in a bad mood at the time that I had scheduled it. When I assured him that was not the case, and confirmed that it was available, he said that it was just really late and it would take him 4 hours (!) to clean up after a 2 hour party and he didn't like working that late. I tried a different time on a Sunday, but he doesn't open on Sundays. So I then promised we'd all help clean up if we could have it at the original time I booked it. He agreed (yay!) but then went on to tell me that the price on the website was inaccurate and it would cost TWICE as much as he has listed. Its not even clear what services are offered. And aren't there laws against false advertising? He wasn't even willing to negotiate, given all of the back and forth and the fact that I had initially booked the party, based the terms on the website. It was a real disappointment to me, I tried to be as flexible as possible. Luckily for me, my child was fine with finding a new plan. read more

I took my son and his buddy to SF Baseball Academy for a round in the batting cages. Both boys had a great time and I'm sure we'll be back. The facilitate is small compared to others but given the lack of cages in SF it's more than adequate. Michael seems like a good guy who gets kids. read more
