ATSP is as comforting g today as it was decades ago when I was a college student. We tried a few places in Delmar because we had an event there earlier and everyplace was too crowded or loud so I suggested ATSP. What a nice evening, great service, an awesome duo/ band performing ( Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson covers so that would definitely bring me back! ) and ofc great food. I wanted to love it because it's a good local bar, not fancy and you can roll up however to grab a bite and that's just wanted we needed after traveling. It was chill but the food didn't wow me. We were the only table in the "restaurant area" and the bar was filled so it seemed like we were forgot about. I had to call out to the waitress multiple times for drink refills. The menu is huge and has something for everyone and prices are really good! So it's great for a quick bite but just don't expect a lot and definitely don't be in a rush to get out. read more

Me and my mom are traveling through NY and stopped for lunch. Not busy at all at 1:30pm so the service was quick. We got the chicken cordon bleu egg rolls with honey mustard dipping sauce as an appetizer- so good! Then we split the rodeo burger (bbq sauce, onion ring, lettuce, cheese) - amazing!! The burger was huge too and came with steak fries and a pickle. The waitress was so sweet! We said we were going to split the burger and she served the burger split up into two trays with our own fries and pickles- really went the extra mile and it was very much appreciated! So I went for some wings. So this review is only on the wings and some other observations. First you can tell this place has a loyal following. They have a pretty sizable bar and you can tell local patrons have been using this place for a very long time. The staff was friendly and attentive, and even the owner came over and said hello. Now onto the menu. The menu was pretty basic bar, food, burgers, fries, and other types of stuff, but I wanted to hone in on the chicken wings which I've heard a lot about. There was not a lot of offerings when it came to sauces, but that's a good thing stick with what you know deliver exceptional product and focusing on what you're good at. So the chicken wings came out and they were perfectly cooked. They were crispy they had they had the right amount of heat and just a perfect amount of sauce. I Have to say, overall, if I would've rate them out of a ten, I would give them a solid 8.5. A couple points first, I don't know why restaurants don't give you ample carrots and celery with blue cheese. It's so cheap and just a few more pieces that would make such a big difference for me. Second point is the chicken wings were a little inconsistent when it came to their sizing and the meat on them. Almost like they're mixing very high-end meaty, wings with lesser meat wings. The price is in the ballpark of what most places give. Overall fantastic experience definitely worth a stop. read more

I always trust Yelp reviews, and the reviews of ATS were right on the mark. It was a neighborhood pub with a local feel but gastropub food quality. I was up at UAlbany for work last weekend and went there for wings, beer and baseball at dinnertime. Danny at the bar was hospitable and took great care of me. My combo of Bourbon BBQ and Garlic Parmesan wings was meaty and delicious. I washed it down with an order of delicious mozzarella sticks and a couple of Stellas. The next day I needed a place to go within walking distance of the athletic complex, and sure enough there I was "across the street." I stopped in for their Red Eye Burger, and boy was it delicious - fresh, juicy and delicious - a host of flavors that filled me up for my long afternoon of work. If I ever get back to the Capital Region I will definitely head back. read more

We previously had some great experiences here, but it took one to make us never order to go again. We previously tried some of the chicken sandwiches, wraps, and salads, which were all typical pub food. No frills. Unfortunately we chose a time when we had family over to order for about the third time. One salad with chicken had chicken that was plainly never cleaned up. The veins and grizzle were still on it. The second salad had a large black hair. If it all hadn't happened at once, one might pass it for a mistake... but unfortunately this just seemed careless. Last night my daughter and I went into Across the Street Pub for the first time after passing by the establishment many times whenever I visit her in college and we'd look for places to eat around her campus area. Biggest reason why was because it was past 9pm and they're listed on Yelp as closing at 11pm. Circumstances wound up giving us a pleasant dining experience! It was a Thursday night so plenty of seating in the dining area. The bar had a decent number of people and was lively. We sat at a booth and was accommodated by Karen, very sweet and friendly. Of the dishes we ordered, we really enjoyed the mozzarella sticks which we tried with their Melba sauce (a raspberry sauce!), their spinach & artichoke dip, their "Ultimate Pastrami" sandwich and finally their Oreo cake for dessert. It was a nice dining experience with friendly service and good food! I'm from NYC where you can find lots of places open til 4am if not 24/7. We've all lowered our expectations for service in the post-COVID Era. I travel every week and I am now pleasantly surprised when my food order is correct and absolutely amazed when the server learns my name. It's a real treat to go back to a restaurant a few weeks later and see some of the same staff still there. Even without these low expectations, Across the Street Pub is a real gem. You feel like you are walking on the set of Cheers. Danny and Lisa behind the bar are both great. Many bar/grill formats have dialed back their menu choices. AtSP has kept a broad selection so you will actually have some decisions to make. They have good beer and liquor selections, and the bartenders don't need to Google a recipe to mix a drink. If all that wasn't enough to bring you in, the cast of local patrons has serious entertainment value. Even though us out-of-towners feel welcome on the first visit, the repeat locals really add to the Cheers ambiance. If you are looking for good local eats on the west side of Albany, don't even think about going to the mall. Across the Street Bar is the place to get a drink, have some dinner, watch the game, and catch up on the local scoop. read more

Stopped in here on a Friday night and were able to get a table. Beer was cold and lots of selections. Fried pickles were great - spears not chips! Wings were good - I demand my wings to be hot and crispy. The Buffalo wrap was great, salad was fresh. Is Across the Street Pub four stars across the board? No. It is not. But that's okay. It's a neighborhood tavern. And I hold, as such, it only needs to do a couple of things really well to earn my repeat business. Because four stars means that not only will I return, but I'll be looking forward to my next visit. That said, I'll be sticking to the wings and the beer. The wings are excellent. In my original review, I said good things about the "not responsible" wings which are a step up in heat, but also a different flavor profile from the traditional hot wings. The traditional wings are also solid. Ordering them crispy and extra wet is never a bad idea. I still love the sauce. On this recent visit, I also got to try the orange ginger wings, which I did begrudgingly. But I have to admit I was a fan of those too and all the bright-hot ginger flavor they brought to the party. As far as taverns go, ATSP has an impressive tap list. We were drinking pitchers of Ithaca Flower Power, and that's always delicious. But they also had some Founders on tap, a beer from Druthers, and a few other notable selections. It is refreshing to see a tap list that goes beyond Sam Adams at a neighborhood joint. I was cautiously optimistic about the house-made skinny dippers, which were anything but skinny. They were potato skins, loaded with cheese and bacon. But they are skippable. As are the mozzarella sticks with melba sauce. The pizza program could be easily improved by buying dough from one of our local Italian bakeries, and even charging more money for a pie if needed. But it's really one of the weaker things on the menu. If you are compelled to get one, I'd suggest loading it with as many flavorful toppings as possible. Our pie with bacon, jalapeño peppers, and sausage was the tastiest of the bunch. Perhaps I'm a bit biased since I live in the neighborhood. But I'm thrilled to have a comfortable, classic Albany pub, to grab a decent beer and great basket of wings. It's crowded enough as it is, so perhaps I should be glad that more people don't love it. read more

Short review because quite frankly it's not worth much time. Food was OK. The service was incredibly slow. Couldn't get a refill on a soda. It was not even very crowded and there were several waitresses. I definitely will not be returning. On a positive note I thought their menu had a nice assortment of stuff. My husband had the sirloin sandwich with garlic butter sauce which was actually pretty good. Steak fries were good but the oil seemed a little old. Well, they are two for two with our visits and review of 5 Stars! Our waitress, Samantha was our server again. As pleasant and on top of service as before. I went with the pastrami Reuben and my wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. The bread/toasted just crisp, the meat(s) were on the nicely rare side. The sides, steak fries and macaroni salad were excellent!! Real Heinz ketchup, a must with fries! Beverages were on tap. Only slight issue were the nacho and salsa appetizer, chips are just so so and salsa the same. Would not order again. Ambiance was great (big screen TV) and warm decor. Poor service, a lack of accommodations, lack of cleanness, health code violations, and so much more. First, there was an ant swimming in my drink and luckily I had a clear glass or I wouldn't have even seen it. The waitress never took the drink off. There was also suppose to be a discount for paying with cash and waitress never took it off. We even got charged for extra dressing. Will never go here again!! Great spot for locals and visitors alike! We live less than 10 mins away and it's become a fast favorite. Trivia on Thursdays nights are so much fun!
