Was in the area for a conference at the NY State Capital and my hotel was by the airport. I looked up Tipsy Moose and had no expectations. I had the Black and Blue and it was tasty. My co-worker had the BBQ chickenm sandwich. She is particular and she enjoyed her sandwich. We both had fries and they were seasoned and the tight amount of crispy. Just shows you once again that you cannot judge a book by its cover. First after struggling to get into a parking spot on the right side of building, I walked around to the entrance. Parking in front would have meant backing out later directly into busy Old Loudon Road. "Rustic" looking outside and inside. But after eating the delicious food, I thought who cares about ambiance if the food is this good, actually terrific. Came for the good reviews on the food. Party of five, we selected a table on the porch where there was natural light. My view was of traffic passing by on Old Loudon Road. The inside is dark with only a few tables and a large bar with seating. Pluses were many: *Menu was well organized and full of intriguing choices. There was also a Specials Menu, wine menu, beer menu, and cocktail menu. *Server was experienced enough to take our order without writing it down. But, she did not come back to refill water glasses on warm day. *Food was prepared well and presented nicely! There is a "pic of a Moose" stamped on top of buns! *Generous portions *Reasonable prices for quality of food I ordered the Triple Sliders from the Specials Menu, and I was delighted with the explosion of flavorsI experienced. The Brisket Slider was tender and flavorful. The chicken one had a unique tasty sauce. The pulled pork slider had the tastiest caramelized onions on it. What a great find! Great food, very friendly staff! Must have a great reputation because it was really busy. We sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait for a table. This place has the reliable small cozy dive bar feel that you want. Great spot to catch a game with some drinks and classic pub food, plus poutine! Tipsy Moose is a small and cozy tavern serving up comfort foods and drinks to go with it. Sit at the bar with all the barrels or the dining area with sports playing on TV, or out on their patio. There is limited parking on the premises but always parking on the street if you don't mind some walking. The slightly rustic, lodge type of interior matches the friendly vibes as well as the interesting drink selections, including a side menu filled with signature coffee whiskey cocktails! Their tipsy cocktails and beer menu is also quite attractive. My group and I were able to walk in on a weekend evening for dinner with no wait and while it was packed inside, it still felt roomy enough. However, the surrounding tables were rowdy and the noise was reverberating. Our server was attentive though she did admit it was busy and the wait time for orders would take a bit longer than usual. The menu has plenty of starters that are highly shareable, poutine, salads, soups, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. Haven't had real poutine in ages so I decided to try their gravy fries with smoked cheese curds and added bacon. It was a good portion for the price ($15+) and came out hot on a cast iron skillet. The cheese curds weren't the type I expected and melted down too much, and did not have that squeaky cheese bite one would want in poutine. The gravy and the bacon worked well with the fries though! The smoked brisket French onion soup ($8+) was extremely hot when it first came out and I had to let it cool down before taking a spoonful. The cheese was so bubbly and delicious and the soup itself was flavorful (maybe a tad too salty), and had a balanced amount of onions and brisket. I would definitely get the soup again. Their barbecue pulled pork quesadilla ($15+) was also a bit too salty and meat was more tough than preferred. We also tried two of their mac and cheese selections, which came in a small cast iron pot each ($17+). The bacon chicken ranch mac and cheese was good but the jerk chicken mac and cheese was not as memorable (not much jerk flavor). Kudos for having a build-your-own mac and cheese option as well as a mac and cheese flight if you want to try more than one flavor. I'm glad to return to try other menu items at this tap and tavern and see what else catches my eye. While this visit wasn't spectacular, it also wasn't bad. The French onion soup is one thing I know I'd get over and over again. Oh, they also have a credit card transaction fee that you will see once you get the bill. Pay in cash if you mind said fee. read more

I recently visited Tipsy Moose and immediately fell in love with the vibes--cozy, warm, and inviting. I don't think I've ever been this excited to see a drinks menu before! Every cocktail was right up my alley: Moose Cookie Dough Coffee Whiskey, Moose Coffee Maple Whiskey... irresistible. For brunch, I went with the Wake Me Up. Normally, I'm hesitant about whiskey, but I loved this cocktail so much! My boyfriend had the Mocha Espresso Martini, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Then we tried the special cocktail--Pumpkin Spice--and it became both of our favorites. For brunch, we explored their "Tipsy Brunch" menu and both went for the Adirondack: smoked brisket and corned beef hash with jalapeños, onions, eggs, and toast. It was delicious! The staff was sweet, service quick, and the overall vibe is definitely a new favorite. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars just yet is that I like to visit a spot a few times to fully explore the menu. But one thing's for sure--I'll be back at the Tipsy Moose soon! read more

Great find after a long drive in. Sat outside and it was reasonable. Heaters helped. Could do without dumb people sitting in their car with their lights on glaring at us. But the food and drinks were great. Should have reviewed this when we were there two weeks ago. Cannot remember what I had but I liked it. Three others with me all had different things and everyone liked their meals. So at least four things there are good! Place was packed so that says something. Parking is tough. The tipsy moose is a great place to find draft beer, quality comfort food, and football on large TVs. Parking is tricky with a small lot. However the menu is no joke. Burgers, salads, poutine, lots of creative sauces and flavors. My burger, named after the restaurant, had tons of meat and an egg and was way too big to eat - total fork and knife job. Even Scooby or Shaggy couldn't have done better. Apparently the brisket is pretty good. Open late! read more

The food was not good and the brisket tasted very old and was as tough as leather with quite a bit of gristle. The oil used for the potatoes also tasted old. I went there for the first time In early July, to the Latham location, with a friend for dinner. He got the Buffalo chicken poutine and mild wings (two entrees), and I got the Yosemite Sam burger. The poutine was delicious! That's unexpected for me, as I'm not a fan of buffalo sauce in general, but this sauce was paprika-ish peppery and was not overpoweringly vinegary. The fries in the poutine and with the burger were fresh and cooked just right, with a crispy exterior and just the right thickness. I didn't try the wings, but heard they were ok, nothing special. The Yosemite Sam burger was delicious-- it could do with less sauce, but the ingredients were otherwise balanced, and it was just the right size. I enjoyed the onion rings and will be back to order those separately. The service was excellent: the food came on time, the waiters were solicitous, and handled our requests quickly. The only negative in the experience was the flies. There were *a lot* of flies inside the venue, presumably coming from the outside sitting area. I hate flies, so found it difficult to relax while trying to ensure they didn't land on my food or come near me. They should put up discretely placed fly traps or implement with some other deterrent. read more

Talking about the Latham location. I would give wings and Mac n cheese 5/10. They cheaper out on flavors and spices and cheese in the Mac n cheese. Yes... pretty low, on that. I mean why make Mac n cheese when you don't have the cheese. Flavoring was really low quality of the wings for the price paid. Ambience is okay. I did a take out, busy mom so couldn't enjoy the bar, but the place was packed for an early Friday evening. Hopefully they have good drinks. Will definitely try them for something else. Mac n cheese at Druther's is amazing with generous amounts of cheese. read more

Insane. Just insane. Everything about this place was a home run except the parking. The parking was a total disaster. Every single place around them had signs up warning you would get towed. The neighborhood hates them, but that's the price you pay for being the best I guess. Food and drinks were killer. Menu was killer. A Mac and cheese flight???? Cmon. How incredible. I stopped in here for dinner recently while in town on business. I wanted to be good, but it was very average. Sat at the bar took a while before I can get my food order in. I started with wings in the moonshine sauce. Half the wings were cold when they came out, they weren't very crispy and way too much sauce.
