Then they found out GM no longer manufactured my engine, so it would cost $7K for them to put in a used one. That didn't sound right to me, so I called Coffey to see when I could bring my car by the shop. I didn't tell them what the other repair shop told me. Coffey said it was the thermostat, and charged me $372. A big difference from $7K. Needless to say, I won't be going back to the shop that tried to cheat me. Anyway, I scheduled the PPI for the following day between 11am and 3pm, no problem. Pay in advance, once again, no problem since that's typical for these types of services. I get a call the next day around 2:30pm saying the mechanic isn't available and we would need to reschedule for the next day. Unfortunately, I had a tight timeframe that this needed to be completed by and the next day wouldn't work. I found someone local, paid about 50% more since it had to be done right away, and they sent someone out immediately. I tried to cancel with Instant Car Fix and get a refund. Matthew told me that that was fine and sent me a link to cancel. Once I finished the cancellation, I got an email confirmation saying I was being charged a 100% cancellation fee for cancelling "a job in progress", even though the promised services were never delivered. When I tried calling Matthew back, he ignored all of my calls. I ended up calling the main number and told that they would escalate it. I didn't hear anything for a few days, so I called back and was told the same thing, and also told to email their claims department directly. If this is the "professional" demeanor by which they operate, then it's no wonder they are getting completely flamed in their online reviews. My review will not change until they fix their mistake. Until then, I advise everyone looking for mechanical services to look elsewhere.
