I then reach out via email and hear nothing for a few more weeks. After three weeks, I finally receive a call from Cindy informing me the spot had been filled as she was waiting to hear from my wife and I regarding the enrollment. Are you kidding? If that were that case, then why not reach out to us before filling a spot? Why not provide a simple call or email or anything? She says it was our fault for telling her we needed to think about it during the tour as this was on her notes. I can assure you she took no notes during our visit nor did she even remember my child's name when she called. As you tour the facility and speak to Cindy just ask yourself is this person organized? Is the place well run? Again, I can't speak to the care of the children here, but, after this experience I will be sure to keep away. I don't trust a disorganized person to manage the care of my child, the most precious thing in my life. I'll search elsewhere. You might want to as well.

When I came to Chapel Haven, my plan was to take the 2 year program and then leave for college. Well, by the end of those two years, I decided to stay in the area and continue receiving services. And now, after 6 years of living in this state, my physical and mental health are at the worst that they have ever been. Before Chapel Haven, I would have never dreamed of harming myself. About 4 years ago, I tried cutting my face. My weight is the highest it's ever been, and it only keeps getting higher. I have not finished college despite having gone to a prep school prior to attending the ASAT program. I feel inadequate about looking for a job. The only merit I can see in retrospect is the friendships I've formed. Oh, and the speech and language patgologist is nice too. I would advise against attending. In my eyes, Chapel Haven seems to define "independence" as "dependence on our services."

Look at the reviews for people who have been there 3, 4, 10 years. Why? It isn't free to do this - it's expensive. The point is to create independence, not create a line on the income statement. There were almost zero staff with experience with autism. Many different kinds of issues, including some that could be considered potentially dangerous. Autism does not need to be cured - it needs to be supported. There are those there with profound issues that may otherwise face institutionalization - they are staying at what could be about $82,000 per year (on our info sheet anyway). The classes were little more than YouTube shorts with no deliverables, taught by very inexperienced teachers. In short, this seemed to be a Haven for rich families who need to have their adults elsewhere. I would say that Anna K's review on this page sums up the experience nicely - horrible. Waste of money - ALOT of money.

My daughter comes home and tells me about how the girls go to the bathroom and do self harm. it's very concerning as a mother to hear this type of stuff coming from a Catholic school out of all places and. And the girls that do it, recommend to the other younger ones to do it as well and the counselor system isn't the best cause the students mostly talk among themselves about their problems which can start a lot of problems by giving bad advice, and the boys in the school are very chaotic and loud as my daughter says, and they make rude jokes to the girls. They think they're joking, but it's considered bullying and they're quite inappropriate.

I looked into See Us Grow and came in for a tour and loved the center! The staff is extremely friendly and you can tell they genuinely care for the children and families. We've been here since August 2011. My oldest daughter loves her teachers, all the activities, art,…read morereading and outside play time she gets. My toddler loves her teachers, being outdoors and singing songs. The staff is knowledgeable, caring and (for the most part) long term employees. My girls have the same few teachers day in and day out and the schedule stays the same with teacher(s) every AM and the same in the PM. I love the consistency of knowing who is with my girls every day. I also love all the creativity in activities, themes and lessons that are provided for the older kids! In the evening when I pick up my toddler all toys that have been "mouthed" by the kids are air drying on the counter after being cleaned. The facility is owned and run by two sisters (Palmira and Maria) who are on site every day. They split they day so one of them is there from open until close. I appreciate having the ability to ask a quick question or give an update directly to the owners for things like health care, forms, etc. They spend the summer months going through their supplies, games, puzzles and the facility while the enrollment is lower due to summer vacations and eliminate anything that might be missing pieces or damaged, replace and repair whatever can be that they haven't caught along the way and doing the minor repairs and upkeep necessary to keep any facility of this kind looking clean. This was appeal ling to me while I was visiting the site in the summer of 2011. They also have plans to expand a covered porch area for the younger kids to be able to get some fresh air even when there's snow on the ground. I also like that they are involved in the scholastic book club ordering for the older children and St. Judes Trike-a-thon and the MDA Hop-A-thon. It's made sharing lessons of charity, caring for others, and "paying it forward" staple conversation in our house. I have experiences with 4 different daycares thanks to changes in our circumstances (family expanded, job requirements, etc). and I'm extremely happy with this choice. I just wish they were closer to my home! The one drawback and that may be because of last years unusual wet season - there are a lot of mosquitoes and my oldest is a magnet! This year we'll be using a skin-so-soft sunscreen combo to try to prevent bug bites. Hopefully with the dryer winter this won't be an issue. FYI Parents provide as appropriate: Sleeping materials (sheet and blanket and lovey) All meals and snacks sunscreen (must apply at home in the AM, center reapplies later in the day) change of clothes diapers, wipes, diaper cream/powder bibs
