We engaged Willow Glen Art & Frame to frame two large antique posters. During the art drop off, we were very clear about our wishes for the mounting, to which the owner, Brett Thomas, agreed: full back support with two sets of steel French cleats. The cost was extremely high, but we were ok with it since we were getting what we wanted. About week before the work was completed, they called us to confirm some details. During that conversation we, once again, confirmed the agreed upon mounting solutions. Brett confidently said "Yes!" When we went to pick up the work, we realized that they, indeed, had changed the design and instead of steel cleats had installed these piddly little hooks. In addition to being flimsy, the hooks would have caused the frames to stick out of the wall, something we definitely did not want. Brett Thomas did NOT deny our conversation and the agreed upon mounting, but belligerently started yelling in our faces, insulting our intelligence and completely disregarding our wishes, and refused to refund the extra cost for the labor he has originally charged us. He flippantly tried to deduced $20 from the cost (0.800% of the total cost). Having just completed the construction of a 100% custom house we have dealt with hundreds of subs. Never have we seen anyone so rude and obnoxious. read more

Inspired by Joseph Cornell, I've been working on art boxes since seeing Cornell's art boxes at the Art Institute of Chicago in the middle 2000s, and the first box I finished was a tribute to my grandfather, whose name was Joseph Kernell. In 2015, I made a large collage of some of my heroes, titled "Two Cents for Ray Johnson," in a 38"x30" frame. In total so far, I've made 60 or so shadow boxes. In June of this year, I decided to make another 38x30 collage, and I approached the Willow Glen Art & Frame store in our neighborhood, and they did a beautiful job of framing it. Then in October 2025, I finished a third 38x30 collage, and I was able to pick up the framed piece a couple of weeks later. I had a great experience at WGAF getting a large canvas framed. The size of the piece (40"x60") required a custom frame that the chain competitors wouldn't handle. Thankfully, this wasn't a problem for WGAF. I got personalized service and design support to pick the exact frame that would be perfect for my artwork. On Nov 13, 2025, I gave two stars and wrote a review below: "People here are nice and communication was prompt and easy. However, the quality of our 5x7 photo paper luster print was very poor given the price being $12 for a single print. The face was washed out and the background had very strong yellow tint. The rep asked us to come back to talk to another person who was responsible for the printing during a week day, which was difficult for us. We ended taking the thumb drive to Foto Express in Downtown San Jose and had much better quality print for the price of little over $4 per print." On Nov 19, 2025, I have changed the rating to 5 stars. I had a very nice email conversation with Brett and got insurance of his commitment to providing excellent service to his customers. Besides giving me a full refund, Brett has retrained his employees and promised "our commitment to customer satisfaction always, and if its not right we will fix the issue at no cost." It is very encouraging for a business owner to take quick actions and improve their operation. I would definitely give them a second chance. read more

I came here hoping to get some wedding photos printed and framed as gifts for my parents. The selection of frames was good, but the service was awful. When we walked in, I saw the employee (maybe owner I'm not sure) coming in and out of the back door. I said hi and he completely ignored me, so I figured maybe he was busy that second and went to look at frames. While I was browsing, he was going in and out of the side room (which seemed to be an employees only area) and again I figured he was busy so decided to just chill and wait a little after I had decided which frames I wanted. I also had questions about printing and such, but he never reappeared so eventually we just left. I understand being busy, but I didn't really want to chase down the employee to get help when he couldn't even acknowledge me and my partner walking into the store. If he had even just said "hey I'm busy and I'll be in this room. Give me a shout when you need", I would've felt a lot better about the experience. I was hoping to support somewhere local and wanted to see if I could get the photos printed and framed quickly before I flew out of state, but unfortunately felt like they didn't even care to help me out. read more

I came here with two jobs: printing and framing a large canvas piece (30"x45"), and fitting museum glass into an existing frame (18"x24"). Brett's work was fantastic on both jobs. Great selection of framing options, and both gentlemen we've worked with in the shop have had great suggestions in cases where we weren't sure exactly what would look the best for a particular item. Very friendly to work with as well. I particularly appreciate their great attention to detail: we had a set of four prints framed identically, and every frame's wire hung at exactly the same height. This makes it so much easier to get everything lined up perfectly (especially when we want to try switching up the order of the prints on the wall!), and is something that other framing shops can overlook. read more

I needed a scan of some artwork, and Willow Glen Art & Frame said they could do it, even though it wasn't their main business - which is framing and printing. The scan was very good, accurate and clean. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, was the long turnaround time - but they did warn me scanning wasn't their priority. So if I needed a scan, but wasn't in a rush to get it, I wouldn't hesitate to use them. read more

Beautiful custom framing work coupled with friendly customer service. Brett welcomed me to the shop and was patient in answering my questions, as I was new to custom framing. I had two art pieces, one big and one small, and Brett walked me through picking a mat border (an optional flat color area that surrounds the picture and accentuates the look) and a matching frame. When I picked up the finished pieces a couple weeks later, I was stunned at how beautiful they look.
