Wonderful day spent at the Seashore Trolley Museum We…read moreenjoyed the indoor dioramas in the newly renovated building. I could have stayed in there all day, if I was the only one in the room. So much detail to each display. It can get a little crowded, which can make it difficult to see all of the detail without feeling rushed or in the way. There are some exhibits upstairs as well, don't forget that section. The gift shop was fun to browse while waiting for our trolley boarding time. I was able to purchase a great souvenir t-shirt - great quality. They had a few snacks and beverages for sale as well. The volunteers were very busy helping and directing people while we were there. The boarding area was spacious with things to look and some engineers standing by to load people onto the trolley. They provided a nice history narrative as the trolley meandered through the property. We were excited as our tour included a stop in the pumpkin patch. We were able to pick one pumpkin per person/ticket. After the tour you have the ability to walk around the campus to the MANY displays and vehicles. We were able to also walk into the the repair garage and see the mechanics and artists working to restore some of the older trolley/train cars. We loved our time there and would definitely return with friends and family. Thank you to all of the hardworking team and volunteers for preserving the history.

This is a great little venue that is now a family must "go to" when we make our annual trip to the area. As an added bonus, you meet the friendliest people. This year after the show, our car battery died and we were stuck in the parking lot. Without asking, the staff at the theatre volunteered if they could help as well as at least four cars. Not something I am used to where I come from. Looking forward to the 2014 season.

It's really all a matter of preference and geography (and…read moremaybe what movies are being offered; sometimes Saco really comes out with an impressive line-up!). But, I'll echo what a couple other folks have said already: PRO: $20 for a double feature for a whole carload of people is unbeatable! CON: We were in a Honda HRV (not a huge SUV) and tried to park in the third row where other vehicles our size were parked. A man came (literally) running after us to tell us we needed to move back a row because we were "too big." The fourth row was almost exclusively enormous pickup trucks. Fortunately, the ground in the fourth row had a bit of a bump, so we were able to position our vehicle on an incline and it offered fantastic views of the screen. Also, people weren't parking near the outdated microphone stands (which are spaced out for a reason), and instead we had someone park (their mega truck) so close to us that we couldn't even open our passenger door. Sooo... just a heads-up regarding where/how you park your vehicle.

Saco Drive-In does a double feature presentation where you can come early to grab a spot via your vehicle, or you can come during the second half to watch the second movie. It is only $20/vehicle for TWO movies! You can bring your own food and drinks or you can grab something from the concession stands in the back. How it works: Park your car not too close, as you'll be struggling to see the movie from within. Turn off your engine by setting your car to ACC, as you'll have to use your radio to listen to the movie. The screen will provide you with the radio station to tune into. Turn off your headlights, and get ready to watch the movie! The awesome thing about drive-ins in Maine besides all the cost-efficient amenities, is you can enjoy your movie in the cool breeze, no humidity included. Don't forget the bug spray!

Wow was it fun!…read moreIf you are self-conscious about running in public, like I was, this was the perfect event - you can hide behind the complimentary beard and hat while wearing the really cool red pullover they give you at registration. Registration is easy and to avoid the crowds, they had a couple of times you could pick up your stuff inside the mall at the Bon-Ton entrance. The varying ages and fitness types made this race fun and just inspired me to keep running. There is music and people cheering you along the way, including my husband :) It is a relatively flat course, which made it pretty easy. Toward the end they have an m&m station and a water station and a cookie station. As much fun as it seems to have treats along the way, if you are trying to run the course....stay away. I have a hard time saying no to candy, but next year (yes next year :) ) I will stay clear. Other great features....there were reindeer at the starting line and a ton of port-a-potties. They take your photo at the finish line! It is available for purchase, but even if you don't want to buy it, it is still pretty cool to see it. I didn't stay for my free beer, but perhaps I will next year. It was a fun race all around for walkers and runners. If you can finish 5K in under 2 hours...you will be fine. Try it, especially if this is your first race.

They offered two 8 hour windows for early pick-up times at Bon-Ton for shirt, beard, hat, and bib. This was helpful since I had to drive 40 minutes to get there the morning of and didn't want to try to factor in wait time for my stuff. The location was conveniently located right off the interstate at the Mall and even though parking was intense, but well managed and plentiful. The race starting & finish line was large blow-up arches that was hard to miss. There was a large blow-up Santa and snowman, along with real reindeer's, and hanging frames to get pics behind for all your viewing, group shot, and selfie taking pleasures. There was also Christmas music at the start and finish. It really got us in the mood, along with the 300 Santa's milling around. The pre/post race snacks were plentiful. There were tables loaded down with bottled waters, bananas,and granola bars. During the race there was also an M&M station and a cookie station to help get that sugar level back up. Yum! Both half marathon and 5K started promptly at their stated times. They also had "corral" stations for different paces. I liked this because sometimes people think they are a lot faster or slower than the people around them, which quickly leads to Running of the Bulls. I have seen these races, it's not fun. I really enjoyed this race for what it stood for. Bravo!!I feel like it is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season with giving to others, uniting as a very large group of well dressed Santas, and remembering to stay active. What I hope to see in the future is more music along the way. The beginning and end were so jammed packed with Christmas music that the in-between felt so quiet and separate. My thoughts were to have some "elves" stagger themselves throughout the race with the same Christmas music station playing on some portable device. If anything, at least at the cookie, water, and candy station.

Club Cumming on the Coast has been running every weekend at the Kennebunkport Inn this summer and…read moreonly has a few weeks left, before the season ends. There are special performers every Friday and Saturday night, hosted by EJ Garlands. Friday and Saturday night shows are outside on a large, lovely deck at the (Kennebunkport) Inn. These are dinner shows, with a delicious menu of choices served by the in house restaurant (The Burleigh). On Sunday, there is a more intimate cabaret performance by EJ and his pianist Carmine in the lounge from 4-7. Every performance I have attended throughout this series has been excellent, completely engaging and with wonderful talent! Every meal I have had here has been quality as well and when you put the two together, it makes for a pretty spectacular summer evening. I 100% suggest checking out Club Cumming on the Coast before their final weekend in October. Hopefully, this series will return next summer, fingers crossed!
