If you hear someone walking down Baltimore Ave in Rehoboth Beach muttering "oh my god... oh my god..." repeatedly, don't worry - it's just me eating my Italian sub from Frank & Louie's. Frank & Louie's isn't just a deli. It's an institution of culinary joy. We had the Italian and the eggplant cutlet subs, and each bite felt like being hugged by Nonna herself. The bread? Perfection. The meats? Sliced so thin they'd blow away in a summer breeze. The freshness of everything? Off the charts. Honestly, I'm still thinking about my next order, and I haven't even finished digesting this one. Plus, you're greeted by Robin up front, who radiates kindness and world-class service, while Frank and Louie are in the back creating sandwich masterpieces like two culinary Michelangelos. Pro tip: CALL AHEAD. Call a day ahead. Call from your childhood if you have to. Just get your order in. Worth. Every. Single. Bite.

Finally got to the newly renovated Pazzo Italiano in Rehoboth Beach (58 Baltimore street). Wonderful selection of fine Italian foods and made to order sandwiches, in house made dinners to go, fresh pasta and cheeses and of course the famous butter cakes!!! Friendly, knowledgeable service. Go get you some Italian love!

My husband and I travel down to Rehoboth every year for our wedding anniversary and had to check this place out - specifically for their butter cakes that we had heard so much about. Amazing service with a smile - they are all wonderful people and so friendly. And the butter cakes? Out of this world! We bought a few expecting to eat one together and bring the rest back to NJ for family to try. We ended up eating them all and going back to Frank & Louie's the next day for some more to bring back home. What a delicious treat and a wonderful family run business! We will always make sure to stop at Frank & Louie's when we're in the area.

We picked up two sandwiches for lunch for the first time ....along with a cannoli. If you are in Rehoboth ...DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP. Everything was very tasty , fresh and perfectly prepared. Never had a better cannoli. The butter cake is also unbelievable. Never recall having a cake like that but it was so delicious. We will definitely make this a lunch must every time we come to the beach. All carry out but they do have some off street outdoor seating. This place seems to very popular ( with good reason) so there may be a wait for your order. IT IS WORTH THE WAIT -BELIEVE ME.

How dumb are we... here we are thinking that NYC had the best Italian sandwiches. And we almost... almost, didn't get a chance to eat here, since we were passing through and pressed for time (and they were backed up by like 30 minutes). But somehow... somehow we managed to make it work. And the result: Simply the best Italian sandwiches we've EVER had. Like EVER... NYC who? Don't miss it!

Family operated business. It was so lovely to chat with Louie and his wife to learn that the baked goods are all made on premise by the family. Unless you have a large appetite, I recommend one sandwich to share for two so that you can leave LOTS of room for desserts. First, the sandwiches. We'll stuffed with quality deli meats cut thin, on a delicious ciabatta roll. Every sandwich we ordered was absolutely delicious. Now for desserts. I didn't get pictures of everything but I think the cannoli is the BEST I have ever had. The cannoli shell was fresh and crunchy and the filling was not too sweet. We also had the eclairs and a cherry turnover, also excellent. Sorry I'm bad with remembering names... Louie's wife (Robin?) wanted us to try the butter cakes and threw in 2 for no charge into our order. I later learned from someone else in my party that she also threw in a couple drinks for no charge. I can off season (mid-April) - a perfect time so it's not too hectic. We were able to order when we walked up. Based on the other reviews I can imagine how busy it must get in peak season, so we'll be sure to take the tips to call in a day ahead for orders during the summer. Wonderful family serving excellent food! Love love love.

C&C Special (#2)

Searching for an Italian Sub in Rehoboth and this spot came up. Decided to walk up around 11:45 on a Friday to place my order. The kind gentleman let me know that they are currently at a 1:15 pickup time. I was surprised but also intrigued (and he presented it in such a positive manner I was fine with it). They are that busy/popular that you should place your order a bit in advance. Ok, I had a few things to do so I said "I'll be back." Ordered the C&C Special (#2) and Sal's Italian (#3). Nice contrast between the two given the Special has fresh Mozz and the Italian has super sharp provolone. Bread was that perfect Italian with the soft interior and just right (not too crunchy) exterior. Both were excellent and hard to choose the best one. I called to let them know I was running a little late due to traffic and the lady I spoke to was as nice as can be. She thought I used some choice words to describe the traffic and we had a good laugh about that. Pick up was quick and my subs were ready when I arrived. Another positive, I remember offering to pay when I ordered given the amount of time to pick up but they said you can pay when you pick up (which usually doesn't happen with most places.) I saw they have homemade pies, pastries and cookies available. I shared this was my first time trying the spot and got a really positive response (again they know how to engage their customers.) Also, got a complimentary piece of Butter Cake which was amazing! Pick up only for now and also noticed they have outside seating. Can't believe we've been out here so many times and just now discovering this gem!

A perfect raspberry tart and Pizzelles!

I can not sing their praises enough! Ever since I've discovered butter cakes, Frank and Louie's has been my goto for delicious baked goods whenever we're in town. Last weekend while in the Holiday spirit, I was craving pie! Saw that F&L was open for 15 more minutes, booked to the ordering window and saw Robin's smiling face to greet me. She remembered me by name which warmed my heart because she must meet thousands of customers a year! I asked about pie and all that was left was a lemon pie (which I love but hubby does not) so instead she offered me a Raspberry tart. Raspberry is typically not my first choice but I trusted and she did not steer me wrong!! OMG I intended on rationing it out for 2 servings and failed miserably. It was perfectly buttery, with the right balance of sweet vs tart and I determined I could eat it everyday! Hubby got one bite and that was it, I wasn't sharing. Because she's so sweet, Robin even threw in some wonderful Pizzelles because "they didn't have the pie I wanted" but no apologies needed. That raspberry tart more than delivered and F&Ls has a customer for life!

This place is very clean with some cool caricatures of celebs on the walls. The latkes are massive and perfect in every way. The matzo ball soup is simply the best. It has a classic huge matzo ball in a delicious savory chicken stock. This would be enough but you can get the "mish mash" which includes white chicken meat and noodles - yum. The salads are all fresh and well done. The tuna and egg salads are my my favorites. All the sandwiches are of a reasonable size but you can upsize for a price. They offer fine deli quality corned beef, pastrami and home style roasted turkey all of which are phenomenal. You can't go out the door without taking some dessert and/or cookie on the way out either!

The young lady behind counter took my order and then looked back to the kitchen and apologized to the person there. I seemed strange, so I asked if they were closing. She stated they close at 6p. In the end, it was decent food but nothing special. Probably not coming back any time soon. Word of advice to the owner....employees shouldn't feel customers are an "inconvenience". We ordered our food for delivery. We are visiting from St Augustine FL and might be our last time…read more Someone suggested we try out this Deli. Service was to the T. Our subs were made according to how we wanted them. The bread is fresh. The kind of bread we miss down south and which we got used to for living in Upstate NY for more than 40 years. We cannot say anything about the ambiance since we had our order delivered. They are generous with the meat for all our subs. My husband couldn't wait to have the photo taken of his 12" sub. This place is definitely worth trying out if you are looking for some delicious deli subs or a must return to place if you are in the area. Support local!

I ordered a turkey breast and my partner the turkey stuffer (Thanksgiving in a sandwich)…read more The good news is that there is plenty of meat in the huge sandwich they call a "small," and my partner said the insides of the stuffer were good. The bad news is that the bread, although it appears to be fresh, is thick, tasteless and hard. I ate half of my sandwich, chewing and tearing at the bread. I asked for extra condiments (mustard and vinegar), but the bread remained hard and overly-chewy. For the second half, I ate the insides of the sandwich (turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion and sweet peppers) and threw the bread away. All of it. My partner took half of their sandwich to-go and plans to skip the bread when they finish it later. A sub shop should have excellent bread. Or at least decent bread. This is neither. I would give the place 4 - or even 5 - stars for the nice size sandwich, but the bread was really a problem for me. The place is clean and comfortable. There's a soda dispenser with free refills.
