Martha is incredible! I will never go to another salon for a haircut again. She is great with all types of hair, listens and does exactly what you want, or you can seek advice from her years of professional experience. She makes you feel comfortable and it is always a good vibe and feeling when you leave. I used to hate getting my haircut, but now it is one of my favorite "errands" because of how I look and feel when I leave. She also does coloring and other services that I cannot speak on, but the clients getting their hair colored while I am there always seem happy with the results and consistent clients. Martha is an absolute hidden gem. I just moved to Santa Monica from New York City. I already have short hair and always have had bad experiences with people cutting my hair too short (don't we all!). I went to Martha and her haircut (no style) cause I was going to the gym later anyway, costs me $65!! Amazing deal. She believes in giving people a good rate but also allowing her to make a living. I respect that so much. Other salons I called wanted $95+ for a trim... Martha gave me a consultation where I showed her pictures and she totally listened to my requests and executed it perfectly. Came on a whim when I saw a deal posted out front- I needed a cut, highlights and a blow dry and Marta gave me a great price. The salon is really nice- light hardwood floors, clean and modern feeling. Marta was great to talk to and my hair came out amazing- really natural looking highlights and super healthy shine after she gave me a deep conditioning mask for free. My hair looks so sun kissed and healthy! Also love that she uses Aveda natural hair products so my hair doesn't feel damaged and the salon doesn't smell like chemicals at all. MARTHA IS THE BEST! After desperately needing a hair cut and blow dry, I came to try this place out based on the yelp reviews and I'm so glad I came here! Martha did exactly what I've been wanting for the last few years. She first washed my hair and proceeded to cut it. She layered it then said she would blow dry it next and see what areas needed volume. I wasn't sure what she meant at first. After blow drying it, she used a different kind of scissor, kind of like a blade but different and OH MY GOD! I LOVED that she did that! My hair hasn't felt this good and looked this nice in years! I went to see Martha after a stylist at a popular hair salon ruined my hair. Martha was able to take me in right away and immediately got to work on my very uneven cut and lightening got bad color. Martha did an amazing job -not only did she fix the bad color but she was able to put in a beautiful color that really complimented me. Her cut is amazing too. We had to cut off a good chunk of hair but Marhta gave me an awesome cut with nice flowy layers. Martha and the other girls are awesome!! I have been to the best salons in LA and NY and no stylist had ever been as spot on and consistent with my color, highlights, cut, and weekly blow drys as Martha. My neighbor recommended this salon after DNA Hair Salon moved a mile away (no notice to long time customers like me). I'm writing this review after my second visit. First visit was 6 months ago when I got hair cut and blonde highlights from Martha -- which were brilliant. This salon only uses products not tested on animals -- perfect for vegans -- but I didn't understand why my highlights were so dark at first. I still don't understand it but my hair gradually lightened, after a few shampoos,to the subtle sun-kissed look I was expecting. My second visit was for hair cut only and Martha again did a masterful job. She cut EXACTLY as much off my long hair as I asked so I'm a very happy customer. One more thing -- during my first visit I asked Martha if I could bring my leashed, well-behaved, quiet dog with me next time and she gave an enthusiast yes! I didn't bring my dog along this time because space is tight there and, as cute as my dog is, it might be too cramped and inconsiderate to other customers (especially if the customer is allergic to or afraid of dogs). Martha, the owner, did an absolutely amazing job cutting full front bangs as well as doing a much needed trim to the rest of my hair.
