I tend to distrust people who work on my vehicle because of previous experiences where I've spent far more money than I had budgeted for or what was equivalent to the service and parts received. I came across this body shop through my car insurance and will gladly return because they have earned my trust. Not only did they repair my car without flaw, they also went out of their way to educate me on what else I could get out of my insurance to improve the value of my vehicle. Ethically, of course. To top it off, the owner stayed behind 30 extra minutes as I was delayed in traffic on a Friday and then personally assisted me with my son's baby seat. He also helped me to transfer my groceries from the rental to my repaired vehicle. I was so grateful that I was happy to offer him a $40 tip which he refused. Talk about integrity. I'm happy to report that there are still decent human beings out there who will not scam you just because they can. This business has earned my loyalty. read more

ACME did a great job with my car that had been scratched all along the driver side while parked. They made it very easy for me as they made arrangements with the insurance adjuster to go directly there, appraise the repair, and receive payment directly. My mom brought her car in for an estimate after a minor car accident. She was recommended this auto body shop by her insurance because of the close proximity to her house and "good" ratings. When my mom inquired about an estimate the representative she spoke with insisted she sign an agreement prior to the estimate being conducted. The agreement was a contract stating she was agreeing with ACME completing all repairs and that she will be fully responsible for making payment for all work performed. Signing that form would have been fine if she agreed to all terms and quoted price. Instead, she rejected to sign and pointed out she wanted an estimate before committing to their service. I rated this auto body shop poorly because instead of giving my mom a quote as she originally requested, they made excuses that it would simply take "too long" to do the estimate and tried to trick her into signing a contract. It seems as though an estimate would have been performed only if they contract would have been signed. I understand the want and need for customers but that was just a shady move and could have been handled differently. read more

Had a series of unfortunate experiences here that showed a complete lack of communication, customer service, care and attention to detail. Would not recommend using this body shop. I brought my car in for bodywork as tree branch had fallen on my car. This shop originally quoted 5-7 days for the work. I showed up 7 days later and was told that no parts had arrived and work hadn't started yet. I was frustrated that I had to show up to get this information and didn't get a call. I was told to come back in a week. I came back a week later and was told the parts STILL hadn't arrived. I told the shop I needed the car back and would bring it back when they received the parts. Magically, the parts arrived and I was told I could pick the car up that afternoon. When I picked the car up it was still dusty and trim pieces that were removed were not re-attatched but just left loose in place. Work took twice as long as quoted but still felt like a rush job. About a month later, I noticed water leaking into the car right where the work was done and a mold smell. I brought the car back to Acme and spoke to Steve who quickly looked at the car and said "I can't find where the leak is coming from, but these things happen, its not our fault". I brought it to another shop who identified a loose drain hose directly next to where the work was done by ACME- either disconnected by the original damage or by the work. I brought it back to ACME with this information and Steve again denied any responsibility. Refused to look at the car again, and refused to admit the possibility that the leak was caused by the original damage and not fixed by the shop, or caused by the work itself. My insurance finally has agreed that the water leak is associated with the damage and subsequent work, but not after I had to drive around with a moldy car for weeks. Cannot stress enough the lack of care, communication and customer service at this location. Please go elsewhere read more

I rarely write negative reviews, but I had terrible experience at Acme. I had my car completely repainted at Acme, and even though I was told it would take 2 weeks, maybe a little longer, it took 30 days, and when I finally got my car back, the dash panel had gouges and scrapes on it, including right over the passenger side airbag of my 2006 Infiniti FX35. He gave me $500 off my deductible for the damage, but he should have offered to replace the dash panel, which costs $2600 with installation. I am going to have to pay this myself, and it won't be at Acme. It will be at my Infiniti dealership. The paint job itself is pretty good, but he also missed painting the neck of my right side mirror. This caused me a lot of stress, and it's going to cause me a lot of money to fix the dash panel. Go somewhere else. UPDATE: I've upgraded my review to 2 stars because Acme has purchased me a new dash assembly for my car and wants to install it free of charge. If they do a great job, I will upgrade this review to 3 or 4 stars. I appreciate that they want to make this right. 2nd UPDATE: They were really nice and replaced my dash panel. They wanted to make the situation right, and they did. I am very happy with the end result. read more

They do great work. My front bumper was like new. They set up Enterprise rent a car to drop off car and pick up rental. The staff is friendly. They take pictures of your car before and after. The only reason giving 4 stars is that they told me I could receive texts for step by step process from their appraisal, insurance company appraisal to when ready etc... But that did not happen. I had a very poor experience at Acme Body & Paint and I would not recommend this body shop. Let me explain. My BMW was rear ended by someone texting and driving. Based on the quality of the Yelp reviews I saw, I took my car here. From the minute I dropped off the car, I felt uncomfortable. Everyone felt like a salesman, and that is not how I want to feel at a body shop that I am supposed to trust with fixing my car. I had issues: 1. They do not use original manufacturer parts, which is a real problem for me because if I am spending this much money on fixing my car, I want it to look exactly like it was before it was damaged. Of course, it is better for their bottom line to use cheaper parts, but that's not what I want. 2. They refused to make commitments - for example, I asked when the car would be ready and they waffled and ended up giving me a window of 3 possible dates of completion. Not good since I can't just leave work whenever they get around to finishing things up. 3. Their prices were sky high. I was quoted $775 by Acme Body & Paint. Elite Body Works in Roslindale quoted me $550, Brookline Foreign Motors in Brookline quoted me $600, and Newton Collision in Newton quoted me $550. For the exact same repair job. I took a hard pass on the shop and got my car fixed elsewhere. A few weeks later, I spoke with a friend who said that she had her car repaired at Acme and was still trying to bring her car back for further repairs because they made mistakes. As my car sat dormant for the past 3 months in front of my house, I noticed that the front bumper was becoming looser and looser by the day. Sometimes I would give it shove and get it back into place only to see it loose again in the morning. I finally decided that I would have to take it somewhere close by because I wasn't sure the bumper could stay in place during a long drive. I called Arborway where I get my mechanical work done and they recommended Acme (as well as Peter's). I drove over to Acme because it was in walking distance of my house. I had what i can only describe as a dream of an experience. A young man came out to look at my car, gave it a much better shove than I had been giving it and put the bumper back in place. He said, "Pop the hood while I go get some fasteners and I should have you out of here in 5 minutes." He came back and did some quick work on the front of the car from inside the hood. Then he gave the bumper a firm shake and it was solid. "We're good," he said. "Bring it back if you have any more problems." No charge. Especially during the pandemic, this was a heartwarming experience. Of course, since this is JP, when I got home my space was taken. But given what had just happened, I didn't care, and found another one. read more

I brought my new Tesla to ACME Body and Paint to repair a minor scratch on the back bumper. I went in for quote, which was the cheapest quote I got compared to the Tesla dealership and other reputable auto body shops in the area. ACME had good reviews and half the price of what I was quoted for, I was a little hesitant, but went with it. The repair was done within a day and a half. They didn't get the exact matching color at first, but they kept trying until they got the exact color. I was extremely happy with their work. The do lifetime warranty on all their work, which gave me a piece of mind. A week later I noticed an area on the bumper that appeared a little smudged, I contacted David to make him aware, he took care of it right away. It only took 15 min and I was back on the road again. I dropped off my car on Monday in the AM, and it was ready Thursday in the AM. Besides replacing the bumper, they also detailed the interior and exterior, and installed some mudflaps my wife gave me for my birthday at no charge. At the risk of sounding like I'm developing a man-crush, they were also fast, courteous, and knowledgeable of the whole process. Even suggested I get a rental since I was going through the other guys insurance. I ended up using my wife's car, but they thought to at least ask. It's crazy to me that these guys have been reviewed less than 20 times, but completely understandable that they're unanimously 5 stars. This winter, thanks to space saver drama, all four doors of my car got keyed down to the metal in some parts. Acme took me on with limited notice, was friendly and helpful every step of the way and may or may not have repaired some scrapes on my front bumper free of charge. But here's what really set them apart for me: adding insult to injury, my rental car's tail-light was broken in a parking lot, I brought it back to them, they called around to find the cheapest part and replaced it free of charge. It's impressive in this day and age to find a body shop you can trust 100%, but Acme is definitely that place, can't recommend highly enough. read more

This place is fantastic! Just got my car back from them and it was perfect...they even took a couple dings out that weren't part of the appraisal, at no extra charge. On top of that, my car was clean and fully detailed inside and out, like new! AND I had a full tank of gas which I'm pretty positive is not how I left it with them.
