Stay away from this location - they overcharge for regular parts and service and if they feel they can take advantage of you by talking you into paying for unnecessary repairs, they will certainly try. This was my experience: In December of 2012 I bought a new set of winter tires here - I don't believe I got the best deal in town, but they seemed friendly and professional and I was pleased enough with the service to come back. I don't know much about cars, so when my car overheated on the coldest day of the year I figured I had a serious problem and brought it in for service immediately. What turned out to be the problem was a cracked radiator and upper rad hose - however, before even looking at the car the shop owner began a song and dance about the probability of needing to replace the engine in addition to the radiator - never mind the fact that I actually drove the car overheated for an extremely short distance. After an inspection they conjured up a list an arm and a leg long of repairs to my radiator, including items such as a new lower rad hose which was in fact in fine working order, and a radiator cap which I have since learned that a reputable mechanic will include for free as it is actually part of a new radiator and therefore included in the price. They were very firm on the fact that I would need to bring the car in for additional service to diagnose and repair the engine. At this point my gut told me to get a second opinion, and I'm so glad I did - lo and behold, not only was my engine in sound working condition, but my new mechanic was magically able to order all of the necessary new parts for HUNDREDS less than Active Green + Ross quoted me. My new mechanic thoroughly and professionally explained the problem and did not attempt to charge me for parts and services that I did not need. I was planning to take my car in for a simple oil change and saw that I had a flat tire that day. Pumped up air in the tire, made sure it was not leaking rapidly and drove the short distance to the location (had some one follow me and on the phone to monitor the tire and make sure it was safe). Long story short - my tire was not repairable and they did not sell my brand of tire. I got the oil change done and they did not charge me for taking the tire off, inspecting it, putting the spare on etc. Happy with the service and experience. read more

I had major issues with my Jeep, but with advise from both Sam and Vince we repaired the major issues and even found a few my former mechanic didn't find! I can't believe all the negative reviews this place is getting. Some people show up during a winter storm and want their oil changes or tire change overs done in an instant. I think there's a new owner so maybe that made the difference. I have been using these guys for a couple of years now and have to say how wonderful they are. The main on site mechanic is honest and won't up sell anything for the sake of generating sale. He'll tell you straight up what you can defer and what you should do in the name of safety. For those of us unfamiliar with cars, it's nice to have that personal touch. I've had it with dealers and their prices. Green and Ross in Richmond Hill can do pretty much everything a dealer can including scanning engine codes and major repairs. People think they're just for tires but they're the first place I go to for anything and everything. I even had my windshield replaced there for a competitive price. Courtesy pick up and drop off as well. Definitely give these guys a try. It's nice to have a trusted "go to" place when your car needs it! read more

My girlfriend and I have been taking our car here for about a year now. My car: 2008 tiburon. I bought it new. Never missed a service. Once I started taking it here there always seemed to be something else other than just an oil change. I had previously taken it to the dealerships and had never had problems. I take it here and it needs break work ( pre maturely ). Another time the air filter was too dirty (are you kidding me the dealer checks that every time). They brought one out to show me and I ended up getting it replaced. Now I wonder. The last time I was I with the tiburon the guy said I needed to replace all three belts in the engine. I got to speak with the fellow who worked on the car and he said that only one was really worn but you may as we'll replace all three because you have to remove the two good ones to get at the worn one. He gave me a quote for my next service at over $800! It just seemed shady and my guy was telling me this is a load of $&@$. I traded the car in so I never ended up getting a second opinion. My girls car: dodge caliber 2009, 90,000km. She had them service the back breaks and replace the front. Now I wonder if that was even needed at the time. Anyways, when she picks up the car she is told the breaks might squeak for a bit. Well these new breaks never stopped squeaking and they made clunky sounds sometimes. This never happened before being serviced!! I called the guy up. He said those are ceramic breaks and should not make a sound. Why don't you bring it in! Sorry but no thanks. She felt with the breaks. The clunky sound stopped but the squawking never did. I took it for an oil change yesterday and he said the reason they are squeaking is because the back breaks are dry (not lubricated). I then mentioned they were serviced here last time. He had a crappy explanation about how the brakes on that model were not that good and stop and go driving can cause this. My girl has been on mat leave for a large chunk of that time period! She barley drove it! This place never feels right when you step up to Here "what else is wrong " with your car. I have a bad feeling about them. Find a place more trustworthy to bring your car in. Too bad it is close to where I live. The people are very nice here, but remember to go with your gut feeling!! read more

These guys are THE BEST! I have been a customer of Sam and Danny's since 1999... They had a location near where I lived in Scarborough, and since that first day, I will only trust them to work on my car! They are now located in Richmond Hill, and I still take my car to them (I live in downtown Toronto!). They have been such a blessing to me... I don't know squat about cars, and I'm an easy target for mechanics. We've all been in that situation where you're in a panic, and need your car, and don't know what's wrong... and you get hosed. They have always been honest, and patient, and have walked me through what needs to be done, and what doesn't. Now my 2 sisters, my best friend, and my cousin all go to these guys. I recommend them to everyone who will listen! They are gems and I can't say enough wonderful things about them! read more

Neighbour-2014 I don't normally write reviews, but this time I decided to write one as a lesson to other people. This happened in November at this location. The last few years we have been changing our tires at the Promenade Mall location and we were happy with them. However, since this location is closer to us, this year we decided to take our cars here. What a huge mistake. My husband took his car in first then mine to have the winter tires put on. When my car was finished he went there to finish the formalities and the car was left in the parking lot to be picked up later when I came back from work. That night we went to pick up the car and as soon as I exited the parking lot onto Major Mackenzie Drive, I heard a banging noise. At first I thought the banging noise was coming from the big truck driving behind me, but then I realized that it was actually coming from my car. So I just turned on the first street (Cedar Avenue) and called my husband, who was driving in front of me. When he checked the car he knew right away that there was something wrong with the wheels. We still can't believe how it was possible that none of the bolts on all 4 wheels were not tightened. I can't imagine what could have happened if one or more of the wheels had fallen off the car while I was driving. I also don't understand how the car was driven from the inside of the shop to their parking lot without noticing that the bolts were not tightened at all. My husband tightened the wheels (thank god he had the tools in his car) and we went home. The next morning I called the owner Sam Kayum, and he was very apologetic, and he said that my car was worked on by someone whose first day it was on the job. When I questioned how come he wasn't supervised he said that he was a professional mechanic. I understand it was a mistake, but careless mistakes like this should never happen because they could put people in great danger. Good to know who we trust to fix our cars. This is a good lesson for everyone, that you should always check your car after picking it up from the mechanic. read more
