That is completely unacceptable and honestly defeats the entire purpose of making a reservation in advance. People reserve rental cars because they have flights, work obligations, family events, vacations, and schedules planned around them. Cancelling a reservation at the last minute leaves customers scrambling with almost no time to make alternate arrangements -- and of course other rental prices are much higher by then. What makes this worse is that there was no real solution offered and very little accountability. If you cannot guarantee availability, then stop taking reservations you cannot honor. A reservation should actually mean something. This experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and incredibly unreliable. I would strongly recommend avoiding Thrifty if you actually need a car when promised.

More particularly, Archie's had to coordinate with another company to honor their agreement for a return trip pick up at midnight, since they shut down at 10. I noticed within the first 40 seconds that the driver was driving very slowly. Miraculously, there were no trucks on the street which leads us to Richmond Terrace. He was driving 5 miles per hour!! When he got on Richmond Terrace, he drove slower than the car before him (2 car lengths). I told him I needed to catch the 7:30 ferry. His response as he slowed to a light that was still green, was, "You might make it". The light promptly turned yellow and he made a full stop. He proceeded the rest of the ride in this fashion. Instead of waiting for him to catch each light in St. George, (there are 3 or 4 before you get to ferry entrance), I had him let me off at the outlets AND walked AND made my boat!!! He got the fare NO TIP!! Will never ever take them again!!! Not sure if he wanted me to say that there was something extra if he made the boat, not sure if he just didn't give a damn, not sure of anything BUT know I will not be using them again.
