Heavenly Grace S. on Central Ave is one spot I've driven by more times than I can count when I lived in White Plains. So on a recent Saturday in Nov. catching up on errands and also needing a mani+pedi, I came here on a whim. And man....does this petite salon almost does it all and I'm happy with it. There are about 3-4 swivel styling chairs, one shampoo station, enough space for a pedi+sink spa chair and the room in the 'back', has two mani tables. I swear, these ladies are making this joint work. Since I had no appt to begin with and they had their clients all set up with their own schedules, I felt I was stepping on their toes. The owner did a great job at fitting me in with Angie for my mani and Gina(?) for my pedi. Angie had the softest hands when she did my mani- she wasn't rough, she didn't tug. My mani felt very.....angelic. Gina(?) was pleasant- but I felt I missed something more from the service I got. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't horrible. You'll hear Mexican old school boleros, Ana Gabriel and Marco Antonio Solís playing in the background as you're getting your services done. Prices are fantastic. Small talk was just that. And the politeness carries throughout.

I should have known immediately that something was wrong as she brought out bleach to do the highlights. With my virgin hair, there was no need to use bleach to lighten it by just one shade. I left the salon blonde. When I came back an hour later to tell them to fix it, the owner was in shock and everyone in the salon was going against me, saying that the blonde looked good and to keep it. I'm upset that my previously healthy, virgin hair that I spent so long growing out is now unnecessarily bleached underneath hair color that they had to put on top of it to fix it. I attached pictures of my before, what I asked for (I showed the stylist this before she started), and then what I got.

I emailed her again after a week and got no response, then finally called to book an appointment. Otherwise, I would never have heard from her, even though I had already paid for the service. She was curt and rude on the phone, in fact I heard her swear and when I asked what was wrong, she complained about an open window (strange!) At my appointment, I waited for at least 25 minutes after the start of my appointment before she ever greeted me (by the wrong name). While she shampooed my hair, she got distracted by the phone and other things and left me sitting in the sink with a head of shampoo for more than 10 minutes. While this happened, another stylist came in with a dog that is apparently there all of the time. She reached over my head and I thought she was resuming my shampoo, but she was just getting water for the dog. Leah did a mediocre job with my hair, but her attitude and the borderline unsanitary conditions made me feel unwelcome. I tried to be friendly and chat with her to pass the time (mine was a 30 minute service that took more than an hour and twenty minutes due to all of her distractions) but Leah made it clear that she did not care whether or not I returned. I tried to address my concerns via her email review system, and she responded without apology, telling me to get another coupon and go somewhere else I would have considered going back but frankly her attitude and all of her distractions make it clear that this place is not at all worth the $250 full price service. I believe that if you are going to look down on customers who make purchases from online services like Lifebooker and treat them like their time is worth less than full-paying customers, then you have no business offering Lifebooker services. I'm disappointed in Leah's lack of professionalism and personality, and frankly, I could have gone anywhere else to have the same service done, and Leah left me wishing I had.
