The work was good and the price was fine but the customer service was lacking. It was a very small job. I dropped my car off at 9 am and didn't hear from Matt. Realized it was 6 pm and called to leave a message. I needed to drive somewhere in the morning and leave by 9 am. Matt left a message that evening that the car would be ready between 9:30 and 10 am. Matt did not say that it might be a two day job or call me during the day with an update or ask if we should reschedule. Very poor communication. read more

My insurance company fu€ked me hard on a total loss claim and Matt fixed my.car at a rate $1000 under the other repair shop by forest hills. After dislocating my front bumper in a minor accident while backing up my car, I drove over here to get a quote to repair the damage. They have a brand new building. Very clean and plenty of space to park. After pulling up in front of the main office, the manager came out, took a quick look at my car, then asked one of his guys to fix it on the spot. No charge. I was shocked. Nice to see a business that realizes that it's good to be nice to customers! I thought the damage was serious (and was ready to pay $$$), but it only took him ten minutes to unscrew a few pieces and re-align the bumper, and re-tighten the screws. I took my car here to have a dent fixed (it was on two panels). I had been quoted $1200 at Acme Auto Body on Washington St, and thought that was absurd. I was quoted $650 here at Jamaica Plain Auto Body. They did a great work, and my car was only gone 24 hours. Good as new, but smelling extremely chemically. Matt was the manager and he was very nice. I liked that they seemed to have standard pricing - because he was working on two panels, he knew the price right away was $325 each panel. They were an arson victim and as a result had to move their office to a different part of the building so they are currently not accepting credit cards until things are up and running again. read more

I brought my (new!) car here to get an estimate for repair after someone backed up into me and scraped the bumper. It was a pretty minor thing, but the bumper was scuffed and scratched and had the other car's paint on it. When I arrived, the manager took a look at it and said he'd have one of his guys try buffing it out right then, and if it looked fine there would be no charge. I pulled the car around to where the extension cord would reach, and then, just like he said, one of the employees spent 10 minutes or less working on it and my brand new car looks brand new again. I went here after seeing Yelp reviews that were pretty glowing. It's a few blocks from my house so I thought I'd give it a try. I got into an accident that was my fault (beware the green line tracks on South Huntington in JP in the rain!) so I was paying out of pocket. I was quoted around 3000 at a few other places and brought my car over to JP Auto Body and they gave me a quote for less. I think he felt bad that I was paying it on my own (and I literally could barely afford it) so he helped me out. I brought it in on a Monday, they totally reconstructed my trunk and fixed my wheel alignment in a week. He wanted to get it to me by that Friday but it was a lot of work, so I was patient and thankful that they did everything even though it took a while. A week seemed very reasonable, and considering how awesome they are, I was happy to have the job well done. read more

In Boston on a travel nurse assignment for Covid19 and hit something in the middle of the interstate one day. Car started making some noise. Looked under and the plastic cover under the car was hanging (clearly I don't know anything about cars because that's the best I can describe it). My car was rear-ended and Matt (the manager) was extremely helpful in dealing with the other parties insurance company and ensuring that my repairs were timely and affordable. My post-accident experience was fairly traumatic before I took my car to JP Auto. The insurance companies were fussy and the adjusters were sluggish, but my arrival at the repair garage helped put me at ease. I brought my car in for some body work early one Monday morning with the owner telling me that he hoped to have it ready for Friday. Fair enough I thought, I knew he disagreed with my insurance company's appraisal and was going to have to fight with them, I hope so too. I've heard many good things about this shop, so I thought it would all be worthwhile. Fast-forward to Friday at 4:45 pm, and after not hearing a peep from the shop all week I decide to call and see what the status is. I was told that I could pick up my car, but it wasn't fixed. In fact, they didn't do anything with my car at all the entire week. I realize that the insurance company appraiser had to come out to take another look and probably work up another estimate, but I feel like this should have been worked out and that I should have been able to hold on to my car for the majority of the week, or at least have been informed of the situation. I'm a little unhappy, but promised that when I bring my car back in Monday morning it will be ready Tuesday. My girlfriend drops my car off on Monday morning and around noon I call to see when I can expect the car back. The owner tells me Wednesday the latest. I explain that he already told me it would be ready on Tuesday and he says "I'll tell you Wednesday as a worst case scenario, and hopefully it'll be Tuesday." I got the car back on Thursday afternoon. read more

I brought my SUV in for a front bumper replacement and to fix hail storm markings and, a week later, the car feels brand new. I highly recommend coming here. I went to three body shops in the area and also sought out the advice of friends. When I went to Jamaica Plain Autobody, Matt, the owner, quoted me a competitive & fair price. In addition, since this was my first time ever getting my car fixed using insurance, I was initially leery about working with any body shop because the process of estimating the cost of getting one's car fixed can feel opaque. Matt walked me through the process of submitting the claims. The process he described was confirmed by my insurer; this added to the trust factor. I also asked Matt about places to go to get the inside of the car cleaned, including fabric stain removal. As part of getting my car fixed, his team also washed and vacuumed the inside carpet and mats as well as removed the fabric stain. They removed minor white scratches on the paint and washed the outside of the car. Lastly, Matt coordinated all of the insurance communication directly once I brought him the claim numbers. He also coordinated to have Enterprise in Roslindale pick me up and provide me with a rental car that my insurance covered. Enterprise then give me a ride back to the body shop when my car was ready a week later. Matt was incredibly communicative about when the car would be ready and was extremely professional during the entire process of getting the car fixed. it felt like a brand-new car when I got it back. The owner of Jamaica Plain Auto Body, Matt, has a strong sense of ethics that applies to every transaction. Two years ago his mechanics replaced my radiator after an accident. There was no charge to me; because I was not at fault. Thirteen months later, long past any traditional warranty, the radiator began to leak. Jamaica Plain Autobody replaced the radiator and insisted the manufacturer absorb the cost. Obviously every accident and repair has different circumstances that have to be considered. But I have sent many neighbors and friends to this company, and every one of them has come away feeling confident in the quality of the repairs and grateful for the reasonable rates. They worked with my insurance company and were so communicative and helpful throughout the process, especially since I had never been in an accident before and didn't know how it worked. After my repair was stalled for a few days while they waited on the insurance agent to be able to come back out to the shop, Matt even called the rental car company to ask that they help me out with the mounting costs of my rental (since my insurance didn't cover it). Needed to get some post-storm body work done. Found this place on my insurance company's list of accepted shops and they were only a couple blocks from my house, so it seemed super convenient. Brought it in and they told me it would be about a week because it was on a long holiday weekend so they would be missing a work day. Not too bad I thought. The week came and went with no word. I give them a call the day I am supposed to pick the car up only to find out that it is not only not done, but that they need to get the insurance guy to come reappraise the damage. This was on a Friday, so of course that would not happen until Monday, and then they would get the car to me by Wednesday at the latest. Wednesday came, again with no word. I called the shop and was informed that the insurance guy never came. This process went on for two additional weeks (never once did they call me to update me about the situation). After a month and a half I finally got my car back, complete with a host of new scratches, several small holes in the front bumper that were not there previously, broken cup holders (wtf?) and a leaking trunk. Oh and several badly damaged pieces of my car were reused on the final product, even though the appraisal called for replacement. I was so frustrated by the entire experience that I am fixing the new and remaining body issues myself rather than have to deal with JP Auto Body again. read more

They took a few days longer than they had said, but they did it for a great price, and the car was super clean inside and out when I got it back. It was a great decision. I spoke with the owner on a Friday afternoon and he gave me an rough estimated based on the explanation I provide him over the phone. He asked me for my insurance info and while on the phone, and let me know my deductible and that I was also covered for a rental car. He made a call to Enterprise and told me if I brought the car in, they could have a car ready for me in 30 minutes! I moved to JP only 8 days ago and discovered that someone hit my car, denting the driver front quarter panel preventing me from opening the driver's door. After reading the reviews of local auto body shops I went to Jamaica Plain Auto Body. Matt, the owner was fabulous. He took a look at the damage and on the spot re-aligned the quarter panel which gave me conventional access to the driver's seat. Then he turned to me and said "Welcome to JP". This wonderful customer service (and no charge fix) was terrific. He gave me a verbal estimate for repairing the panel and repainting. Stan up guy!! I brought by a motorcycle I had laid down and bent a few parts of the luggage rack and sub frame by the passenger pegs. I had tried to straighten everything out my self but I wasn't able to, these guys got the job done perfectly, with great attention to detail. Is it too much to ask that a $45,000 car be treated with a little more care and expertise than my car got here? I don't think so. When my insurance company gave you an appraisal over $10,000 shouldn't you perhaps take some care in what you're doing so I wouldn't have to come back THREE times???? Perhaps. Very sloppy job, awful at communication regarding any progress (never called - I had to call myself and when I pointed out the mistakes the 3rd time around, he stopped returning my calls). Things that had nothing to do with the area of damage were in fact damaged after the "repair" - for example, windows wouldn't go up automatically, bluetooth wouldn't connect...etc) PLUS there were scratches and paint stains (white paint stains on a black car!) on the body that were not there before I took it into this hell hole of a shop. The owner Matt always acted like he was too busy and never explained anything - very passive and arrogant. Never ever NEVER again will I be going back here. The only reason I was forced to was because the body shop I usually go to (Foreign Auto Body in Allston) couldn't take my car because he was going on vacation - now George at FAB is meticulous. I had my driver's side rear view mirror damaged in a parking lot and contacted JP Auto Body for a quote. Matt returned my call promptly and told me to drop off the car so he could take a look. With their location convenient to Orange Line, this was very easy. Later that day, Matt called me and said that they were able to reattach the mirror with an adhesive and that it did not need to be replaced at this time. He then proceeded to tell me that there would be no charge for the work. First off, to have an auto body shop tell you that you didn't need to have something replaced was a breath of fresh air. Second, to have an auto body shop do anything for free (even minor things) was just outstanding - although from other reviews it appears that this is the way they do business. My car was rear ended so I took a chance and went to this auto body shop. In the past, for auto body work, I have gone to a shop in Cambridge, but this time I decided to go to Jamaica Plain Auto Body Shop because it was closer to my house. My experience there was not so great. First of all, the guy in charge was not that communicative and/or friendly. Second of all, in addition to fixing the repair covered by my insurance, I also repaired a damage to my car that occurred previously. For this out of pocket repair, the guy in charge (Mat) asked me to pay $800! Initially I thought it might have been a fair price, however when I brought my car home after the repair, and inspected it more closely, I noticed that some parts of the car still showed damage. So, I definitely do not recommend this shop. One more thing, they do not take credit cards! I had to pay this out of pocket expense with a check when I intended to pay it with my credit card instead. If you are looking for an auto body shop in the area, there are quite a few other shops with good ratings. Do your due diligence and research other shops before coming to this place to get your car repaired. Other high rating shops in the area will probably do a better job and they take credit cards because I checked, but unfortunately after the fact. read more

I brought my car in to get an estimate for a paint scratch on the bumper from where someone ran into me. They took a look at it, gave it a quick chemical buffing, and no more scratch! It took about 2 mins and they didn't charge me anything! I'll go back here if I ever need anything else fixed. Nice facility, but its a bit hard to find- you have to follow the signs all the way around to the back before you see it. read more
