Chris runs an honest business, is hard working, prices jobs much cheaper than the others, and does better work. His equipment is top of the line. When doing our job He shared the camera views, explained the most likely problem as well as other potential issues that we may run into, while giving me an estimate of the costs for each stage that may or may not need to be addressed. Better then that, He also took the time to share with me at each stage if other issues were in play. Thankfully only the primary issue was all that needed his attention. Chris came out today and seems to have done a good job at a decent price. His interpersonal skills, however, were unprofessional, to say the least. Chris had provided a free estimate, which we were very grateful for, but he did not put the estimate into writing. Given that this job cost several thousand dollars, we asked that he write out the terms of the agreement, as accountability on both sides. Chris instead spent about twenty minutes complaining to my mom that in his thirty years of business, no one has ever made such a request of him. He also kept referring to our business arrangement as him "helping us out," which we felt was very odd, because this is a transaction, not a favor between friends. It was also very odd that Chris threatened to leave without completing the job, because he felt so offended by our request for a written contract. I had a terrible drain backup in my kitchen sink. Chris came out after hours and saved the day. He first tried to snake the line, running about 75' of snake through the line. Nothing. Guess what that cost me?? NOTHING. Chris wouldn't charge me, because it didn't work! Even though it was after regular hours, cold and dark!! The drain pipes needed to be hydro flushed. Boo.....well, Chris gave me an unbelievable deal, then climbed right back up on the roof (due to my clean out being under the kitchen sink, he had to access the drain line from the roof vent) and fired up the hydro flush. It took a solid 30 minutes to clean the pipes, but once they were cleared, it took only a few seconds for the water and gunk to drain away!!! I had a nasty main sewer blockage on a Sunday morning (of course it would be Sunday!). In a panic, I called Chris' Rooter. Randy from CR showed up at my home less than 90 minutes after my call. He cleared my drain and ran a camera through the pipe at no extra charge. He showed me what was causing my blockage on the camera monitor and suggested it probably should be repaired in the not-too-distant future and gave me an estimate. We bought a house with a known long-standing drainage and flooding problem, and found out how bad it was only two months into home ownership, when our sunken living room flooded. Several contractors estimated $20-$30K to rip out and replace the entire area drainage, without even knowing what or where the actual problem was. Chris spent over an hour with us explaining the most common problems, and providing substantial free expertise. He brought his equipment the next day and cleaned out our area drainage system, removing 30+ years of dirt, rocks, and roots. He also pinpointed the real problem: a redwood root that completely crushed the drain pipe. He even ran through our sewer pipe as a bonus and found where the original landscapers put a hole in the pipe to plant a bush that was slowly clogging it. Thanks to his camera diagnostics, we could see the problems clearly. We can make some of the fixes ourselves and are ultimately spending a few thousand, rather than replacing the entire system AND eventually having the sewer clog (yuck!). We will absolutely be hiring him to come back and do regular maintenance so our drainage doesn't get full of roots again. I highly recommend him - he has the tools and the expertise to find the problem areas so you aren't flying blind trying to fix things, and he is great at showing and explaining what happened so we can avoid repeating the mistakes the prior homeowner made. Don't use them. The guys are slick,smooth with that drain camera. If you are not knowledgeable in plumbing they use smooth scare tactics to scare you. Get a second opinion, read the contract thoroughly and ask Questions. They don't like you to ask intelligent question and start getting mad, then tell you they doing you a favor. SERVICE PURCHASER BEWARE (beware of all plumbers in general they have a good rating, lower rating than use car salesmen --it's all about money to them.) 3 hours work $3,000. -lawyers don't charge much, Go figure. There a few plumbers that will do the job for one fourth of what these guys charge and guarantee it..
