Smittys has a good deal on games, which my son loves. He loves the ticket based games they have. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all they have, if you're old school you'll get bored quick. The bowling is cool, but something about the pins being on strings isnt ideal. The pizza was so bad i spit it out, cumbys serves better pizza and that pizza is awful. My boyfriend and I came for our first movie date! Reserving seats/tickets online was a super easy process, as well as picking up our tickets from the counter. Don't forget to check in on Yelp as they have a free popcorn offer (or did at the time of this review). The nachos were fresh and crispy, and the Buffalo chicken was a yummy addition, though it could have used a lil more chicken for the price. I got the Philly cheesesteak and he got the steak tips. Both were tender and well flavored, though a bit heavy on the oils. There was room on the sub for a bit more cheesesteak, but still good overall. I was pleasantly surprised about the quality of fries and onion rings. The fries are just as I prefer, a lil on the thicker side so they have both a crunch and soft inside. Tim was an attentive server, and it was a great first movie experience. It was super fun to be able to go and play some games at the arcade before and after the movie too! read more

We went here for Rockstar Bingo, my first time at Smitty's in probably 15 years. The new (to me) location has an arcade, which we didn't have time to check out but it seemed as we walked by to have quite a bit of fun stuff in there. The girl at the counter was friendly, she scanned our entry barcode and sent us on our way to theater 5. Upon entering the theater, I noticed that there were 3 different types of seats. There were stadium seats in the back, office type chairs at tables in the center and recliners with small trays to slide in front of you in the front. We were in the recliner seats, they were comfortable enough, my only complaint is that the seats sunk in so low that it was almost impossible to comfortably eat anything off the tray that wasn't finger food. Within a few minutes of getting settled into our seats, our waiter came to get our drink order ($4.99 for a fountain soda), and then he came back for our food order. We decided on the Love Me Tenders (chicken tenders movie themed) and asked for a double order for an additional $6.99 so that we could share, they came with fries and we also ordered a basket of onion rings. The other two in our party both got the Buffalo chicken wrap with fries. When our food came to our seats, we were shocked to see that the "double order" of chicken tenders was 5 normal sized tenders and one mini sized one hiding under the fries. For $20, I expected a little more than just 5 tenders and a small fry. The onion rings were quite good, maybe a little over cooked for some people but I did enjoy them. They also charge $1.99 for sauce to dip your tenders, one dipping cup is about the size of a table spoon. The Buffalo chicken wraps were a hit with our friends. We tried the waffle fries and they were seasoned perfectly and delightfully crispy. Rockstar Bingo was fun but extremely drawn out, the host would play almost an entire song before moving on to the next, we were there 2 hours and only played 3 rounds. Probably won't ever go back for bingo or a movie/meal. Way over priced for the quality of food they serve. Our bill ended up being just shy of $50 for 2 drinks, chicken tenders, fries and onion rings. read more

Earlier this week I went to Smitty's for a movie date. This was my first time at their new location in Sanford. I didn't think it would be very big inside, but was I dead wrong. The movie theaters are set up wonderfully, huge improvement over the old location. We sat at the area where the table was in front of us, as well as the movie screen. This was fantastic! The theater was super clean as well. The staff all around was very friendly and gave us the best service! The food was even better than I remember. Delicious! After our meal and movie, we went into their game lab area which has a bowling alley, and a arcade. We had so much fun in the arcade playing games. It felt like being a teenager again! The new Smitty's in Sanford blew my mind when I entered the doors. In addition to movies, they have food, a giant arcade, a bowling alley, and even a bar! Our 6:30 tickets to see IT Chapter 2 were only $5 each. Everything was clean, the staff was nice, and our waiter at our movie seat tables was attentive. The food was less than average and was on the pricey side. My caesar salad was mostly soft croutons and nothing else. The onion rings were pretty crispy and almost too hard to eat. The poutine we ordered tasted great when it came out but the cheese quickly cooled and it all bonded together and ended up being hard to eat. The fries were pretty good though and were fried perfectly. I'm giving this 3 stars based on food and the price of the food. In the future, I'd probably go to a regular movie theater...unless I was really hungry for fries. read more

Never going to Smitty's Cinema, Sanford ever again, went there for a girls night with Kaylee to see Inside Out 2 and have some dinner and got absolutely cheated. We got separate checks originally but I ended up scanning to pay on my receipt and Kaylee's bill was also on mine, no big deal I paid it and left a nice tip; The manager came out and claimed that only one bill was paid, we showed him that I paid for both and we aren't going to pay a second time because of a mistake on their end. He demanded we pay again because it wasn't showing on his end and was getting increasingly rude to both of us, slamming his finger on the bill. We ended up paying so we could leave as he wasn't letting us until we paid again. As we were leaving I said I was going to leave a bad review and he said "yeah real nice" and scoffed. Originally it was supposed to be separate but my friend ended up paying for mine online. Then they said one bill was unpaid which it wasn't because she paid for both online. There's a nice variety of arcade games, bar, and bowling lanes available if you just want to come here for that you can or spend some time her while you wait to go to your movie theatre. The theatres vary in their seating options and floor layout. The wait staff are courteous and prompt when placing orders. Quality of food has varied from visit to visit. I tend to get the same items during each visit. I get the sample platter and a soda. The sauces have change. Mozzarella stick are delicious their marinara sauce is a pass. Pickle fries are okay however I prefer to switch them out for regular fries. During my last visit, the server did not allow it. Pricing is a little high but expected. Quality of food is slightly better than an average movie theatre. The larger theatres tends to have better seating however what the first lean back. Smaller theatres tend to have office chairs around the table which are not comfortable for a 2 hour movie. read more

My husband and I saw the new Batman movie Saturday night. We played some arcade games first which was pretty fun. The movie was good, however, in the theater they left the lights on the whole time. Batman is a very dark movie so having the lights on pretty bright through out the movie hurt my eyes and gave me a head ache. My husband had to leave the theater at one point because he was developing a migraine. I understand this theater also serves food so the service staff needs to be able to see. However, in my experience here before usually they dim the lights way down after 20 or so minutes into the movie. This wasn't the case this time. Additionally, we had order food and some strawberry milkshakes. The food was okay, the strawberry milkshake was absolutely disgusting. My husband took a whole two sips before proclaiming he can not drink it anymore. I had a strawberry milkshake as well and I can attest, it was rancid tasting. You would think spending $7 on ONE milkshake it would at least taste edible. IF YOU TAKE ANYTHING FROM THIS REVIEW, whatever you do, DONT ORDER THE MILKSHAKES! YOU WILL REGRET IT!! The Batman movie is a pretty long movie and the longer I sat in those ... office chairs .. the more uncomfortable it became. By the end of the movie my ass was burning from being so uncomfortable. A very nice variety of entertainment. Is the food a bit overpriced? Maybe, but it's really convenient having a plate of nachos, and drinks (including beer) - and basically anything else brought to your table during the movie. It was a great way to watch Avatar for 3 hours. The arcade looked amazing, and would definitely take advantage at another time. read more

My family comes to the area every summer and make a point to include Smitty's as our vacation tradition! Great theater, horrible food. Their food quality has dropped substantially since when they first opened in their old location when I was a kid. My go to order was always the fantastic four, it's a sampler of chicken tenders, mozz sticks, fries and onion rings. I mean let's be honest here, there is no real cooking here. It's go to freezer, open plastic bag and dump in fryer. The prices have increased and the quality of food i would not even call it so. Their chicken tenders once upon a time were the long, rounded tenders similar to a Tyson chicken strip. The chicken in my basket was more breading than chicken, and it was flat, chewy and dried out. The mozz sticks used to be the one with bread crumb breading, now it's this thick paste like breading. And insult to injury, we were served 1 frozen together mozz stick. And the food was luke warm at best. It's disappointing because it isn't like we're asking for much- but of course they're buying the cheapest brand/quality of frozen foods and upping the prices. We won't be ordering food from there anymore. It's not worth the money. I will have my dinner before or after coming here. read more

Horrible experience! Went to see Avatar, the new one, the movie was good, but left half way through because the kids were as mad as we were! The service was crap, they were friendly, but no communication among servers! Waited 25 minutes just for our order to be taken, then received just the buffalo sauce, no food.... waited over an hour and 20 minutes for the food, everyone who ordered after us got their food and we were still waiting... the food was COLD, didn't get utensils, no dipping sauce for my kiddos meal, she didn't even eat it, nachos were hard; asked for a pitcher of water, didn't get it for 35 minutes, only after I asked to speak to a manager! Extremely unimpressed and I will not be returning to this location!! If you're hoping for hot food when you're hungry, don't look for it here! read more

I went to watch Thor4 and bought my tickets online, when we got there the tickets weren't working and it took 30 min to fix it. When we finally sat down to watch the movie it had already started and I missed the villains entire reason for being a villain. I was too pissed to enjoy the movie and I still am very angry bc I LOVE movies. I gave it 2 stars bc the workers are great and helped as much as they could. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER order food here again. I went recently and ordered the Love Me Tenders (fried chicken, everything on the menu is movie themed.) The prices are OK, the food is mediocre aside from the fried chicken though. Got a salad here once and learned my lesson from it. Was wilted lettuce and tasted like it came from the bottom of the Sysco truck. What enrages me about the experience is I'm supposed to be able to enjoy my movie while I enjoy my fried chicken. I don't consider this too much to ask. Smitty's, however, seems to have a huge problem with this. I don't mind servers talking during the movie, they're usually pretty quiet about it. I don't mind being presented the check during the movie, I'm under no illusion that the food is free. But when you don't IMMEDIATELY PAY is when you pay a steep price for your arrogance at thinking you're going to watch your movie in peace. I was paying in cash, told the server I'd pay in a little while. The server SITS DOWN IN THE CHAIR NEXT TO ME AND STARES AT ME. This is no joke. Just sits...and stares. Now I understand that they have to worry about people walking out on a check and all but that's bullshit. So after about 10 solid minutes of being stared at I was thoroughly disgusted with this cretin so I paid and the rat bastard NEVER CAME BACK WITH MY CHANGE. I normally tip well, but since he sat and stared at me for 10 minutes the only tip I wanted to give him was the tip of my shoe breaking off in his ass. Brought this up to the person cleaning the room after the movie ended and was promptly blown off. I'll still go see movies there, but will never order food from them again. This Smitty's is a great place, and is always a fun time. I've been going to this location for many years, many great memories- it has a place in my heart. It's clean, the screens are big, the sound is loud, and the food is sometimes better than what you'd think it would be. The food prices could definitely stand to be lower, and let's be honest, the food is pub-like food, (with some healthy options) but still, if you appreciate it for what it is, it's usually pretty enjoyable, (and of a good quality). Not sure what some of the other reviewers said when talking about the staff, I've been going to this Smitty's since the early 2000's and have never had a problem with anyone there. In fact, everyone that works there is always incredibly nice (to me anyways). I was actually just there a couple of days ago, and noticed that they have brand new chairs to sit in, and they're pretty nice. The only complaint I have with this specific Smitty's is that they don't get a little bit bigger of a selection of movies- I am sometimes confused why they don't have more of the movies that are in almost every other theater. read more

This is the only theater for us. Movie ticket prices are the cheapest at Smitty's; they even offer senior and college discounts with ID. They used to offer a great military discount on tickets, but now you may get free popcorn with a military ID. Tickets are available for purchase about 30 minutes before showtime. There's a modest arcade selection to keep some antsy personalities busy. The Marshalls and Bullmose in the plaza helps kill some time, too. I would disagree with other reviewers on the food. Most of the selections are deep fried entrees, hamburgers, pizza, with the exception of some salads and sandwiches. If you're looking for a decent meal, eat at home or at a restaurant first. The food at Smitty's is okay, but it can get old fast. Service at Smitty's is typically good. The only thing that bothers me (and may not bother other people) is when the check arrives. I'm not a fan of being interrupted during the movie but obviously the server wants you to acknowledge the receiving of your check. If you're looking for a new experience, come sit in cushy seats that lean back, and feast on a diner-quality meal while you watch the latest feature films. The environment is truly unlike any other. Only people who have gone to drive-ins would understand: this is an indoor-drive-in where your cars already parked, but nobody's necking in the "car" next to you. The waiters/waitresses are quiet, unobtrusive, take your orders and disappear. Overall, the audience is quiet (so much so that I thought they could hear me smacking on the french fries. One guy kept snorting, which is gross when you're eating, but that's the price for eating in your living room, I guess. The movie was fine, too. The food could have been a bit hotter and the bun a bit less hard, but it might have been toasted at one point. I didn't let it bother me because the french fries were good. Oh, right. The food? They have salads, but this is the kind of place where you're supposed to be bad. So eat what you want. The tickets to the theater were only $7.50 each. The average single meal is $10. I daresay, you at least feel like you paid for something other than a jumbo popcorn (they do have regular condiments). I'll go there again, for sure. I gave it only 3 stars because the ladies bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. The stall I was in was fine, but there was paper on the floor and outside the door. read more

There is no cell service in the theatre so we were going to have to leave but the employees took the time to track down the manager to give us the WiFi password to the managers network. I love this place! I've spent a lot of time watching with my friends and family and it's a great way to reconnect, sit down, and watch a movie. I've seen Rampage, Spider-Man Far From Home, Avengers Endgame, and the most recent IT Chapter 2. The only reason why I don't give 5 stars is because the chairs are old and need to be replaced and the theaters have poor supervision. So if you want to come sit down watch a movie and play in a arcade with a bowling alley then this place is perfect for that! read more
