We live in the Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh, which is about 1.5 miles from downtown. We thought that RALEIGH Deck & Screen Porch Builder would be a logical company to reach out to since we live in the township of RALEIGH. RALEIGH Deck & Screen Porch Builder "respectfully declined" our inquiry. Moreover, they were kind enough to explain why. Vic (the owner) told us that his company "can't risk being stopped with people jumping on our truck." He also told us that even "before all of this mess" homeowners near us refuse to keep their garage doors open. I feel like such a fool! Here I am, taking daily walks with my wife through the neighborhood and walking by multiple construction projects, having no idea what really goes on. I thought I knew the area well, but I should take the word of Vic, who once played softball nearby. Vic also explained that we "live by the biggest section 8 housing complex in North Carolina." I really appreciate this highly relevant piece of information as it directly pertains to my screened-in deck. Some might wonder why Raleigh Deck & Screen Porch Builder didn't simply and succinctly decline the work. I for one appreciate a detailed explanation as to why this company does not want to accept my money in exchange for its services. There were (3) separate jobs scheduled (deck, sunroom, flooring in sunroom). All of the work was completed before the projected date. Cons: 1. Building material options/offering on offer during the consultation period was limited. A) A 18/16 mesh screen was installed. We would've preferred a 20/20 mesh density to prevent gnats from entering the space. We had to re-install 20/20 mesh screens from another company at the cost of 1400.00. This was a missed talking point of discussion during the consultation phase in our view. B) The presented Trex board options for the deck was limited to 3 material choices. We would've preferred to see a larger variety of the deck colorway options (samples). The color sample provided for selection isn't as forgiving of foot traffic & surface debris as we would preferred. 2. The installation work was scheduled randomly. We received 'day of' calls to get the work completed. I think this translated into the work detail being rushed to meet the production schedule of other jobs. Some quality of the workmanship (finer details) went overlooked/lacking as a result. Ex. Gapped installation on the Trex boards primarily at corner edging in some instances (see close up pics).
