I was so exited to come back after dining here 5 years ago and having an awesome experience! Unfortunately, I left very disappointed this time around. There was a group of 5 of us and no one was impressed with their dinner. I was mainly embarrassed because I raved about the food based on my past experience! We ordered the calamari (delicious, best part of the meal), hummus (not as good as past) and the app sampler with tzatziki, hummus, baba ghanoush, etc. to start (sampler was good). I had the chicken souvlaki platter (chicken was VERY fatty), others ordered the snapper (just okay), the pasta Santorini (just okay), the gyro (just okay) and a Greek salad with chicken (which was good). Yummy delicious greek inspired food! To start, you get free warm pita bread with a feta cheese dip. I had the gyro platter and it was huge portion. I could only eat one of them. My favorite is the salad dressing for their house salad, its like a creamy sweet sauce. For appetizers we had the octupus and calamari. The octupus was a bit soupy in a sauce so a lot of the members of our group weren't a fan, they were expecting a grilled octupus. A great experience with good food! Our server, Brandon, was absolutely a gem! He was so understanding of having celiac - I had my chicken souvlaki come out on pita and he insisted on having it remade to come out plain. Usually I hate sending anything back because I feel "difficult", but he was so great about it and really cared. Top-notch service. Aside from that - the food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and the hookah was fun! We sat outside so we could have hookah and it was worth it! They also have buy one, get one on their margaritas & sangrias - which is a good deal, but the margaritas are pretty sugary and didn't taste like there was much else in it. The food was pretty good. We did the appetizer sampler of dips and they were all to die for! I love that they give a variety of vegetables to dip (if you ask) on top of the pita - a really good gluten free option. Came by for early dinner on Friday. It was not busy so we were seated right away. We started with stuffed mushrooms, came with four, they were pretty good. We also ordered a gyro platter and souvlaki platter, each came with Greek salad and Greek fries ( fries with feta on them). The salad was good, the fries not fond of the feta on French fries. The gyro meet was good the souvlaki was a bit hard to get off skewers. Overall it was good but will not be our go to Greek place. The food here is authentic Greek cuisine, and is quite tasty. The service is usually great, the food fresh, and restaurant clean. They have good drink specials (half off wine on Wednesdays, for example, and always BOGO sangrias - I love the sangrias!) Nice atmosphere, and located in the quaint Winthrop plaza. Every time I come here I'm greated right away by the hostess and sat promptly. If you go on a weekend night it may not be as quick though. This day I went to dinner with the family on a weeknight and got there in time to get a half off wine for their happy hour that lasts till 7. The waitress was very polite and quick to serve. My drink order came quickly and so did the Acropolis salad I ordered. It's salad with purple onions, tomatoes, a triangular piece of feta cheese with Gyro meat on top. Just had a nice meal, but when I went to pay part of the meal with $5.00 gift certificates, was told by manager that they didn't allow that. That a person had to only do 1 5.00 certificate per meal, It no where says that on the paid for gift certificate So really don't think that a restaurant should be rewarded for this. I just gave away 3 others to other customers so it saved the restaurant no money, all will be used. I have used Acropolis catering for my company at least once a week for the past three years. Out of the numerous times I have eaten here most of my experiences would be a five star rating. On catered orders, the food is always high quality and ready when it is supposed to be. They have a huge variety of salads that are filling and affordable. They always are willing to put any ingredients on the side and or add ingredients. They also have a wide variety of appetizers and variety of gluten free items for people with dietary constrictions. Whenever I call and speak to the chef they were always very accommodating for food allergies and even suggest replacements for any item. Everything above made this resturant one of my favorites as far as accommodating a variety of people. In person this resturant has a very fun atmosphere. Whenever a certain song comes on all. The staff gets together to dance and throw napkins into the air. It is a lot offun to take new people to the resturant because of this! Unfortunately, the last two times I went to the resturant in person I was very disappointed. We went here last night for a birthday celebration and the food came out cold and soggy. It was also was not cooked in accordance to the food allergies at my table. When we alerted the waitress she told us she would inform the manager but never did. We went here last night for a birthday celebration and even though it was mentioned twice we never had the birthday celebration I have seen on many occasions. If you want a lively fun place to go, then sit inside on a Saturday night and be prepared for Greek music, a belly dancer that is willing to teach you a few moves, dancing wait staff, flying napkins, and broken plates. Seems like a Greek party! I love the saganaki as it reminds me of my first Greek restaurant in Detroit's Greektown. The tirosalata is wonderfully tasty! My favorite dish is the Chicken Rhoades. Lots of flavor with chunks of artichoke and sun dried tomatoes. No matter what you order, there is lots of it to share or bring home for lunch. Well...I liked the food and the atmosphere. Yes, I would come here again for the Gyros. Those were so gosh darn good! Loads of Lamb meat and side salad was great! I love the bread that they bring out with the yogurt sauce. Awesome! I noticed though, that when someone has a birthday, they throw a TON of beverage napkins in the air....WHAT A WASTE! Here's a thought...instead of NAPKINS...how about confetti?? We went during happy hour and EVERY drink sold at the place was buy one get one; not just domestic beers or speciality cocktails!! Had dinner here tonight ordered the lentil soup which was good and also the vegetable wrap which was awful, being a Greek restaurant I would think that a veggie wrap would consist of your typical artichoke, eggplant, roasted red pepper etc. nope they might as well should have called it the brussel sprouts wrap bc that's all it was, an overload of brussel sprouts and one, yes, one cauliflower, the only 2 vegetable I hate. My wife had the chicken sandwich which was so dry, tough and no flavor. We use to love going to Acropolis, but this is the second time the food has been terrible. We won't be coming back. read more
