Leavenworth is so fortunate to have a cobbler in town! The gentleman who works here has a talent we are quickly losing in America. He is tremendously skilled, and he does all the work by hand! I dropped off 3 pairs of shoes to be resoled or reheeled. He gave me a turn around in one week. They were done in 48 hours! Wow! He shined up all three pairs, and they look fantastic. The heels match perfectly - the hiking boots even have the same Vibram sole as the original. Highly recommend this local shop if you have shoes needing repair! It was well worth the $140 we paid for all three pairs. We couldn't replace even one pair for that price! read more

I don't know where to begin. I'm still in shock! I have gone there since the 90ties. I have respected him, was sad when he was sick, I have loved his workmanship and I have felt lucky that Leavenworth has him. Not today, today was very different. I asked him to make a couple of new holes in my purse strap. No one else was in the shop. He (rudely) spoke to me. He has a heavy accent so I didn't understand. I said "Pardon" a few times. And "I'm sorry what did you say" He said " you talk too much" when he suggested to cut of my strap. I just wanted to totally understand his plan. He (physically) pushed my hand away. One time he came around the counter and there was another 'push'. I was actually contemplating to call the police. Had I not gone there so many times before, over so many years, I probably would have. I respect his work, that's all. But I cannot go there anymore. (possibly that he's on Meds.) read more

I agree with the previous reviewer - even though it's been nearly 5 years since that review, I assume we dealt with the same man. I went in to see if he could repair a bag for me in which the leather strap had come undone. The tailor around the corner said she would be unable to do it based on the thickness of the leather. Upon going into the shop, the man (owner?) just stared me down. I lifted my bag onto the counter to ask if he could repair the strap; he looked the bag over for a few seconds, then took the bag and threw it on the ground behind him and started writing up a ticket, without saying a word to me. I asked 'I guess this means you can fix it?' and he nodded. I then asked him to confirm how much it would be before I committed, and he said it would be $10 and that it would be ready on Friday (I think I went in on a Wednesday). Okay, fair enough. Due to inclement weather, I didn't make it back in on Friday so I intended to go Monday, but before I got there, I received a phone call from the owner. He was essentially yelling into the phone, something completely indecipherable - so much to the point that my husband (as we had the call on speaker phone in the car) yelled back that he must have had the wrong number and started to hang up on him. I figured it was the owner and said 'is this about the bag?' to which he confirmed yes and so I said we were on our way to get it. When I got to the shop he showed me the repair and from what I can see, it looks to be in good order. He only takes cash though, which isn't posted from what I can see (though the register looks like it's from the 1920s) and I only had $9 on me, which he accepted. I gave him 3 stars as he fixed my bag in a timely fashion for a reasonable price. He gets 2 stars knocked down though due to the rudeness and lack of customer service. And cash only? It's 2017! We'll see how the bag holds up - I'll be sure to review again with any updates. read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS SHOP!!! I took my husband's dress blues shoe to have the sole fixed. At my first visit, the man was very unfriendly and I was worried that he might not do a good job. I picked up the shoe a few days later. It looked good and seems to be repaired properly. My husband wore the shoe two weeks later for the first time and it came apart again on one side. I took it back the next business day and the man again was very unfriendly and asked why I brought it back so much later and I explained that he just wore it the first time two days ago. He took the shoe and did not give me a slip for it to pick up as usual. When I returned today to pick up the shoe, he was VERY rude and asked me if we had another pair of shoes at home. I told him "No my husband only has one pair of these shoes". He told me that I was lying to him that this shoe had glue on it from some other shop, not his shop! I was shocked!!! First, I don't lie!!! Second, what would I gain by lying, getting another shoe repaired that cost $10 to fix??? I can afford $10!!!!!! I don't need to lie about that!!! He continued to yell at me as I took the shoe and left! He did a horrible job with glue now all the way up the side of the shoe! Now, my husband will have to purchase a new pair of dress blue shoes. For all those in the military, DO NOT GIVE THIS SHOP YOUR BUSINESS!!!! He does not deserve our money!!!! read more

I am very particular about my clothes and I recognize that skilled artisans are a dying breed. I was in Leavenworth on business, happened to have my shoes with me, and searched for a cobbler in the neighborhood. Frankly the bad reviews motivated me to investigate out of morbid curiosity. I think I understand what happened in the other reviews and I totally disagree with the judgements. This gentleman is not a teenager and does not speak English as well as I do. That said, when I asked him to clarify a question, he pulled out a piece of paper and wrote his answer to avoid confusion. I was sure to ask about the "cash only" issue and he politely replied that cash or check would work. As for the service - he completely re-soled a very nice pair of dress shoes for me and I could not be more impressed. They are like new again! I will gladly support this local business again and recommend (with appropriate expectation setting) him to friends and family. I decided to offer grace to this gentleman and the finished product was well worth the hurdles. read more
