My jeep was damaged in an accident and Peter did a great job replacing the factory parts with OEM parts and ensured a proper repair by working through the insurance company to get OEM parts rather than reproductions. Sadly, there was heavy pollen when my bumper was repainted and several imperfections were noticed in the paint. Peter was able to set up a return time and correct al the imperfections. Makes me glad to patronize a local business. 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the following: In both cases where I brought the car in for rear bumper replacement and painting (yay, Boston!), the job wasn't done correctly the first time, so it did mean bringing it back (more than once for the second repair), which was somewhat inconvenient, but there was no talk of paying until I deemed the job completely done, and when it finally was completely done, I was perfectly content with the work. read more

There are no two worst words in a New England winter than "black ice." Fortunately, the reciprical of those words are "Peter's Auto Body". It always sucks when your "virgin" car (newish) gets it's first fender-bender. There are real "chop shops" out there - especially those who also do double duty as a towing service for the City of Boston - towing vehicles parked 3 minutes too late on street cleaning night. Then to make matters worst, their sloppy slim jimming put tears in my weather stripping, but that was a long time ago and I digress. Peter (yes, the name of the company still runs it - how rare these days), came recommended by the insurance adjustor even though PsAB is outside of the Met Life "preferred shops" list. That was clue number one that this was a solid recommendation since "making a buck" is #1 on any insurance company's list of priorities (followed by God and Country as distant second and third place). When I went in for the initial consult, he was no BS and very professional. We discussed how auto body shops use big globs of bondo instead of taking the time, and procedures to properly pull out dents. He asked for the required time with appropriate expectations setting to do the job right, and lo and behold, the car was finished on time, on budget and looked fabulous. Plus his shop is a hop, skip and jump from the Forrest Hills T stop - and a 15 and 20 min commute to Back Bay and Downtown Crossing stops respectively. I hope you never have to find an auto body shop, but if you do find yourself in need, you can't do much better than Peter. read more

Peter's came highly recommended from our neighbors, so when we needed substantial body work done following an accident, we sent our car here. The repair was done beautifully and only took a couple of weeks (including delays in parts arriving because of snowstorms). Both Peter and his crew were patient in answering my questions re: insurance and the damage, and didn't mind that I called 1-2x/week to check on the progress (since we don't have rental coverage and wanted to know if we needed to plan alternate transportation for some upcoming trips). Peter quoted me $200 less than a garage in Brookline quoted me, and $550 less than the insurance company had estimated. Peter's was recommended to me by a garage/gas station that I live by in JP, because they're one of the only garages that can do paint jobs in-house. I have been to Peter's Auto Body three different times throughout the past couple of years for repair work. I have always been very impressed with the service. First off, at Peter's, I have consistently been quoted at least $200-400 dollars less than any other auto body shop I've gone to in the Boston area. Peter and his son are extremely helpful, and do an excellent job. I once went in because my sun roof was leaking water. They took my car for an hour, and they never even charged me to fix it. I went to Peter's Auto Body based on the recommendation of my auto mechanic. Boy, an I ever grateful! They were simply wonderful from start to finish. I had a minor run-in with some black ice that resulted in bumper damage to my beloved car. I called them and was told to simply drop by and they'd assess the damage. Peter (the younger) looked my car over and was able to immediately look up all the parts and give me an EXTREMELY reasonable estimate. The parts had to be ordered, but he called me within a few days to schedule the actual repair. I was able to leave my car there for a few hours on my day off and pick it up looking better than ever! Their attitude is friendly and professional, their prices amazing, turn around time was ideal, and their work is high-quality. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Peter's. When I started commuting to Waltham, I knew that an accident was inevitable. You can't spend as much time as I do in a car multi-tasking without escaping collision. So a few weeks ago, I'm simultaneously adjusting my breakfast sandwich and entering the on-ramp to I-93 when I plow into the back of a lovely Volvo. Fortunately the sandwich was salvaged. The front of my car was not. I found Peter's through Yelp and read the glowing review. I dropped my car off one morning and Peter Senior attended to me. Right away I got good vibes and I knew I was going to be well-taken care of. I anticipated having to be in touch with Peter's as the haggled their way through the insurance adjustment, but all was quiet. In fact, they finished my car earlier than I planned and all I had to do was sign on the dotted line that the insurance company could pay them. When I picked up the car, I had the pleasure of meeting Peter Junior, who is also apparently as nice a guy as his father. If I had known that it was so painless to deal with car accidents, I would have had a few earlier. Now, about their work. Let's just say that the front end of my car looks so good that I'm now hoping someone will rear-end me so that I can have Peter's to the back-end, too. The whole thing looks fantastic and you can tell that they cut no corners. In fact, this is just how awesome these guys are: I had to get my windshield replaced, and it occurred to me that I was going to lose my school parking pass that was affixed to my old windshield. But when I picked up the car, the sticker was on the new windshield in just the right place and it didn't even look like it had been touched! Same with my inspection sticker and FastLane transponder. Had my second stint with Peter's Autobody in Jamaica Plain (there is another Peter's in Dorchester -- drive or run as fast as you can from that shop!) Have nothing but praise for them. Professional, fair, quality work, and just a delight to work with. And they are honest. Works for you but also does not screw the insurance companies like a lot of the other places. It is run by two Peters -- the younger and the older. Let me take the car for the weekend before it was finished because I needed it. Then when I brought it back, Peter the elder drove me home. snowmageddon is in progress, as you fellow beantowners may know. i just got back from peter's and enterprise (their review will follow soon). (these are related comments.) suffice it to say that my plight has not been an individual one, because as you may know (or hopefully don't), the auto rental shops have been sold out days in advance with skyrocketing prices (i think a compact car at enterprise is starting at 70 a day right now, due to ridiculous demand). i am happy to say that both peter, and his son, peter, are great, honest, friendly folks who give free estimates and repair as promised -- both times, very close to if not exactly the estimate. and since JP isn't so far from where i live in somerville, it's totally worth the hike. peter also fixed up (buffed) a couple side door scratches at no additional charge, which was really sweet of him. in additional to all the rave reviews you can see here, i was also recommended to go to peter's through my friend deb, who lives just a couple blocks from the auto body. consistent, great work, at very reasonable rates. good stuff. glad to have found a reliable boston-area body shop! now, i'm going to hope that i don't have to use a body shop ever again, but time will tell... read more

I can't say enough terrific things about my experience with Peter's Auto Body. As the previous reviewer mentioned, no one's exactly excited to deal with having their car repaired after an accident, but Peter and his son made the experience remarkably easy and pleasant. They were incredibly knowledgeable and reassured me that they would take of everything, from dealing with the insurance company to interfacing with my rental car company, which they did. They were so attentive and eager to help - I can't remember the last time I had such terrific service. My car looks impeccable - better than brand new. All the good reviews are spot-on. Peter Jr. is great to deal with, being both very pleasant and a superb conversationalist, too! I had to replace the fender guard on my Toyota Matrix. While it took more time than anticipated to get the part in, and I had to keep calling to remind him to follow up on it, when the part did come in, the cost of $118 seemed fair (granted, I've never had to replace a plastic fender guard before, and if I can manage to not run over any more rocks in this low-slung car, I won't again). The work was done fast. I will definitely patronize Peter's Auto Body again, the next time (hopefully not anytime soon). I pull a boneheaded driving move. read more

Definitely would recommend this place to anyone! It's no surprise that they have been around for a long time and have a great business! The work was good, the price was good and the customer service was even better. Peter and Peter, Jr. were so helpful. My car door was dented and the whole side needed to be replaced. They quoted me almost $400 less then other auto body shops in the area. They worked with me in getting the work done fast because I couldn't afford the rental car for more then 3 days. About an hour after I left I found that I couldn't open my door from the inside, so I called Peter. He had no problem with me coming right back down and took a look. I was amazed with the work Peter's Auto Body did on my car. I got into a 5m bumper to bumper with an SUV, my hood was out of place and my bumper looked all scratched up. Fantastic, fair and ultra-honest. Peter is a good, decent gentleman who puts himself in your shoes when he looks at a car. He is not that old, but he is old school. For example, if you have a clunker, he takes that into account and tries to do something on a budget. If it is a new, real nice car, he tells you to get it to look right he really needs to buy the expensive part. Treat him well and he will treat you well. Be an idiot, I cannot guarantee it! I found Peter through all the great reviews. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. I have a 2007 mercedes and I got quotes of around $500-$600 to fix side and rear bumper damage. Peter did a beautiful job for $300 and fixed a screw that came loose on the front panel for free. He did the work over the Columbus Day weekend and had it ready as promised. I initially spoke to Senior and asked him to give me the price, not estimate, for both replacing my Honda Accord front bumper or repairing it. I'm a senior also and didn't feel comfortable when searching out repair shops. I was quoted both prices and since I want my car always looking the best it can but cost was a factor I decided to have the bumper replaced with an off-market bumper and was assured they would do a good job. I had my friend follow me for the ride home even though I was offered a ride. I didn't feel right putting them out. I then dealt with the son. When I picked up the car, they had done a great job but there was a spot that needed buffing. I needed the car so I told Peter I'd bring it in again. When I did, I meanwhile damaged in the underside of the new bumper. I asked for some touch-up paint so I could fix it but was told they'd take care of it. Senior drove me home and when it was time, picked me up again. The car looked great again and I was extremely happy and appreciative. They had sprayed the whole front area again. They did a wonderful job and provided super service. read more
