I miss Acme markets. The REAL Acme Markets (Lancaster Brand Meats, Grt staffs, Et al.), more than these Safeway's with a SIGNATURE GUARANTEED mask. But Safeway's are great for some things. And both the Acme & Safeway-branded store are great grocers, with Acme making the grade for their late hours, great staff & deli counter. I have two post graduate degrees and two professional certifications. But that didn't stop me from being tripped up at Acme. I thought that my loyalty card was associated with my phone number... which is a brilliant idea. But when I went to purchase a watermelon today, the full price and not the sale price on the item in the store didn't appear. The self check-out lady came to my rescue. Apparently the sale prices don't work unless you start shopping in the app. To make things more confusing (and aggravating because I had to do this at the checkout), you have to note if you are shopping as a pick up customer or an in store customer. Folks, let see if we can make this any more idiotic. Now that I know the loyalty card doesn't work, I recommend going to Aldi for groceries. read more

Knowing I was going to be in the area and staying in a hotel for over a week. I wanted to get a few things to tide me over. I figured as much that this would be the best place to get these items than going to the national chain. At the time of my visit they were milling the parking lot in preparation of repaving it. That was not fun to drive over and it was not fun to figure out a parking space. Walking across it was just as bad, worse for the employees tasked with retrieving the carts and returning them to the store. Inside I just kind of wondered around. I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I just came to browse and grab whatever I wanted. I knew I wasn't going to do a full grocery order, but I was going to buy what I needed to survive a week in a hotel room. It was easy to shop in here when I had no set list. I wasn't in a hurry. I was just browsing and picking items I wanted to snack on. Selection was plentiful, and the options were great. Making my way around the store, killing time, and then to the checkouts. The only thing I was upset about was that there were no anvils for purchase. My expectations were shattered. read more

This is our go to ACME for food quality and prices. The pickup service is excellent. The store is navigable and there are usually good meat prices. The deli subs are skimpy on the meat or tuna but the rolls are good. Employees are pleasant and helpful. read more

There is thick competition for supermarkets in the area, probably half dozen all within a 2 mile radius and they all want your business. First and foremost, the employees and managers I have spoken with have all been great contributors to a positive customer experience. They are on their game by having sufficient staffing when busy and open later than most in the area by running the store till midnight. From the cart chasers asking to take your cart up as they walk by in the parking lot to the manger seeing me searching endlessly to offer a quick location of what has eluded me. Recently Krogers has acquired Albertsons who is the operator of Acme markets. At first I was saddened that Acme was going to lose its association with Philadelphia both the city and the football team utilizing Hatfield meats in Lancaster brand meats, both of which have my confidence in quality and consistency. Fully expecting the Kroger product line to overtake Acme's line. I was surprised to see that they did not do that in this case at least as of yet. I'm giving five stars because this is my favorite place to shop. However, I could deduct the star for the consistency of quality produce as other supermarkets in the area seem to have better results, so if they could work on Bringing in or managing higher quality produce. This could be the all around Champion in every category for supermarkets but I thank the employees doing a great job and making grocery shopping a satisfying and enjoyable experience. Though more expensive than other local grocery stores, Acme is worth it if your looking for sheer wealth of options for every item on your list, or if your looking for something unusual! The two Specific things to recommend are the ready cooked baked chickens and the peanut butter icing cupcakes from the bakery! Both sell out super quickly so consider yourself blessed whenever you find these goodies! The Lemon Pepper baked chicken in particular is phenomenal, but all their birds are soooo juicy and delicious!!! Highly recommend! read more

Went to buy some seafood and some steaks went to the counter yesterday which was Sunday couldn't get waited on. I guess the seafood and meat section were closed. One fella stood in the corner like a bump on a log never responded didn't say they were closed. I've been shopping at this store sporadica for the past year, hoping each time I shop the store will do the right thing by its customer. Apparently the store management could care less about its customers good health; a several occasions I have pointed out to the store management and one time to the district manager that several of the processed greens (spinach, kale, etc) are displayed out of refrigeration dispute the fact that the bag clearly states by the packer that these items must be "refrigerated ". With listeria, e-Coli, and other disease agents having caused multi-state foodborne illnesses in the past. Where is the state health dept? I don't see this negligence in any other supermarket I have shopped in. Beware what else may be going on in this store unseen to the customer. I continue to hope that this store will once again consider the health of its customer as their number 1 priority. read more

I have recently begun finding the "gems" in our local Acme. One of my favorite things about it is their meat department and seafood. Customer service there is excellent...requests are cheerfully done! The quality is excellent. The store is clean and well organized. Their specials are good. In some respects, their prices are higher than some other markets, but the selection of items they carry make up for that, in my opinion. read more

This is a nice grocery store. The staff are always friendly, the sushi and prepared foods are good, and the meat section is good. They have gas rewards, but no store card is required to get their sales, which is great for out of town visitors to the beaches. My biggest complaint is that they always seem to be running out of things--or at least that their shelves are not stocked and there is nobody available to ask to check in the back. I know sometimes during the summer, grocery stores here get swamped and it's impossible to keep up with the demand, but this complaint holds true in the off season as well. It's annoying when you make a trip to the grocery store to buy milk, but they don't have any milk for sale (on a normal sunny day with no weather related events). Other times the milk that is there has a sell-by of the same day. Cheese, popcorn, ice cream, broccoli... these are all things that have been "sold out" for me. Then there's the eggs: today it was almost impossible to find eggs that weren't cracked. Last week I checked and thought they were fine, but noticed one was cracked on the bottom when I got home. In all, it's a nice grocery store, and I will continue to shop here because it's closest for me. But it's best to have realistic expectations that you might not be able to get everything you set out for. read more

Bought groceries from here and found the produce to be bad. Bought cherries that were just being put out by a rude worker. Got home and found at least half were rotten. Tried to return and go serious attitude from the manger. We spend a lot of money on groceries. Funny how they are nice to take your money but completely nasty when you have a legitimate return. I was quite surprised with all the high reviews! This was one of the worst Acmes I've ever been to. The store was very dirty, There was dirt in a lot of the areas of the store. The store was larger than the one near me, but that does not mean a great selection. Very small selection of fruits, and produce. I could barely buy anything. Some of the food was old, and spoiled It is easy to navigate, but it was very very expensive. Unlike the Acme near me in Milltown. The extra star is just for the very friendly staff. They were able to help me, and to find where everything was. Other than that, I'm only coming here once. Especially, since I'm in Rehoboth on vacation, and there are other grocery stores to try out. read more

This is a large supermarket on Route 1 and depending on your route into Rehoboth/Dewey, you may not notice it. But it is well worth the stop. Their prices are a bit better than the Safeway or Weis that are closer in. It's a great place to do the initial shopping for your beach house rental. They have a bit of everything you need (including beach gear). The place is large, well-organized, and clean. There is some prepared food (fried chicken is the best) and a Lancaster meat market. Being on Route 1, it is subject to the heavy traffic patterns in Rehoboth. Avoid it on Friday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings when new tourists arrive. This Acme store is not customer access friendly. The management uses display shelves in all of the isles except the freezer isle. How do you expect customers to not be upset when there is not enough room for 2 carts to pass each other. I would appreciate if management would take into consideration that your customers do not enjoy banging into these or trying to move the heavy ones to reach an item behind the display unit. read more

Sea food is awesome. We tried the Weis and the Food Lions in Lewes and Acme by far is the better place to shop! Every year we do family seafood night with the kids while at the shore and This Acme had a great selection ! Enjoy! read more

Very clean and organized. I usually get the grilled chicken for lunch when I am working up there. For those of you that don't know it they have fried and grilled chicken by the deli. They say grilled but it is actually baked in a convection oven but it's a healthy alternative if you get the split breasts and don't eat the skin. I love it. read more
