I love this place - I am so happy that I found it- Brandy is an amazing practitioner- I initially went for my lower back- the results were better than I have had anywhere-after going out of town for a few weeks I got headaches from some kind of a kink from traveling- nothing helped. After going back to see Brandy when I got back in town, my headaches immediately went away after she worked on me!! I contacted ActiveMed Integrated Health Center for acupuncture services contracted through Kaiser insurance. After informing them that I have a referral from Kaiser, I was told that unless I pay additional out of pocket for additional services not covered by insurance, acupuncture services will not help me. Typically I am used to being examined before such determinations are made. I am somewhat relieved that they exposed themselves as a hack organization before I actually wasted my time and made an appointment. read more

I have historically been stubborn about trying acupuncture due to my uneasiness about needles. About two years ago, my good friend recommended that I go and see Dr. Mike at North County Integrative to treat the ankle I sprained while playing hoops. Dr. Mike was professional, honest, and extremely gifted with his craft. After three treatments my ankle felt great and I was back on the court. Sticking needles into a person is just scary. I will admit that I was freaked out at my first treatment. I was having some back issues and had had it with over the counter medication and Western medicine docs just messing with me to figure out what to do. A friend of mine was going through her acupuncture program and suggested that I try it. Albeit, I was willing to try it, but not with a friend. That's just too weird. Pegah is awesome. She's a very educated, gentle soul with a willingness to teach her patients how to care for themselves on top of the acupuncture. I like that she's willing to talk through the options for pain management in terms of Eastern Medicine. In addition, she will tell you exactly what she is doing before and while she's doing it. If you are uncomfortable with anything, she adjusts it or thinks of other ways. Located in the Archstone Healthcare building next to Pomerado Hospital, it's a really convenient location for the North County Inland people. Parking is free. ActiveMed is EXCELLENT! I was having chronic headaches for quite sometime and in the past, dry needling worked well to treat them. It is really hard to find dry needling places, that accept many insurance plans, in San Diego. If you live in San Diego, and are hesitant to try ActiveMed because of the distance, I can tell you that the drive is worth it! Once I found ActiveMed, I chose it because their website was thorough and easy to follow. They offer tons of treatments. If there is a specific treatment you're interested in, they'll work with you to figure out if it's best. If you don't know what treatment you need but are looking to improve your health, they'll talk you through what would be best for your body. Matt Alavi and Acupuncture gave me my life back. I have two autoimmune diseases and was taking several pain pills each week (Vicodin) and sleep aids at night (Klonopin). Immediately upon starting the acupuncture the pain resided and I was able to stop pain pills (and not have pain) and after two months of acupuncture stop the sleep aids and sleep fine at night. Prior to acupuncture, I was very fatigued, going to bed to rest at 5 PM and asleep at 7 PM. The fatigue has gone away such that I go to sleep at 8 or 9 PM, with not having to rest first. I did not think feeling as good as I do now was possible. I have been under excellent aggressive conventional treatment for two years and that treatment did not bring near the relief that acupuncture did. I needlessly suffered before starting my acupuncture treatments. I would go into an acupuncture session with generalized pain, fatigue, headache, depression and anxiety and after the session all the symptoms had gone away and had a productive day. I was unaware that acupuncture could treat such a broad range of symptoms (fatigue, anxiety and depression) and have relief so quickly. When I started treatments I was at my absolute low point and now I am leading a good life. Prior to acupuncture I could not take hot temperatures and had to remain in climate controlled environments (which is common for autoimmune diseases). Now I am able to withstand much hotter temperatures. I also had balance issues and double vision. The acupuncture has improved both the balance and double vision. Prior to acupuncture I had too much weakness and fatigue to hike our local trails, now I can easily hike 3 miles. I like Matt's honest and straightforward personality. It makes going into treatments an enjoyable pleasure. Matt is very knowledgeable and helpful in a lot of areas. The office staff is very considerate and nice. It is a very convenient easy to find location. North County Acupuncture handled everything flawlessly with insurance such that it was not work on my part. Jessica is amazing! She is very knowledgeable and skilled. Her calm personality even helps make me feel better. She's been treating me primarily for shoulder pain after a car accident injury that hasn't healed. My doctors are suggesting surgery as an option but say I might still have pain as that is the case with my type of injury so I'm going the conservative route. I couldn't even put on my bra without agonizing pain this morning but right after the session, I feel so much better. If your a Kaiser Referral. . .Be Aware. . . Request / Demand all costs before the session starts. . .Just don't assume your Co- Pay Will Cover it As Usual (and as its suppose too) . I just felt he was taking advantage of me. . .demanding more money AFTER the session was over. Was not very up front. If he dosen't like Kaiser. . .he should have called me back and I would have gladly gone elsewhere. . . .To be honest. , He did let me leave with only paying the Co Pay. After a lecture on HMO's and what he has to pay with his type insurance. I left feeling a little agitated with the whole ordeal. . . I reported him to American Specialties and Kaiser. . . I was in the right. Co Pay $ 15.00 and NO MORE. I'm turned off completely on Acuputure. read more

Life changing treatment. I suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome for 15 years and visited numerous so-called specialists.
