I am so happy. I bought three stainless steel cuff bracelets off the Internet to give to my…read moredaughters as a gift for Valentine's Day. I wanted to make them special by getting them engraved with their names on each of the bracelets. I called Laser Mark's and I spoke to Jacob who let me know that the laser is flat and they may not be able to engrave a curved bracelet. However, he agreed to let me bring the bracelet cuffs into his shop so he could look at them to determine if it would be possible. He let me know that it may not work but he was willing to try engraving them. I told him that I was willing to risk it since the bracelets were inexpensive and I could purchase them again if it didn't turn out. I am so happy that I took the risk because the bracelets look so much better with the girls' names engraved on them and it makes the gifts more personal. Jacob took special care to put a black tape over the area on the bracelet that was to be engraved to test over the tape so I could see how the name would appear and give my approval before doing the actual engraving. It was a cool process and fun to participate in.

The guy that answered the phone was very sarcastic and passive aggressive. I had many questions and he did not seem to appreciate them. Me: "Do you do walk-ins?" Him: "No, we just do appointments. But I'm pretty occupied.... so..." Me: "I see. What hours are you available?" Him: "Well... when are you free?" We tried working out a time over the phone and he was pretty considerate about working around his personal schedule, but I wish he just gave me a general time frame to work with. I asked if 4 PM would be too late in the day to stop by and he responded "ummmm... yeah?". So sarcastic! After the strange phone call, I later texted him if it would take a while for the embroidery to finish. Would I just drop off my graduation stole and come back? or would it be done then and there? I had never gotten embroidery done before, so I had many questions. He responded "It will take less time than this conversation." How rude can you be? I'm not showing up to my appointment I scheduled with him.

The quality is also there, which is obviously very important. They helped me with printing copies of an annual report and also with signage for an event - both projects went over very well and received positive responses on the quality, design, and cost. What's also nice about PrintPapa is you can entirely customize and order your project through their website but you can also call and speak to them if you need further assistance. I've worked with print shop vendors who solely operate via email and it can be hard to speak with them over the phone, leading to a lot of tedious and unnecessary back and forth. PrintPapa is a terrific option for a local, affordable, and efficient print house.

We engaged Willow Glen Art & Frame to frame two large antique posters. During the art drop off, we…read morewere very clear about our wishes for the mounting, to which the owner, Brett Thomas, agreed: full back support with two sets of steel French cleats. The cost was extremely high, but we were ok with it since we were getting what we wanted. About week before the work was completed, they called us to confirm some details. During that conversation we, once again, confirmed the agreed upon mounting solutions. Brett confidently said "Yes!" When we went to pick up the work, we realized that they, indeed, had changed the design and instead of steel cleats had installed these piddly little hooks. In addition to being flimsy, the hooks would have caused the frames to stick out of the wall, something we definitely did not want. Brett Thomas did NOT deny our conversation and the agreed upon mounting, but belligerently started yelling in our faces, insulting our intelligence and completely disregarding our wishes, and refused to refund the extra cost for the labor he has originally charged us. He flippantly tried to deduced $20 from the cost (0.800% of the total cost). Having just completed the construction of a 100% custom house we have dealt with hundreds of subs. Never have we seen anyone so rude and obnoxious.

He was very professional and I'm planning to work with him on future laser projects. Just a note - If your project includes cutting into an existing product or other requests that may not come out at a high quality level Alan will have questions. (I think this is much better than plowing the laser into something and ruining it.) I want to address the low review from the engineering student - you should heed the lesson in how to not be a high-drama customer. The expectation that your on again / off again rush job is showered with time and attention from your vendors is a little entitled (unless you're paying them for it). I guarantee other trade professionals (e.g. machinists) will have a similar attitude if you pull that and they are not the problem here.

I was recommended Cam by a friend who had previously used his embroidery services, and I was really…read moreimpressed with the quality of his work. When it came time to order graduation stoles, I knew exactly who to go to. I needed 12 graduation stoles embroidered, each with different wording. Although his shop is small and tucked away off the side of the road, don't let that fool you. Cam is incredibly genuine, detail-oriented, and takes pride in his work. He asked plenty of questions to make sure he fully understood what I wanted and even created a quick mock-up when I dropped off the stoles so we could visualize the final product. During the embroidery process, he also called to confirm the wording and placement one last time to ensure everything came out exactly as I envisioned. His turnaround time was quick, and he called as soon as everything was ready for pickup. I would recommend bringing your stoles to him as early as possible during graduation season since he has many orders to complete. I paid half upfront when dropping off the stoles and the remaining balance when I picked them up. The embroidery only costed me between $12-20 per stole depending on what was embroidered. The embroidery itself was excellent. The stitching was clean, professional, and didn't warp or distort the fabric at all. Even the backing was trimmed neatly, so it wasn't uncomfortable to wear. Overall, I highly recommend Cam's embroidery services, especially for graduation stoles. He's located just a couple of miles from the SJSU campus, making him a convenient option for students looking for high-quality custom stoles at about a fraction of the price of what the university charges.
