Went there awhile back with my daughter for her first haircut. First, when we got there all the lights were off- we got to the door and the owner was the only one there on the couch. Then, I was sassed because we walked in instead of making an appointment (there was also no one there the whole 20-30 mins we were there). I had washed my daughter's hair at home prior and came in for a cut for my curly girl. The owner seemed to be losing patience with my daughter who was pretty nervous to cut her hair. Then, when the owner was done cutting- her hair was uneven. I loved the actual place, but the service wasn't really that great. I'll try a regular hair salon next time. read more

Wanted to try somewhere new for my son who is almost 3 and upon walking in the woman there acted as if we came in with a deadly disease because we were wearing no masks (currently there's no mask mandate) she wouldn't let us barely walk in, I told her my son didn't want the buzzer and was very reluctant to agree to cut his hair without one .. as my son tried walking in further she called him back as if he were a dog and proceeded to force masks upon us .. needless to say we left and will never walk in that dump again ! Rude, shockingly unprofessional and a physically painful experience for my child. Would never come here again. Not a full service salon. This is a sweat-shop volume based business. You will be treated with a high degree of disrespect if they feel they can't have you in and out in 15 mins. I watched in horror as this woman literally yanked clumps of hair out of my daughter's head. Her hair was badly tangled and there was no hot water to shampoo and condition the hair. The woman was clearly frustrated by that and was complaining at me while yanking my little girl's head back with every yank of the brush. I had to leave... just couldn't take it anymore. Went to Fabio's in BXV, who took us in without complaint, calmly and gently combed out the tangle and washed and conditioned her hair in a matter of just a few moments. Should have come to Fabios in the first instance. We were in and out in about 20 mins - so over the quota at Dolce Vita Will NEVER patronize Dolce Vita again. read more

Worst haircut ever. My son's hair was completely jacked up. To add to the bad experience, they are trying to force kids to wear masks. You should really be ashamed of yourselves. Nancy is a true professional and fantastic at cutting kids' hair. I made the mistake of bringing my son somewhere else for a haircut because I couldn't get an appointment with Nancy & boy did I regret it. The barber shop I went to butchered my son's hair (he looked like Lloyd in "Dumb & Dumber!) and the woman almost cut his ear. It was a horrible experience! I waited 6 weeks to let it grow a bit & then came back to Nancy. Luckily, she was able to fix my son's hair and put him at ease because he gets scared getting haircuts. I just made another appointment for my son with Nancy for next week and I can't wait to see him with another fabulous haircut! read more

I normally don't leave reviews but after leaving this salon fighting back tears, I feel compelled to say something. My son turned one recently and he desperately needed a haircut. I found this salon online and after reading all of the great reviews I was really looking forward to going. I contacted the owner by e-mail and asked if she takes walk ins or appointment only. This was a part of her response, "An appointment is strongly recommended during the week for after school hours and for the weekends." I was taking my son on a weekday in the morning and she recommended I make an appointment AFTER school hours or on a WEEKEND. I walked in with my son and mother in law and was asked who my son was. I told her his name (I thought she was being playful with my son) but was told that there are two kids with appointments ahead of my son and we had to wait. I quickly went from excited to hurt. I thought I was being too sensitive but even my Mother in law said she said it in a way like we were not welcomed without an appointment. After 15 minutes my son started to fuss and I walked out fighting tears because I did not want to embarrass myself in front of my mother in law or show my son I was upset. My mother in law took us to a nice barber shop called Eduardos in South Yonkers. We were welcomed with no appointment, taken in 5 minutes, and the women who did my son's hair, Martha, was lovely. So if you want to come here, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Doesn't matter what time or day, just make one. If the owner had told me that from the beginning then I would have done so. The place seems nice and clean. Decorations are cute and so are the toys. Just make an appointment and then you'll probably be welcomed. read more

Nancy is the most patient person with kids. My son has been with her since he was two years old and he is 10 now. Her salon is spacious, clean, and kid friendly. You are not walking into a store that cuts hair and is trying to sell toys and Knick knacks. This is a kids salon... and the experience is always pleasant. This is a nice children's salon. I was a walk-in but didn't wait long at all. Nancy was great! She trimmed my daughter's hair and gave her a pretty braided half up-do with pretty pink hair clips. It's $22. She did not have her hair washed. I liked the whole experience and will return. read more
