Had the job done 2 weeks ago and it came out perfect. My old asphalt was crumbled and cracked. I had bids from 4 companies which were way over then what I got from Sunny. Acme asphalt was recommend to me by my friend Ernie who had a parking lot done at his truck stop. I personally went down to look at the job they did for my friend. I was told to seal coat it after March to keep maintained and kept smooth. When they were doing the job few people even stopped by to get estimates. The workers are polite and treat you like there friend. I will definitely recommend them to any personal homeowner. read more

We had a terrible experience with Acme Paving & Seal Coating Inc. (Sunny, his father, and brother) and strongly advise looking elsewhere. They offer to beat any estimate, but you get exactly what you pay for: a rushed, low-quality, highly unprofessional job. They left our project unfinished and have completely ignored requests for compensation to fix their errors. Here is a summary of the major issues with this company: 1. Total Incompetence in Grading & Drainage They graded our driveway so poorly that it leaves a massive puddle every time it rains. They used zero tools or processes to check their work--they just wing it. When they arrived, they claimed they couldn't drain water toward our established drain because it was "higher" than the garage. I checked it myself with a laser level; it was significantly lower. At one point, the father literally told me, "water is going to go where it's going to go"--an asinine statement for a paving contractor. Standing water ruins asphalt. While reputable contractors spend a full day on grading and prep, Acme rushed the entire project in just 4 hours. 2. Awful Surface Prep Parts of our ground were soft. Instead of excavating and re-compacting the base, Acme simply dumped asphalt right on top of it. They claimed no one would take the time to fix soft ground that deep. Multiple reputable contractors have since confirmed this is completely false, and that these areas are now guaranteed to sink and crack prematurely because of Acme's shortcuts. 3. Blatant Misinformation on Sealing They claimed they could seal the fresh asphalt the exact same day using a "commercial product." This sounded suspect, so I pressed for details. They finally admitted they use Armoseal A-100 HD. I called the manufacturer directly, and they confirmed you must wait a minimum of 90 days for the sealer to be effective; sealing early violates the product warranty and can permanently damage the asphalt. Offering same-day sealing is pure incompetence or a grift to take your money faster. 4. Zero Respect for Property Their lack of basic professionalism was appalling. After they left, we found banana peels tossed into our landscaping, asphalt chunks strewn everywhere, a permanent large oil stain where their vehicles idled, and our downspout drain completely packed with asphalt debris. When they returned to "fix" their work, their Bobcat left black track marks all over our existing driveway. I caught this on video because they tried to deny the damage. 5. Unethical Business Practices After taking $10,000 for a "completed" project, they minimized my initial photos of the massive pooling, stating they'd look at it whenever it was convenient for them. After heavy pressure, they returned. Instead of actually fixing the grade, they just dug a deep, ugly rut into the fresh asphalt to divert water into another puddle. It looks horrible and doesn't solve the erosion risk. They have since ignored all requests for a partial refund so I can hire a real professional to fix this mess. Do not be fooled by their promises. They are running a rushed operation to do the absolute bare minimum in the shortest time possible. Check their 1-star reviews across platforms--the stories are all the same. These guys resurfaced my asphalt driveway last year and overall I've been happy with the price and the quality of the work. I have some caveats though. You can see a lot of variation in the gravel that results in some rough patches. They were keen to apply sealer immediately after the resurface job even though sealer shouldn't be applied for at least 6 months to allow the asphalt to off-gas and set. I strongly recommend you apply sealer within a year because this will help even out rough patches and keep the asphalt from breaking up. read more

Great family owned business that offered a reasonably priced solution for my fairly small driveway. It was very difficult to find an asphalt vendor willing to complete a smaller job, thus if that's your need give these guys a call. read more

Called to get a estimate from Acme and talked with Sunny and he came out promptly and gave me a estimate, decided to go ahead and use the company to take off my old asphalt and replace it with new asphalt. Explained what my expectations were, remove old asphalt and add 3 inches of gravel and 3 inches of asphalt. I went ahead and signed the agreement and made appointment for the job to be completed. They showed up on that day, there were three workers, Sunny his brother and dad. They started work right away the dad used the bobcat and started removing the old asphalt from the driveway. He seemed to be in a very big hurry, He scraped paint off the side of the house, bent my new post holders on the new fence. They continued to work putting the old asphalt into the back of the truck and spreading the new gravel and then spreading the new asphalt on top. They spilled oil on my new concrete work, There are may areas of the surface that are porous because because it was not compacted correctly. They seemed to be in a big hurry the whole time. The street in front of my house is a disaster, covered with oil spills everywhere and the neighbors are not happy, They pretty much left a mess. The dad who handled the majority of the equipment was very rude, grumpy and has major anger issues. All they seemed to care about was the money, I would not recommend this company to anyone, very poor service. read more

I am VERY happy with the work they did. Sunny came over and quickly provided a competitive quote to remove and replace my failed driveway surface. They showed up to do the work and one of the workers showed me that my driveway had already had a second layer of asphalt installed over the top of the first one. That of course is an add on, but the additional cost was fair. They were still done within the promised time frame. When they were finished Sunny showed me the work and provided advice how I can save money in the future on maintenance. I've already referred them to a friend around the corner. read more

I have advised Sunny in advance that I was posting this review, he could respond and potential customers can decide. I'm not going to engage in a back and forth. I first want to say that I like Sunny. He is pleasant to work with and gets back to me immediately.The older guy, not so much. I suspect cultural misogyny there. They paved my driveway June 2nd or 3rd last year. I wasn't pleased with the job to begin with but there was always a reason it couldn't be fixed.I pointed out a very visible footprint that would not have been fixed had I not pointed it out. They made a small attempt to fix it. I tried to fix it when I sealed the driveway but quite frankly I've never done that before and it shows. They also cracked my siding which I immediately showed my neighbor when he came to check out the work. I let both of those go. When I was pressure washing the driveway to put on the sealant,I noticed a hole that they missed. I took a picture and sent it to Sunny. He advised me asphalt should not be pressure washed. I told him I hoped I didn't ruin it and he assured me I didn't and eventually came to fix the hole. To clarify, I had not pressurised that area yet. Less six months later, I noticed grass and weeds coming up through the asphalt as well as moss. Sunny said that was normal and to just spray weedkiller on the driveway. I countered it was not normal but a sign of poorly prepared ground. In any case Sunny said he would stop by with weedkiller on his way to or from Canada. He showed up without any advance notice and I have no idea how long they had been there. I walked out barefoot in my pajamas and showed them the easiest to find weeds. They were along the edge which both said was normal. I don't know why if they sprayed effective weedkiller but I will concede that. Sunny said that if they were popping up away from the edges that would be a different matter. I told him that they were but I was cold and my phone was ringing and it was a call I had to take. I told him to send me the pictures of them removing the old driveway and putting down new gravel. I'm not sure if he had one of him spraying weedkiller. Later on I went out and found weeds coming through in areas not at the edges. I will send Sunny those pictures but I'm not expecting much. I was going to post them on here but I don't know how. If you do not know the VERY specific surface treatment that you're needing, you will get the cut rate product that isn't what you are asking for when pointing to your neighbor's house and saying "I would like my driveway to look nice like that". Sunny is very nice and like most service companies, he excels at the sales side of the job. Sunny came to my house the day I called him and his quote was a bit high, but after explaining my minimal experience and understanding of the materials, he dropped the quote from $700 to $600 just during my questioning of the amount, so I didn't see that as a red flag and decided to go with Sunny since he expressed that he could get my driveway done two days from that day. I believed that I was very explicit about describing the materials that I wanted to have used as I explained a video that I'd seen where someone was pumping super viscous material onto the asphalt and then squeegeeing and floating the material over the driveway to get a decently smooth finish. Sunny discussed with me the various products out there and said that he knew what I was looking for. He pointed to a neighbor's house that he claimed that he'd done a couple of years prior and it indeed looks awesome. I did not verify that he did this work, but their drive way looks great still. I have a root that runs under my driveway that is cracking it and Sunny expressed that no option other than cutting the root and removing and replacing the asphalt is available. I asked about "filling" the crack and then surfacing over that and was told that that was not an option. The day came for the work to be done and Sunny and his father and another worker arrived promptly and after a brief discussion about payment, the work was already underway and I had to triple-jump my way off of the drive way to get back into my garage, but I was anxious to see the work. The team proceeded to spray some light oil mixture onto the driveway and just push it to the edges of the drive with small push brooms. No effort was given to ensuring that anything close to an even coat was offered. The "brush strokes" were not floated off of the surface and large pools of the oil were left on the surface. I came back outside and asked about what I was seeing and Sunny assured me that this is what I asked for. I was frustrated and knew that a product/service like this isn't something that you just box up and send back, so I accepted that I'd been taken for $700 ($600 and tax) and went back into the house to work. They finished the job in approximately 5 minutes and were gone. I showed some photos to people that I know who would know better than I do and they explained that the product that was used was not a seal, but a "fog seal" and it is inadequate for what I was asking for and what any service provider would have applied to a residential drive. I texted Sunny and expressed that I was disappointed and wish that I knew the terminology for what I was asking for because it's obvious that this service was not what I was asking for and if what I am needing is not on his menu of offerings, he should have no-bid the project. He explained that this product will wash off in 3 months and proceeded to explain that this is not like laying new asphalt, so I should have expected this. He then said that he would come back immediately and re-apply a second coat. I asked him not to because if it's going to wash off in 3 months, then it's a waste of his time and his materials. He insisted that he will do it in order to make me happy. He indeed returned in 10 minutes and started applying a second coating... and when I came down to discuss the situation, his father went into the standard defense that they have been in business for 35 years and they know what they are doing, that the product they are using is a commercial-grade product and better than what you can get at Home Depot. Any explanation from my side comparing apples-to-oranges or viscous crude oil to distilled alcohol was talked over and I simply resolved myself that I have wasted $700 and now I understand more completely that unless you do it yourself and know precisely what you need, service providers will simply sell you what they need to sell you and I believe that Acme Paving & Seal Coating, Inc fits into that category when it comes to sealing coating or surface preparations of asphalt. Note that I cannot speak to their proficiency at installing NEW asphalt, so I hope that their strengths are with other aspects of their business. I have since established what it is that I need to do and 4 other asphalt vendors have concurred that this product was not what I needed and that I basically threw my money away and ACME was a bit aggressive in taking money for something like this and should have essentially told me that this is worthless for a driveway like mine. read more

I contacted Acme Paving & Sealcoating through their website to sealcoat our driveway. They responded within 24hrs and Sunny came out to look at our driveway. The estimate was reasonable. Because we did the sealcoat in the fall, Sunny was very good about keeping me up to date on the day they could come out pending dry weather. They did a great job and I would definitely use them again! read more

Worst paving job I have ever seen, 2000+ sq. ft. of bumps, humps, divots, uneven, and already the aggregate was coming apart after only 3 months. Emailed Sunny, won't do anything about it, says I should have had it seal coated, claims he said so, BS, I have the email where he said to seal coat after 3 years and every 3 years after that. Sealcoat a brand new driveway? I had a sealcoat company come out hoping that would help keep the aggregate from coming apart, they said it might help a little but the binder in sealcoat wouldn't fix my issue, the asphalt was laid to cold, no fix for that other than rip it and start over. So much for that theory! Already have weeds growing up through the blacktop for Gods sake! That's what I get for using the low bidder I guess. Buyer beware, these people did shabby work for me and won't stand behind it. I don't understand why others speak so highly, I did nothing to deserve this, didn't haggle, wasn't rude. Beats me. Should have gone with the higher bids from the companies with obviously better equipment and thereby professional skills than the bald tired beat up trucks and dinky paver that I witnessed, couldn't lay a level driveway if life depended on it with that thing. The limp handshake should have been my 1st clue. More than dis-appointed but cannot express my true feelings here out of decency. My guess is he underbid the job, his Pop was upset about that, the asphalt had to be transported too far and was laid too cold (Pop even commented that), so I ended up with a crap job that I had wished done for 20+ years but could never afford.
